Challenge:
RE-CONNECT CUSTOMERS WITH THE REGIONS FROM WHICH THEY ARE FROM There are many sites that offer articles on architecture & design, however, an individual needs to take the time to search for a location + architecture on google to get any information. This takes time and there is no guarantee that an individual will want to do this frequently.
Approach:
FAST, EASY - READ ON THE TRAIN RIDE HOME The assumption was that thousands of customers are subscribed to design related sites and see articles from regions all over the world. Customers want to access articles on architecture & design on the go without the hassle of having to search for anything themselves drove the product.
The Beginning
This is Andrew
and
Carla
Andrew wants to find architecture from a specific region and his interests are purely academic
Andrew is an architecture student
Carla wants to keep up with architecture from her home country and view videos of new buildings
and
Carla is a professional gamer
they both have an interest in architecture
Instead of searching the internet for the information they crave, they need an app that can pull all that data for them and have it all in one location

- have option to choose countries, not just states or cities within countries
- on-boarding & tutorial screens need to be unified
- on-boarding instructions clear
- option to increase text size in articles
- automatic hide of side menu when transitioning to new screen
- navigation confusing at first - go back to tutorial if needed
- preview in-app functions during on-boarding process
- locations user determines needs its own menu and sub menus
- enjoyed the scrolling photos vs. slideshow
- shopping area could become more educational with options to purchase from exterior sources
- option to change overall color scheme of app(dark mode) - nice to have separate home menus for selected areas - user interface easy to use
- search function needs enter key - click outside of side menu to make it disappear
- user interface has a learning curve at first but then becomes muscle memory
- Home & News Feed should be separate sections
- needs a content viewed area - enjoys minimalist theme
- enjoys the page transitions - more noticeable swipe to view message

Los Angeles
Bringing student housing, instructional facilities, and administrative offices to one location, ELA condenses the diversity of a college campus into an urban site. How I Got Here: ALL ABOUT IA
The biggest challenge I faced was the IA of the main content screens. I had hypothesized that a home screen with content from all regions was priority. However, as my user testing showed, a home page that separates all content by location was ultimately preferred and expected.
