Flute, Guitar and Violoncello (2008)

Alexander Hunter

Flute, Guitar and Violoncello Performance Note Flute, Guitar and Violoncello was written in February of 2008 for the Napier University New Music Ensemble. The score consists of three uncoordinated instrumental parts written in time (durational) notation. The overall sound of the ensemble should always be very soft (with the absolute absence of vibrato), but not so soft as to sacrifice quality of sound. The time marking should not be taken as absolute, but as a rough guide for pacing. Flute: Each sound is to be played in one breath. Violoncello: Each sound is to be played in one bow, unless otherwise marked. Harmonics are notated where they are to be played Guitar: Be sure you are heard in the ensemble, but do not exceed a quiet dynamic. Harmonics are notated where they are to be played. Each note should be allowed to decay fully before progressing, unless marked otherwise Duration: approximately 5’20 Alexander Hunter 26/02/08
