MUSE PROJECT:

Marie Laveau

As a project, we were asked to design an line inspired by a muse of our choice. We were challenged to pick someone who wasn’t considered to be an obvious fashion icon. I choose New Orlean’s voodoo prietest, Marie Laveau, who lived in the mid 1800’s. Marie Laveau was born a free African American woman. She has become an icon of New Orleans. While some believe her to be a saint, others say she used her powers for evil. The line is inspired by her Creole background, the traditional voodoo masks she used, the layers of dark textured clothing, and her powerful legacy.

ARCHITECTURE PROJECT:

St. Louis Cathedral

Continuing with the theme of New Orleans, I based my artchitecture project off of the St. Louis Cathedral. This cathedral is an icon in the town of New Orleans. While it was designed with traditional Roman Catholic aspects, the church recognizes the many different characters New Orleans has to offer. It has become an meeting place to blend so many different cultures, races, and walks of life.So this line was created not only to be true to the style of the St. Louis Cathedral, but all of styles it’s people bring to it.

MENSWEAR PROJECT:

Electic Male

This short line of four was the first menswear project I illustrated. It was meant to show a range of styles, prints, and fabrics.

MENSWEAR PROJECT:

Bachelor Party

For this menswear project, we were told to design a line for bachelor party which would be attended by five very different men. There is the bachelor, the tight-wad, the macho man, the flamboyant friend, and the wild card. I choose to model this already seemingly awkward group of friends with a pose inspired by low budget group photography in the 90’s.
