During this one-hour class, we practice balance, simple dance steps, and easy yoga stretches, all movements done to a wide variety of wonderful music

At the end of the class, you will feel open, alive and joyfully connected to yourself and others Fee is per class

Each time you take a step your feet absorb the impact of 1 5x your body weight If your feet can’t dampen impact and stabilize your body quickly, your balance suffers, and joints can be damaged This class can wake up and strengthen your feet to walk easier, balance better, and stay active Ernie has 30 years’ experience specializing in movement education and injury prevention He is a Pilates Instructor, Feldenkrais Practitioner,(FGNA) and Certified Personal Trainer (NASM), with an extensive background as a professional dancer

*Prerequisites: Students must be able to get up and down from the floor without assistance This class is not appropriate if you have an acute injury or are in severe pain

Come enjoy a nice group walk to various places around Albany led by local residents and nature lovers With the benefits of vitamin D from the sun and cordial social exchange, come get active with us Starting from the Albany Senior Center or pre-designated locations, the group is led to different locations within walking distance, while accompanied by guest speakers to spark up some conversations

A program designed to encourage walking as a healthy lifestyle for adults 50+ Ride on the Senior Center shuttle bus to regional parks and other interesting, scenic places Walk as you connect with other seniors Walks are usually 2 to 4 miles and are generally easy to moderate in difficulty Bring a bag lunch, or lunch at a designated eatery Monthly walk schedules and registration forms are available at the Albany Senior Center Space limited Early registration recommended

Read & Write

Memoir Writing

AGE 50 +

Students read their own writings to the class for its critic and evaluation The teacher adds another voice, pointing out basic principles and approaches to effective non-fiction prose The idea is to make our memoir writing as vivid and effective as it can be so that it will not be filed somewhere in the dark but will be read and re-read with enjoyment by children, grandchildren, and even by strangers yet unborn No one is required to read out loud, or to withhold other kinds of writing, which are welcome

World Literature

AGE 50 +

Class reads great, enduring literature from around the world, especially the classics from America, England and Europe Such fiction, long and short, all delves into universal human concerns such as love, religion and death, and confront persistent, unanswerable questions We move at snail’s pace over puzzling and intriguing passages, emphasizing language, structure, method and implicit meanings Issue of genre, technique, symbolism, and historic background are also considered

Watercolor Workshop

AGE 50 +

This intensive watercolor workshop will feature individualized instruction by an experienced watercolorist tailored to your personal choice of watercolor projects Using available visual prompts or your own reference materials, you will be encouraged to achieve more detailed control of the creative medium while tackling an increasingly wider range of challenges such as clouds, water flowers, natural environments, and figurative subjects Additional $30 material fee for those needing basic watercolor 50 pieces
