Open Water Diver Course @

Taking scuba lessons is a great way to meet new people. Connect with your friends by enrolling in a scuba diving class at a PADI dive centre or resort. You will meet friendly, expert PADI dive professionals who will introduce you to everything scuba has to offer. When you have completed the PADI Open Water Course, you will receive a certification which you can use on various locations around the world, this is valid for life. If you have an appetite for excitement and adventure, odds are you can become an avid PADI scuba diver. You will also want to keep in mind the following requirements: Age: • 10 years old • Students younger than 15 years, who successfully complete the course, qualify for the PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification, which they may upgrade to PADI Open Water Diver certification upon reaching 15. • Children going for their ocean dives (Jumeirah & Fujairah): may go unattended, however, parent/guardian are to sign Youth Diving: Responsibility & Risks Acknowledgements form upon signing up for the course. Learning Materials: Unless you choose PADI e-Learning, you will need and use the following training materials during the PADI Open Water Diver course, and for your review and reference after the course. All provided when you sign up for the full course:

Waterskills: Before completing the PADI Open Water Course, your instructor will have you demonstrate basic waterskills by having you: • Swim 200 metres/yards (or 300 metres/yards in mask, fins and snorkel). You may use any swimming stroke you want. • Float and tread water for 10 minutes, again using any methods that you like. • The PADI Open Water Diver Manual • PADI Open Water Diver Video on DVD or the PADI Open Water Diver Multimedia (combines manual and video for computer based learning). • You will also need your PADI Log book and Recreational Dive Planner (Table, The WheelTM or eRDPTM).

The course is consists of: 5 Knowledge Development Sessions, 5 Confined Water sessions conducted in our on-site swimming pool and lastly, 4 Open Water or Ocean. Typically our students complete two beach dives, followed by two boat dives from Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort in Fujairah. We can combine some of the pool and classroom sessions to break the day up. The sessions (classroom and pool) are scheduled into sections. The course can also be concentrated into 4 days or spread out over a period of months or weeks, it is entirely up to you. This is subject to weather conditions and availability, please allow extra days for any changes.

The course cost 2,350 AED per person and this includes the PADI course materials; book, dive table, diver logbook, equipment rental, DAN short term diver insurance and the certification card after the completion of the course. When you start scuba diving, as a minimum, you want your own mask, snorkel and fins. These have a personal fit, our retail staff/instructor can help you choose these that are best suited to you.
