ABOUT ME
Ph: +503 7221.2832 alexiaesc@gmail.com alexiaescalante.wordpress.com
Hello I’m Alexia, I have a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and a master’s degree in Interior Architecture. I enjoy modernizing interiors and making them functional. I specialize in making spaces unique through the use of color and artwork. I think it is important to have environments that reflect who we are and create a sense of comfort. I am interesded in creating environments where humans can thrive with new ideas and engage in rich interactions. I also have an innate interest in developing ideas of how we can best coexist with the natural environment and design with honesty and consciousness towards our planet’s rich resources.

ROOTS AT HAMPTON HOUSE Individual Project: HOSPITALITY DESIGN Hampton House was a famous hotel in Miami during the time of segregation. It hosted many important activists who used this as safe space to stay during their fight for racial equality. The restaurant at the hotel also became famous for its jazz nights and began attracting all kinds of people who enjoyed music without restrictions of race or color.
Hampton House THE NEW RESTAURANT The revival of the restaurant at the Hampton House comes out of the desire of a young musician to retake the space as a place for music industry meetings and where guests can also enjoy food bites and music.
client needs • PERSONALITY: The client is a musical prodigy, with a reserved personality, and craft oriented in his style of music production. • DESIRES: Intimate experience between the users, the food & drinks, and the music.
Hampton House
Concept model
• SPECIAL FOCUS: Client wants to revive the history of the Hampton House, which was a gathering place for entertainers, and make it relevant for a new generation of performers and friends while maintaining a close relationship to the past restaurant/ bar as a place for social and cultural exchange.

Proposal •

•
Comfort: Seating that is soft and enveloping.
•

SoFi BEACH CLUB GROUP PROJECT: HOSPITALITY DESIGN The enclave South of Fifth Street neighborhood, or “SoFi”, is a retreat located at the southernmost tip of Miami Beach. This area is occupied by cultured residents with holistic lifestyles and a select number of international tourists. Although this unique area features white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and many popular hospitality venues, it lacks a center which brings together the local community and like-minded tourists. The new “Seaside Retreat” will offer a haven and gathering point at the heart of the South of Fifth Street district. INDIVIDUAL WORK: Graphics and Second floor development.

SENSORY STIMULATION The goal was to study movement and motion as design elements to support mind renewal and clarity. The design is achieving renewal and clarity by applying texture and surface patterns that seem to flow. The perceived motion in the patterns of the designed screens allow for mental calmness or activity depending on the individual.

ONLINE DESIGN FOR CLIENT Client contacted us to request design assistance for her family’s new outdoor space. The project was completed online because the client lives in the U.S. Our solution for her was to provide a mood board with furniture and accesories from U.S vendors as well as a shopping list with links to the suggested items. The Outcome: Client loved the experience of being involved in the project via online and felt more confident in her purchasing decisions because she was given a detailed design solution.

RESIDENTIAL/FURNITURE RESTORATION Client contacted us to provide design solutions for her home’s dining room and outdoor spaces. We immediately suggested using a perfectly bookmatched wallpaper in her dining room. The client wanted to keep her existing furiture and layout, so we recommended to restore the furniture fabrics for outdoor performance Sunbrella fabric in the terrace and vegan leather for the dining room chairs. The energetic color combination for the spaces reflect our client’s bold personality. The Outcome: Our client was ecsatic about the introduction of the color choices in her home. She also appreciated the quality of the materials used to restore her furniture pieces.

CORPORATE OFFICE SPACE For this project, the client needed help giving personality to the telecommunications office within their educational institution. When visiting the space, we noticed the users where mostly young college students and we were immediately inspired by their young and vibrant work style. Our solution was to create a series of geometric murals in color combinations that included the institution’s brand colors to reinforce this idea of identity. By doing this, we wanted to provide an interesting visual break from the computer screens for the users. We also used zero VOC paint from Sherwin Williams and added plants to improve air quality in the space. The Outcome: Both our client and the users felt empowered and a greater sense of belonging.
