Copenhaguen Public Library Community Building Copenhagen, Denmark August - December 2014 In collaboration with Ana Virginia TreviĂąo

The purpose of this proyect was to design a public library based on the danish word hygge, for us hygge was a feeling of warmth, serenity and familiarity. To achieve that we designed a form that is familiar in the danish architecture and we used materials that are also familiar and local. The concept was simple, to enclose the building with green scenery and to separate noise from silence; making the user feel at home.

The general room is located in the ground floor of the library is for easy and fast access. The cafeteria and book store is also located in the ground floor for the same purpose but also for it to have access to the patio and pier.

Home for the elderly Community building Monterrey, N.L, MĂŠxico January - May 2015 In collaboration with Daniela GarcĂa Rangel

Experiencia de amor is a home for the elderly with mental and physical illness. The design concept is based on separation, we wanted to separate the rooms from the services; that is why we separated the two volumes with a bridge that divides the patio in two. With this we separate the different activities and we give a sense of privacy to the users.

23

THIRD LEVEL PLAN

We wanted to give a sense of tranquility and serenity to the users, that is why we use a material that exudes warmth and we gave them the most views to the patio that we could. We also wanted to engage activities between them because they are senile adults and need of brain and motion activities to have a quality life.

greenhouse 505 AWR Competitions New York, E.U.A January - April 2015 In collboration with Javier Montemayor y Viridiana Negrete

Greenhouse 505 is a building that intends to provide a connectivity between the community and a relationship with nature and the city. Giving the people a place they feel attached to, because they are welcomed and feel at home. Basing our concept in that theory, we wanted the building too feel open to the community; that is why people can access every floor level and experience the plaza, art and park gallery, urban farm and greenhouse.

Colonia San Francisco Urbanism summer workshop San Pedro Garza García, N.L., México Summer 2015 In collboration with Andrea Vargas

San Francisco is a small poor community located in the towncenter of San Pedro, one of Monterrey’s municipalities. Situated alongside the Santa Catarina river, separated only by Morones Prieto, a 40m width avenue. The community has a big pedestrian problem, most of their users walk everywhere but they don’t have decent sidewalks, the project proposes a bigger pedestrian area and public spaces that will rehabilitate the area and convert it to a safer and cleaner area where the community can grow and connect.

We propose to extend the stairs and to utilize the aera beneath the bridge to convert it to a garden, also to put a grate drainage to protect the drainage from trash and for it to look cleaner

of paving stone of public plazas of rain gardes lightning fixtures trashcans

Se propone cubrir el drenaje pluvial, agregar una zona de bancas, quitar el poste y arreglar el รกrea de la capilla religiosa

Area that conects Jimenez street with Morones Prieto Avenue, we propose build a wall with art, rehabilitate the stairs and elongate them and to add trees to the green space

We propose to clean the sidewalks, elongate them and add a paving stone sidewalk to have more space for the pedestrian meanwhile being absorbent. To protect the pedestrians we propose concrete pots with small trees to serve as a barrier from cars

Typology A Rain gardens

Becuase the project is located in front of the Santa Catarina river we offer a model that will serve as a rain garden to provide more absorption area

Typology B Parking

This typology repeats through the whole strip but is going to be located mostly infront of auto repair shops and houses, due to its flexibility this zones can be converted to pedestrian zones in the near future.

Typology C Located infront of the shops and restaurants, it offers a place where the community can hangout and know each other, it also represents a more attractive area for the costumers of said shops and restaurants.

Typology G

Pedestrian sidewalks Due to the flexibility of the project this typology can be located wherever and it is very present along all the strip, this is because the movility of the community’s residents consists mostly of walking and this responds to their needs of more pedestrian areas.

ITESM Nanobiotechnology center Sustainability and Lanscape Workshop Monterrey, N.L., Mexico August - December 2015 In collboration with Ana Fernanda Mayoral and Tobal Leal

The two primary axes of the project connects the prject with the rest of the campus. The diagonal axis connects the CIAP garden and Arizona entry with the Aulas 1 building, by adapting the building’s geometry with the path we created a bridge that connects with the core of the building. The horizontal axis connects the E1 entry with the Nanobiotechnology entry, by creating a straight path that crosses the Biotecnology building, the outdoor greenhouse, the building and the lake, the students have clear and undestandable path. By having to cross the building to get to their destinations, it becomes part of their everyday experience, with this we hope that not only the students interested in nanobiotenchology enter the building, also the campus’ students and faculty memebers.

41

Outdoor spaces serve as recreational areas for the students, a more informal enviornment where they can relax and study

To facilitate services and installations through out the project, all the laboratories are located on the south building

The middle volume that connects that buildings horizontanlly and vertically, also serve as the core of the project, due to its location is harbors the primary axis that connects both plazas and entrys of the campus

Both of the vertical circulations showed have a doble use, they serve as communication from one level to antoher but also an outdoor auditoriums for the students and faculty members Retail and restaurants Laboratories Administrative area Greenhouse Social areas Vertical circulation Services

The roof garden serves as protection from the sun and as an outdoor greenhouse

To take advantage of the green roof and facilitate teaching lectures the auditorium is located on the fourth floor with direct connection with the green roof.

The roof garden serves as protection from the sun and as an outdoor greenhouse

The north building harbors all the administrative and study areas of the project, this makes it easier to the students to know where to go for help and study areas

The basement was opened to have a more “natural space, the space beneath the holes where the natural light is coming through are the new gardens, also the materials used on the pavement are absorbent to protect the students from falling down when raining

Rainstorm water harvesting used for the pond and for the greenhouse

Right orientation of the building so the hallways serve as protection from the direct sun

Right orientation of the solar panels according to the sun’s pathway

The runways that enclose the greenhouse serve as communication from one building to the other, it also serves as an introspection place for the studens and a relaxing and educational enviorment

More natural light enters the basement and new gardens are added

Greenhouse that houses the site’s natural and local trees, serves as protection and reseach

The green roof serves as protection to the laboratories due to the site’s high solar incidence
