Our aim is to ensure the New Alex delivers an unrivalled customer experience that’s every bit as World Class as the performers on stage. The highlight has to be our new Piano Bar which has transformed the theatre-going experience, creating a more spacious environment to enjoy a drink whilst being entertained by our resident pianists. The bar is open 90 minutes prior to each performance and will also be open after the show on certain performance nights. Our new pre-visit emails which you will now receive include all the necessary information you need to help make your visit as smooth and enjoyable as possible. With a packed programme of shows well into the New Year there are plenty of reasons to visit. If you have not already booked for our Christmas season with the multi-award winning musical Hairspray be sure to do so soon, as tickets are going fast. The feel-good fun continues into 2016 with the flamboyant favourite Rocky Horror Show and the ‘biggest magic show in decades’ Impossible which is set to trick, astound and amaze you in February. We are pleased to continue delivering world class drama, including the brand new production of Private Lives starring Tom Chambers and the sparkling new stage play with music Breakfast at Tiffany’s, starring the multi award-winning Pixie Lott. A beloved grandfather has died, and a treasured family heirloom with religious significance is up for grabs. But who is most deserving of it? Bossy, overbearing, fanatically religious Daphna? Her wealthy cousin Liam, who’s just returned from skiing with his non-Jewish girlfriend Melody? Or Jonah, his brother, who would prefer not to get involved in the fight?

This nostalgic, feel-good journey will take you back to music’s golden era, the ‘music and magic’ of the early ‘60s, as we follow two teenage sisters through the summer of ’63. For the first time without their parents the sisters embark on a holiday to the seaside. Full of freedom and high spirits they meet a handsome young American who invites them to a dance at the local U.S. Air Force base. But young love and holiday romance is never as simple as it sounds, and the sisters soon realise that while the world around them is still watching itself in black and white, life and love can be much more colourful.

Jackie ® © DC Thomson & Co. Ltd. 2016
Once there was a time with no mobiles, no online dating and no Facebook, when teenage girls waited with bated breath by the letterbox for their weekly issue of Jackie Magazine. In Jackie The Musical we revisit those heady days, and tell the story of a recent divorcée who seeks advice once more from the pages of her old Jackie annuals. The quizzes, the fashion tips, the ‘do’s and don’ts on first date’ and above all the Cathy and Claire problem pages are all eagerly devoured by our plucky heroine as she revisits the dizzy world of the teen bible. With her ex and a handsome new guy in tow, the valuable lessons she learnt as a girl begin to influence her future and Jackie discovers the one person in control of her life is her. Starring Janet Dibley (The Two of Us, EastEnders, Fat Friends), Olivier Award nominee Graham Bickley (Ragtime, Bread) and Nicholas Bailey (EastEnders, The Archers), Jackie the Musical is accompanied by a pulsating sound track of classic 70’s hits. Thrill once more to the unmistakable sounds of pop idols Donny Osmond, David Cassidy, Marc Bolan and many more. Written by Mike James and directed by Anna Linstrum, with original choreography by Arlene Phillips, this fun and feisty night out is a must see.
