The undercarriage The robust undercarriage consists of a torsion-resistant main frame and a large ring gear. Equipped with strong, claw-type outriggers, the Atlas material handling machines are well-known for their excellent stability. Transversely installed engine Thanks to the carefully designed positioning of the superstructure on the undercarriage and the torsion-resistant outrigger system we achieve very high lifting capacities. The drive unit and counterweight are positioned to achieve the optimum centre of gravity. The centrally positioned boom linkage on the superstructure makes for ideal load transfer to the undercarriage. Travelling stability Stability is ensured in travel mode, too, thanks to the two heavy-duty axles with planetary transmission in all four wheel hubs. Moreover, our machines are fitted with all-wheel drive, power shift transmission, control traction motor and a double-action travel brake valve as standard.

So that your operators can work fast and efficiently, our machines provide an individually adapted cab and a performance-enhancing combination of sensitive hydraulics and economic water-cooled engines: for greater economy, greater convenience, greater handling capacity. All combined with safety.

Economy Our modern water-cooled 4- and 6-cylinder engines (Tier 3) are famous for their compact construction and tremendous power density even at very low revolutions per minute. Economical fuel consumption, long life and low maintenance costs all contribute to significantly reduced operating costs.
Comfort The most important requirement for high handling capacity is that the operator feels at home in the machine. With ease of access to the cab, excellent visibility, ergonomically designed controls and an air-conditioning system making for a productive and pleasant work environment. The engine is particularly quiet, ensuring that noise levels in the cab are low and do not contribute to stress.
Handling capacity The operator can work more effectively thanks to sensitive hydraulics that adjust perfectly to every type of work and ensure smooth operating movements. Atlas machines react very quickly to movements of the joystick. The intelligent hydraulic management system enables proportional load-independent control as well as simultaneous operating movements.

A great way to get to work The superior features are evident from the moment you mount the extra wide access. You will appreciate the generously sized steps, well-positioned grabrail and large cab door as well as the ergonomically sized handholds. The left arm console folds upwards for easy access.
We put the feelgood factor into the workplace The interior is generously proportioned. The height and angle of the steering column are adjustable, enabling the operator’s position to be adapted for individual comfort. As a result of extensive sound insulation the sound pressure level in the cab is very low. The elastic bedding of the operator’s cab on the superstructure ensures a low-vibration working environment. There is ample legroom, with the pedals arranged to allow the operator freedom of foot movement. Take your seat The air-cushioned operator’s seat can be adjusted to the height and weight of the operator. For a relaxed sitting position the backrest, lumbar support and seat cushion length and angle are all adjustable – independently of the control console. The cab with more view Our extra-large cab gives you excellent all-round visibility. The narrow steering column means that the view of the attachment and load is not obstructed. The particularly large area of windscreen wiper coverage and the defrost function for rapid demisting and de-icing of the windscreen mean that you can clearly see what you are doing. With heat-insulating glass, sun blind and air conditioning fitted as standard, even work in hot conditions is no sweat. Giving you a handle on everything All the controls are within the operator’s reach and easy to view. The two control levers – specially developed by us – are ergonomically shaped and operate with short, precise movements. Large buttons enable oscillating axle lock, operating modes, auto-idling system and many other functions to be activated at the touch of a finger for ultra-convenient operation.

Information At exactly the right time
Our TEM system is a sophisticated control and monitoring system which adjusts output precisely and individually for the demands of each task.
Always there for you A primary task of the TEM system is to ensure perfect coordination of engine and hydraulic pumps, giving you maximum performance at stable diesel engine revolutions all the time – for highest productivity with lowest possible fuel consumption. Always well-informed The TEM’s large display means that you have all the important operating data and warnings at your fingertips all the time. The high-contrast display is always easy to read, even in bright sunlight. The service menu with maintenance intervals and display of monitoring data simplifies fault-finding and service.

Operating modes – guaranteeing just the right performance The TEM system has three pre-programmed operating modes ready for you: Fine, Eco and Power put the machine in the perfect “starting state” at the touch of a button. Engine and hydraulic output are directly adjusted to the actual operating situation. The operating mode can also be adjusted manually. You have the choice: • T he Fine Control Mode is for all applications which require very precise operation. • In Eco Mode normal operations are carried out particularly economically. • If maximum handling power is needed, you can switch to Power Boost. Very few other material handling machines have such reserves of power – the Power Boost Function provides an increased operating pressure of 370 bar. Advanced driving features fitted as standard Automatic throttle control and cruise control are standard features. With automatic throttle control, speed and engine revolutions are controlled by the accelerator. Cruise control is activated by the TEM control panel. The cruise control is automatically set at maximum speed. The direction of travel is pre-set by means of a switch in the right pilot control lever. So that you are safe and comfortable even on longer journeys.

Booms and sticks
Impressive power development as a result of the best equipment All components are designed for high lifting capacity, optimum handling curves and fast working movements. The large selection of booms and arms enables you to adapt the machine to the precise task you need it to do: feeding shears and shredders, feeding sorting lines indoors and loading or unloading ships.
The industrial boom You need look no further than the Atlas standard program for suitable solutions for recycling, scrap metal handling and port handling. The welding procedures we use give our booms design advantages, making them lighter with no loss of robustness. High-stress zones have been additionally reinforced for safety. All hydraulic lines use galvanized and abrasion-resistant steel pipes. For all models the main boom and jib are designed for heavy lifting work. The kinematics ensure optimum load transfer – from the load at the tip of the jib via the machine to the outrigger pads. Two-part industrial boom with cranked jib For pivot-mounted attachments the tip of the jib is curved, thus ensuring that the grab does not collide with the underside of the jib in steep positions. Two-part jib with straight jib and bucket tipping cylinder For attachments with fixed mounting, such as sorting grabs, the straight version of the jib tip is supplied. An additional hydraulic cylinder is mounted on the jib; the sorting grab is operated via this cylinder by means of a separate hydraulic circuit. Adjustable boom The three-part adjustable boom is ideal for indoor work. Our variable adjustable booms, which can be extended and retracted hydraulically, provide for loading and reaching at great height. The third boom element enables the machine to work very flexibly in confined spaces. Monoblock boom Upon request we can supply a monoblock boom for most models if you wish to attach scrap shears directly to the main boom. Long-life cylinders Every cylinder is designed for maximum power, taking the size of the machine into account. The high level of buckle resistance, the high-quality surface finish of the piston rod and special sealing systems all contribute to long service life.

Do great things with the right attachment Manufacture of both our standard and special attachments takes account of state-of-the-art developments in machine building and steel engineering. High-strength steels, proven technology and decades of experience result in work that is cost-effective and practice-based. The grabs The right grab for every task – the diverse palette includes clamshell and cactus grabs, sorting grabs, timber grabs and magnet plates. We supply cactus grabs with four or five tines in open, half-closed and closed versions. All grab types are designed for maximum closing pressure and excellent filling performance.
Tried and tested • Cactus grabs from 275 to 1400 litres. • One or two torque motors for grab turning. • Grab rotating via rim gear. • Tines and tooth tips of wear-resistant steel. • Grab cylinders well protected. • Grab-rotating hydraulics as standard. • Swing brake for grab rotating system fitted as standard.

Designed for ease of service Service-friendly maintenance flaps make work easier All the lubrication points for the ring gear and boom equipment have been combined. For oil monitoring all the main components are directly visible and, like the battery, easily accessible. To enable the machine to be quickly checked by our customer service technicians, monitoring points have been placed at all operationally relevant positions. Expert service partners Our dealers’ customer service staff undergo intensive technical training at our works, so that they can provide you with expert advice whenever you need it. All the support you need Our TEM system provides you with reliable maintenance assistance. The service menu with its display of maintenance intervals and monitoring data keeps all the information you need at the ready. The TEM system can be easily viewed and configured by connecting a laptop to the diagnostic port in the cab.
The hydraulic oil filter The special process which we have adopted enables the filter basket to be repeatedly re-used. Only the 'lifietime' filter element needs to be changed. This is good for the environment and significantly reduces the costs of disposal. Long service life Your Atlas material handling machine has a long service life. Please make sure that servicing intervals are adhered to and original spare parts are used.
