Design Options
Back Garden Option 1: 100% lawn Advantages: Relatively easy to maintain Open space that makes garden look bigger Turf gives an instant impact, however it is more expensive than using lawn from seed Please check https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=410 Disadvantages: No dry access to back sheds which is hazardous and inappropriate in raining season Lawn from seed needs to be certified and takes one full season to establish; also aftercare is more labour intensive than turf Please check https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=424 Regular mowing during spring/summer Restricts the garden from growing fruits, veggies, herbs, trees, shrubs and flowers when mature are very much appreciated for children and family. Design is bland and lacks of identity Estimated cost*: 2 Starting from £16m . Conditions apply. .
Option 2: 50% lawn, 50% gravel + bark
Option 1
Advantages: Easy to maintain Functional design as garden is divided by areas; bark provides a safe place for playing, gravel for walking Versatile materials as gravel and bark can be removed for further planting.
