We were intrigued with this home's Old World Charm, its additions chronicling its family history and evolution through the years (decades). At that time it was a "Diamond in the Rough", overgrown and somewhat neglected but we could see that it could be brought back and we undertook the project while raising our son here. At that time the house had its Greek revival features and its quintessential New England porches. It did, however, have a barn attached to the South end where the present Kitchen is. Behind that was a Kitchen shed which was probably built in the 1920's to bring a modern indoor plumbing into the house. However the barn was too far gone to refurbish so we undertook to replace it with a Modern kitchen and Living Room with Full basement to support such modern conveniences as central Heating and Laundry. We did our best to carry on the Original Greek Revival Style in the outside of the house and include the extended porches which we enjoyed. A new well was dug and a new modern septic system was installed and the electrical service to the house was upgraded. As we renovated various parts of the house with its original themes in mind, we upgraded the structure, redid the wiring and added insulation everywhere. We added the French doors in three places in order to bring the outside world more into the home. We enjoy the working fireplaces. Outside we enjoy the peaceful serenity of the yard and enjoy the seasons as they change the appearance through the year. The gardens and the garage/shop have been pleasant places to work in our spare time. We have always enjoyed the neighborhood with quiet neighbors and its proximity to the lake and riding/walking trails at the Cape Cod Canal and Sagamore Beaches. We are close to shopping and not too far from Downtown Plymouth with its active Main Street and Old Town charm. We also enjoy our relatively easy access to all of Cape Cod. We have enjoyed this part of our lives in this house and hope you will too.
