Memory Garden - Landscape and Infrastrucre Design for Internal Corporate Competition LAKE FOREST, IL

Lanscape Intervention.

Allocated with an honorable mention in the competition for the renovation of a garden intended for patients with dementia. Our approach began with thorough research into the specific needs of these patients and contemporary dementia care practices. Armed with this understanding, we developed a design focused on creating a comfortable and engaging environment for patients, while also considering the needs of medical staff and visitors. A key aspect of our design was the implementation of a clear way-finding system to ensure ease of navigation and a sense of security within the space. Additionally, we incorporated features such as a vegetable patch and performance area to provide patients with opportunities for achievement and participation. Central to our design was the inclusion of a glasshouse and fire pit, serving as focal points for social interaction and a sense of place within the garden.

Urban estuaries - Urban Renovationr Gubernamental Competition GUAYAQUIL, EC

This competition is focused on urban renovation for Guayaquil city center. First, it was crucial to research site’s characteristics and societal needs and aspirations. Despite being a potential hub for future opportunities, the city center has unfortunately suffered from neglect by governmental authorities. In our design approach, we incorporate uses that cater to the existing inhabitants while introducing new types of upper-class residences to promote diversity. Furthermore, we recognized the importance of confronting societal challenges such as drug addiction, unsecurity, and prostitution, while including the establishment of rehabilitation and health centers, the creation of safe and vibrant nightlife spaces, and police pavilions throughout the area. Additionally, we committed ourselves to restoring significant historical features that had been previously removed, thereby honoring the city’s rich heritage while paving the way for a brighter future.

Located within a rapidly growing suburban landscape, the proposed high-rise projects are strategically developed to meet the escalating demand for expansive apartment units complemented by amenities catering to the discerning needs of its residents. In response to a market that prioritizes not only comfort but also security and privacy within tall structures, meticulous attention has been paid to develop residential units and opulent communal areas that offer both luxurious living and peace of mind. This project seamlessly integrates the desired features of suburban living, ensuring a comfortable and secure lifestyle for its inhabitants, in alignment with the expectations of the local market

Franciscan Sister of Sacred Heart Senior Living Campus - New Campus, Preservation and Demolition FRANKFORT, IL

The senior living campus in Frankfort, Illinois, is designed to supply the diverse needs of its residents, featuring a suites building for both assisted and independent living, along with three types of cottages and a central clubhouse. With the project envisioned to unfold in three distinct phases, the clubhouse emerges as a pivotal feature within the campus, serving as a focal point to attract stakeholders and foster a sense of community. Prior to finalizing our design, thorough analysis of the site conditions, including potential flood risks, was conducted to ensure the safety of residents. Additionally, we incorporate historical design elements, such as materials and roof conditions, to harmonize the new development with the surrounding architectural context. By blending modern amenities with traditional aesthetics, our senior living campus aims to provide a comfortable and secure environment for residents to thrive in their golden years.

Franciscan Sister of Sacred Heart Senior Living Campus - New Campus, Preservation and Demolition FRANKFORT, IL

The renovation of the village school rooms was a collaborative effort coordinated with the school president acting as the primary client, along with teachers, students, and their legal representatives. The resulting construction showcases a vibrant interior transformation aimed at optimizing learning within a space that balances sobriety with elements of fun. The design of the fixed furniture was tailored to accommodate the diverse needs of each class; while some required closed shelves for storage, others benefited from more open spaces. This holistic approach to renovation ensures that every aspect of the learning environment is tailored to support the needs and activities of both students and educators.

This project marks a significant milestone in Pegasus Elementary School’s programmatic revitalization efforts. It entailed the demolition of an outdated temporary structure, making way for the construction of a modern and comfortable library space for student use. The design prioritizes flexible spaces conducive to enhanced learning experiences while addressing the need for optimal thermal comfort. Solar studies were crucial to regulate natural daylight and minimizing glare. As a result, the library not only offers a contemporary learning space but also promotes sustainability through efficient daylight utilization. Recognizing its innovative approach, the project was featured in the Awards of Excellence section of Learning by Design magazine.

The envisioned mall redefine shopping experiences by prioritizing service amenities and catering to upscale consumers. Positioned as a new destination for both immediate communities and the city of Samborondon, the development aims to elevate the retail landscape. To achieve this, our design incorporates multi-level open spaces that offer captivating views of nearby water elements. By seamlessly integrating these natural features into the mall’s design, we aim to create a unique and immersive environment that not only entices shoppers but also fosters a sense of connection with the surrounding landscape. This innovative approach ensures that the mall becomes more than just a retail hub but also a destination that celebrates the beauty of its coastal location.

Plaza Celeste - Shopping Centre in residential neighbourhood SAMBORODON, EC

Both projects exemplify an ethos of food establishments designed to provide an ideal environment. Que Buen Rollo, a coffee shop, embodies a youthful and natural comfort through its design, employing contrasting earthy tones to create a welcoming atmosphere conducive to work. The optimization of natural light by minimizing solid partitions and strategically positioning the kitchen fosters a sense of connection between consumers and chefs. On the other hand, Pandawa represents a prototype for a tea shop aimed at placement within shopping malls. Its design concept evokes a natural and playful ambiance reminiscent of a lively gathering in a tropical forest, providing a unique and enjoyable experience for mall-goers seeking a refreshing break.

As an integral part of our corporate progress, I actively engage in healthcare design workshops. By meticulously integrating these elements into our designs, we ensure not only aesthetically pleasing outcomes but also structures that comply with the most stringent safety and regulatory requirements. New York Presbyterian Brookyn Methodist Hospital - Space renovation for Catheterization Laboratory BROOKLYN, NY

Both Oasis and Ciudad Santiago were designed to promote urban sprawl and contribute to urban design. Situated in a suburban area of Quito, Oasis serves as a crucial link to the coastal region, yet has predominantly residential development by construction companies. Recognizing the imperative for diverse urban amenities, Oasis aims to enhance the community through the integration of educational and recreational programs. In contrast, Ciudad Santiago, located in Samborondón, the ambitious porject take a pioneering approach by prioritizing healthcare within its urban design. Comprising three interconnected islands connected by bridges, this project facilitates social interaction while preserving residents’ privacy. Ciudad Santiago redefines the urban landscape by striking a balance between traffic flow and communal engagement, thereby elevating public well-being and establishing new benchmarks for urban infrastructure.
