This month we’re running our Architecture & Engineering Special Section.
At Alaska Business Publishing Co., we like architects and engineers. They design the world around us, from the computers we work on to the office buildings and homes we live in and the bridges we drive over to get back and forth between the two. So it is with a smile (and a highly engineered keyboard) that we are again using our February issue to celebrate architecture and engineering, both in this special section and in tangential content throughout. In our cover story this month, "Downtown Glacier", we focus on a new vision for an old building. The KeyBank Plaza in downtown Anchorage is no more, due to the magnitude 7.1 earthquake on November 30, 2018. The tower was originally built in 1972 for Alaska Mutual Savings Bank. The new design, inspired by Alaska's beautiful glaciers, will certainly upgrade downtown Anchorage into a more modern feel.
