MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRS OF CASEIT 2012 or by whichever detailed methods we are benchmarking ourselves as being “secure”, we may be falling short of our obligations to protect our stakeholders, bottom-line and future. We would like to encourage the discussion of a state of industry as it is, and spark a debate between the practices of post-hoc adaptation and ethical or anticipatory proactive implementation. These are some of the topics that you will be able to engage in with top level industry professionals at our Discussion Panel on February 2nd. We would like to warmly, and graciously thank our sponsors for their generosity and support. Our competition would not have become a reality without the support of our Founding Sponsors: SFU Beedie School of Business and the CIO Association of Canada – Vancouver Chapter, and could not be perpetuated without organizations like our Title Sponsor, CGI. We would also like to humbly thank all of our returning and new sponsors who have kept CaseIT not only going, but growing over the years. On behalf of the organizing committee and our sponsors, we hope to bring you a world class experience in one of the most beautiful cities in the world that will leave you with lifelong Welcome to CaseIT 2012 and stunning Vancouver, Canada!

This year’s theme is Security: Safeguarding Success. Engaging in security is always a secondary concern, as it inevitably must be; it is a means to enabling the ends of business goals.

Security for its own sake has no value or relevance. The main question therefore is: are we secure enough? This constant bench-marking question, and the intelligence and systems used to validate it are vital to continual growth and capture the value of business success. CaseIT has elected to go with Security for its theme in 2012 because large-scale mainstream events have uncovered that whichever methods we are preparing ourselves with, 8
