PROVIDING PATHWAYS FOR STUDENTS TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION

Albany Technical College (ATC) has signed several agreements with colleges and universities in recent years, including the latest with Middle Georgia State University and Columbia Southern University. These agreements provide a pathway for ATC students to continue their education beyond a two-year degree and pursue a four-year degree or higher.

ATC has a variety of pathway agreements available to its students, including transfer pathways to four-year colleges and universities. These agreements make it easier for ATC students to transition to a four-year institution and continue their education without starting from scratch.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in the 2018-2019 academic year, 38% of all associate degree recipients transferred to a four-year institution. This number has been steadily increasing over the years, highlighting the importance of Articulation Agreements in facilitating the transfer process.

In addition to providing a clear pathway for transfer, Articulation Agreements can also help students save money on their education. Students can save on tuition and fees by completing their first two years at ATC before transferring to a four-year institution. This can be especially beneficial for students who may not have the financial resources to attend a four-year institution right out of high school.

Overall, Articulation Agreements provide a valuable opportunity for ATC students to continue their education and pursue a four-year degree or higher. These agreements make the transfer process smoother and more affordable, giving students a chance to achieve their educational goals.

My name is Marnell Davis, and I am a two-time graduate of Albany Technical College. I graduated in December of 2021 with my associates degree in Pharmacy Technology. In May of 2022, I graduated with a Technical Certificate of Credit in the Accelerated Nurse Aid program while attending Monroe Comprehensive High School as a dual enrolled student. The experience was definitely rewarding and prepared me for the next phase in my educational journey. In August, I enrolled at Georgia Southwestern State University where I plan to major in Nursing. Attending Albany Tech afforded me the opportunity to get a jump start on my education and I was able to transfer all my core classes to GSW. Now this was not only a win for me but a thank you from my parents as it is less out-of-pocket money for them towards my education.

I would like to encourage others to never give up on your dreams and know you are destined for greatness. Know that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. You just have to stay focused, determined and rely on your faith to see you through. Now for anyone out there who is thinking college isn’t for them, I challenge you to first know that college is for anyone who wants to better themselves. Reach out to Albany Tech and allow them the opportunity to assist and guide you in your educational journey. High school students who want to do like I did and get a jump start on your education, Albany Tech is the place to be. The instructors are passionate about their area of expertise and want to see you succeed.
