ATLANTA , GEORGIA
CONCEPT The NEXT satellite office in Atlanta, Georgia is an innovative, high-tech workplace with the universal well-being of all people built into the design. NEXT gives employees a sense of place to ensure emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being as they transition to the new normal. The golden ratio in conjunction with Gestalt Principles helps define relationships between the architecture and interiors. Research has found that the connection with nature through color, materials, and biophilia increases productivity, provides mental clarity and inspires employees. The golden ratio, also called the “divine proportion is found within nature. This proportion has been tied to harmony and balance through creating spaces that are functional and have an equilibrium. This ratio was taken from nature and applied to the existing architecture, working within fractal parts of the building to create a unified whole. When this concept is applied to the 5 spatial typologies, an environment rooted in creativity, energy, inspiration, stability, and focus is formed. This foundation is in tune with human rhythms, facilitating degrees of interaction and user control over their environment. The Savannah Color Hypothesis works to solidify bonds between humans and nature. Through implementing the WELL standards, the well-being of all people is reinforced as the center of the design.
INSPIRATION IMAGES
Above all, NEXT wants employees to feel safe and comfortable coming back to work. Through positive emotional experiences and making the well-being of people the center of the design, the user is in control of their day, providing comfort and adaptability.
GOLDEN RATIO AND FIBONACCI The floor plan for NEXT was conceptualized through relationships of the architecture in combination with the golden spiral found in nature. Once different zones were established, the diagrams were interpreted literally and as fractals within the spaces. Different zones were established to aligned with the spatial typologies to meet the needs of the NEXT office. The result is a space built on an innate human response to nature and the peace, harmony, and balance that comes with that bond.
