Albany Technical College offers high school students in our community the opportunity to participate in Dual Enrollment, a program that allows them to earn college credits while still in high school. This program provides several benefits to students, including a head start on their college education, financial savings, and smoother transitions into college.

One of the most significant advantages of dual enrollment is the financial savings for both parents and students. By taking college courses while still in high school, students can reduce their future tuition expenses, making higher education more accessible and affordable. Additionally, dual enrollment students often transition more smoothly into college as they are already familiar with the academic rigor and expectations of higher education.

Albany Technical College has established pathways and partnerships with four-year institutions to facilitate seamless transitions for students. These pathways allow students to transfer their earned credits towards the pursuit of a four-year degree, providing them with a strong foundation and a smoother college experience. Our partnerships with these institutions ensure that our students have access to high-quality education and opportunities to further their academic and professional goals.

Under the “Essential 18” initiative, Albany Technical College encourages all high schools within our service delivery area to sign up all eligible students for a minimum 18 transferable college credit hours. By doing so, we hope to increase the benefits of dual enrollment for every student with at least a 2.0-grade point average, regardless of their future academic or career ambitions.

We encourage parents, students, and educators to explore the benefits of dual enrollment and take advantage of this incredible opportunity. For more information, please visit our website or contact our admissions office.
