SHEDDING Continued from page 5

Dear LadyByrd, I am planning my class reunion and I never imagined how frustrating this can be! Everyone is excited, but no one has paid their dues. We are getting really close to the reunion weekend, and we need money! There are deposits needed for venues, food, t-shirts, etc., and no one is in any hurry but me! I am ready to wash my hands of all of this and cancel the reunion or pass the responsibility to someone else. I feel like I may be in over my head! Help! Concerned Committee Member Dear Concerned: Oh, the joys and sorrows of planning a reunion! Whether it is a family reunion or a class reunion, the gripes tend to be the same. No one is paying! No one is responding! There are deposits to pay! I should cancel? The leading cause of death for most reunions is not poor planning, but inability to engage and motivate members to participate, with urgency. For whatever reason, humans are inclined to wait until the last minute to pay for reunions; I think there is some Law of Delayed Reunion Response that has yet to be studied.

So what is a stressed out reunion planner to do? How do you get those procrastinating members engaged? DEADLINES: Imposing payment deadlines can be a huge help. People tend to get into the day to day so bogged down into the minutia of bills and emergency bills and medical bills and other daily needs that things like reunions tend to get pushed to the back of the minds and the bottom of their priority lists. So giving members deadlines that keep them on track also gives them a

reminder to pay. It also helps those who would rather not pay all at once to have the opportunity to pay in increments on their dues. EASE OF PAYMENT: Making payment easy for members in a MUST! Create several options for members to pay you so that they are not stuck trying to buy stamps or lick envelopes. YUCK! While members of the seasoned generation will likely send their dues through snail mail, younger generations will prefer an online version. So make use of technology and explore online payment

systems such as PayPal, Square or Eventbrite. All three are safe and can be linked to social media or send through email. MARKETING: Visibility is the key to planning a successful reunion. Keeping the reunion on the forefront of everyone’s minds is important. Use different mediums, such as text messages, emails or social media as tools to help you engage members. Make your messages fun, use pictures and add a call to action such as asking for a response or asking a question that will motivate them to respond. And with everything you send out, include a reminder to send their dues with options and links on how they can pay, as discussed above. Since you do not have a lot of money yet, most of the ideas I have given you are FREE platforms that you can start using TODAY. And they are pretty user friendly and can be setup in a manner of minutes. Once you set them up, create a schedule for when you will send out your messages to keep you from becoming overwhelmed. Then watch the dues come rolling in! Happy reunion planning! Cheers! LadyByrd the Eventista Have a question? Email me at ladybyrdevents@gmail.com

carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats at each meal. Then, begin with a fitness program that incorporates weight training and cardio intervals. Arm exercises like overhead press, tricep push-ups and bicep curls, and back exercises like rows and rear flys help brides looking to tone up for a strapless or low-back dress. Bronston suggests starting with two or three days of weight training, two or three days of cardio and one day of Pilates or yoga. Weeks 5-8 Now it's time to switch up your exercise routines. It's a good idea to work with a personal trainer or join a group fitness class once or twice a week to shake up your routine and stay motivated. Your workouts should include one to two weight training exercises per body part throughout the week. If you can, try to shift the amount of weight you use and number of repetitions you do to help stimulate change within your body. Continue a cardio routine of two to three days per week and add in another day or Pilates or yoga. Weeks 9-12 It is important to keep up with your developing healthy habits as the weeks progress, but as your wedding day approaches, you're sure to feel the stress of planning. "A new focus on rest and relaxation during this time period is key," Bronston says. You can eat well and exercise perfectly, but without sleep, stretching, rest and recovery, your body is at risk of not functioning properly. Planning a wedding can be stressful and tiresome, but if you commit to a healthy diet and fitness plan, you'll walk down the aisle feeling confident and ready for your new life ahead.

CROSSWORD SOLUTION

Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

ARIES – Mar 21/Apr 20 Aries, you are ready to get moving and have a lot of momentum behind you. This is an ideal time to reach your goals. Don’t let your confidence waver. TAURUS – Apr 21/May 21 Taurus, this week it is better to trust your heart instead of your head. Sometimes you have to let your emotions guide your actions, and your gut could be telling you something. GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21 Gemini, you have good news to share and you are eager to reconnect with some friends or coworkers. Just complete prior commitments before you begin making plans to socialize. CANCER – Jun 22/Jul 22 Cancer, things in your life seem to be growing more challenging by the day. Make a list and tackle things as they come up so you don’t start to feel overwhelmed. LEO – Jul 23/Aug 23 A few possibilities intrigue you, Leo, but you don’t yet know just where you are going to direct your creative energy. Think it through a little longer. VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22 Virgo, you may feel like you can ignore your responsibilities this week, but you cannot. Although you have plenty of free time coming up, you have lots to do before then.

LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23 Libra, someone close to you isn’t on board with your point of view. You can’t please everyone all of the time. Stay the course if you feel it is right. SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22 Scorpio, something is on your mind you need to share your feelings. Resist the urge to hold your tongue. Honesty is the best policy in your book. SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21 Sagittarius, you are having a lot of fun now that you made it through a rather extensive to-do list. You can finally rest and breathe a little easier. Make some time for yourself. CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20 Capricorn, a busy schedule is proving problematic because so many people are demanding some face time and you want to help them all. However, you will have to pick and choose. AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18 Your amicable nature and willingness to let go of your own personal agenda makes it relatively easy for you to interact with a lot of people this week, Aquarius. PISCES – Feb 19/Mar 20 Pisces, think of ways to increase your income this week. Explore all of your options, even if they mean going out of your comfort zone.

Predictions for the top flavor trends in 2016 (BPT) - Sweet and savory. Hot and spicy. Earthy and aromatic. As the foodie movement grows rapidly, distinctive new flavors continue to emerge everywhere, from popular grocery store snacks to menu items at restaurants across the country. Spend just a few minutes in a snack food aisle and you'll see the flavor exploration trend is here to stay. Wasabi ginger, cheesy garlic bread, biscuits and gravy - the abundance of unique flavor combinations prove Americans are looking for new, unexpected, and sometimes unconventional, flavor options. Do you consider yourself an adventurous eater? If so, you're not alone. According to reports, more than half of all Americans consider themselves adventurous eaters, and more than 80 percent are open to trying new flavors. Adventurous eaters are in luck because 2016 is already proving to be on the cutting edge of flavor experimentation. Here's a glance at this year's top flavor trends, which are focused on spices, cheese and herbs: * Spices from all around the world continue to grow in popularity in American dishes and flavors. This year, these exotic flavors will stem from Indian and Japanese influences. * American staples will get an extra touch of flavor through the rising popularity of specialty cheeses like Gouda and Gorgonzola.

* The big twist on herbs will be using floral flavors, such as hibiscus, elderflower and lavender.

You can embrace the adventurous eating trend by seeking out these

and other flavors while grocery shopping or eating out. Food brands are paying keen attention to the trends consumers are searching for and answering the call with tasty treats that tantalize the taste buds. Better yet, some brands are even giving consumers the ability to help influence what is found on store shelves. For the first time ever, the Lay's brand is giving fans a chance to help shape its potato chips portfolio nationwide with the Lay's "Flavor Swap" program. Four all-new Lay's flavors will go up against four classic flavors, leaving fans to decide which will stay and which will go. The flavor pairings include:

* Heat Flavor Swap: Lay's Flamin' Hot vs. all-new Lay's Fiery Roasted Habanero * Cheese Flavor Swap: Lay's Cheddar & Sour Cream vs. all-new Lay's Smoked Gouda & Chive * Barbecue Flavor Swap: Lay's Honey Barbecue vs. all-new Lay's Korean Barbecue * Spice Flavor Swap: Lay's Kettle Cooked Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper vs. all-new Lay's Kettle Cooked Olive Oil & Herbs These new flavors are the perfect

way for consumers to put their taste buds to the test and unleash the power of their palates. Once you try them all, visit FlavorSwap.com and select your favorite flavor in each pairing. You can find all eight flavors in retail stores nationwide when voting opens on February 8, 2016. Voting ends on March 21, 2016. One lucky fan will win a $250,000 cash prize for simply placing his or her vote. Plus, the fan-voted winning flavors in each pairing will be permanent additions to the Lay's potato chips portfolio, so you can snack without worry that your favorite flavors will disappear. For complete details, visit FlavorSwap.com.

Georgia Firebirds Announce New Coach ALBANY - The Georgia Firebirds announced today that General Manager Terrence Fowler has relieved DJ Daniels of his duties as head coach. “This was a tough decision for me to make knowing how tirelessly DJ worked to make this a winning team. He is a man of the highest character and integrity that I developed a close personal relationship with. I am extremely disappointed with how we have started the season but I feel confident that we can improve quickly with the talent we have on our roster.” “With that being said, I am pleased to announce that Antwone Savage will lead the team as the new head coach going forward.” Savage stared at Westover High School (Albany, Ga) and had a stellar collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma where he won a nation championship and is second all-time in catches for a wide receiver. He also spent several years on the professional level winning an Arena Cup with the Spokane Shock and two league championships with the Albany Panthers. Most recently he is coaching with the Americus/ Sumter Panthers and coached wide receivers in the 2015 Georgia/ Florida All-Star Football game. For the latest news and information, visit georgiafirebirds.com or facebook.com/gafirebirds and follow the team on Twitter.
