Lesson Plan Topic: The Olympic and Paralympics games Aimes: To learn about the history about the Olympic Games To practice present simple Skills: Reading and Speaking Level: A1 elementary (primary pupils 4th grade) INTRODUCTION: This topic is included in the sports theme. In this lesson, students already know the name of some sports. In this lesson students learn to read and discuss the history of the Olympic and Paralympics games, using the present simple. Time: 90 minutes Material provided: computer, board WARMER: Write on the board Olympic and Paralympics games; Ask them if they know what it means; Show them the Prezi presentation; http://prezi.com/9bg1gq3mro5p/olympic-games/ While the prezi is shown, ask questions like: do you know what the Olympic symbol represents? ; why these colours are used?; what are the Paralympics games?; do you know the key Olympic values?; where the ancient games took place? Which city is the host of the 2012 Olympic Games? ACTIVITIES: In small groups students should talk about Olympic and Paralympics games for some minutes. Students are already familiar with this type of activity. Then, they will send their activities to the class blog and colleagues will listen to their vokies.
