ÂťBuilding efficient hospitals for the future
p\2
As part of The Consulting Group DNU, ALECTIA manages the design of the largest and most complicated hospital in Danish history: The New University Hospital in Aarhus (DNU).
ALECTIA designs the next generation of hospitals Denmark is in the midst of its largest ever investment in building the next generation of hospitals. While other countries are still concidering such a move, Denmark has started the process and is currently gaining real world experience in this complex, industry-specific field. 100 years as a market leader ALECTIA delivers professional project management with a special focus on quality, safety and economy. We have served as Denmark’s leading hospital consultants for more than 100 years. Based on this experience, we have extensive, state-of-the-art knowledge on the planning and design of the next generation of hospitals. We use our many years of experience to create functional healthcare buildings that meet the needs of patients and staff. We understand how important
patient safety, hygiene requirements, indoor climate and a high level of comfort are to staff as well as patients. From analysis to commissioning Whether it is refurbishment of existing hospital wards or planning of new, large and complex hospital buildings, ALECTIA provides advice for all phases of a construction project, from analysis and planning through to commissioning.

Logistic simulations - the future in hospital design p\7
When designing a new hospital or modifying an existing hospital, many decisions need to be taken. Logistic simulation can test the impact of the different ideas and decisions – before investment commitments are made. ALECTIA’s simulation model (LogiSim) enables the user to test and validate processes, design, dimensioning, bottlenecks, critical issues, and to optimize distribution and usage-profiles. LogiSim enables the following: •A nalyze operations during peak hours •V alidate if the flow and usage is properly balanced, i.e. excess capacities or bottlenecks •V alidates if the hospital is sufficiently robust to handle demand fluctuation and equipment break downs. •T est different scenarios for proces flows, physical layout and dimensioning
Cases • ALECTIA’s experts have simulated a semi-automatic central sterilization plant for process planning, dimensioning, high volume testing, emergency scenarios, physical layout and input for the forthcoming tenders • We have used simulation for the dimensioning of automated guided vehicle solutions and connected equipment for existing and new hospital buildings in Denmark, covering goods flow, food, beds, laundy, etc. How does this benefit you? • Visual verification of your plans and usage • Analysis of generated simulation data for business cases and decision memos • Alignment between engineers, architects, operations and management
ALECTIA is one of Denmark’s leading consulting companies, with clients and projects all over the world. ALECTIA advise, manage and deliver projects within healthcare, pharmaceutical, brewery, food and dairy sectors, including building design, occupational health and safety, water and the environment.
