The "business" of any good article directory is to manage content responsibly. Content for an article directory is a valuable commodity and this responsibility must not be taken for granted nor mismanaged in any way, shape or form or they take the great risk of losing not only the credibility of their business, but losing the most important components that make up the actual value of the commodity; accomplished authors and their quality content. Accomplished authors will be irreplaceably lost if they do not feel completely secure that their quality articles, which they entrusted the article directory to protect and syndicate, are not being managed and protected by someone who highly values their hard work and intellectual property. How can the security of these articles, the directory's commodity, be threatened? There are several ways: 1. An Infusion and Acceptance of Low Quality Content The very reputation of a directory will be lost if it accepts poorly written content full of grammar and spelling errors, unoriginal in its ideas and origin, or destroyed by multiple versions created by poor "spinning" techniques that dissect and scramble words, randomly injected by a thesaurus without human interaction and intelligence deployed, into unintelligible sentences and paragraphs, resulting in a cyber-garbage. This poor excuse for content or even an "article" for that matter, dilutes the overall quality of a directory if it is accepted and published by the directory. 2. The Loss of Quality Content Seekers Individuals come seeking high quality content from the directory to be used in their own websites and blogs. When the high quality content is picked up and republished, an accomplished author receives further syndication of their articles and thus more exposure and income opportunity by directing readers to their business that is related to the content. If the directory is also full of poor content that has been irresponsibly accepted, the content seekers will soon grow weary of having to sludge through all the cyber-garbage in the hopes of finding that "nugget" of great quality they want and are proud to offer their customers to read. It will not take long for them to abandon the poor quality directory in order to seek quality content elsewhere. The loss of quality content seekers renders the accomplished authors work useless and their articles quickly lose the value they once had by never being viewed or syndicated. 3. Poor Management of Authors Like any business an article directory will attract "customers", both good and not so good.

Good customers, accomplished authors, have pride in their work. To them, an article is more than just a way to get links back to their website to make money. It is a way for them to proudly share their unique expertise with people who are truly interested in the subject or niche they are writing about, by providing valuable information about it. However, as accomplished authors, they also have the ability to articulate this information in a way that will encourage the reader to seek more information from them by visiting their website or business location and perhaps purchasing a product or service because they feel comfortable that the author is an expert in this product or service. These accomplished authors have the dual talent of not only making money from their expertise but to do it with a pure motive of helping others with useful information at the same time. Bad customers, link seekers only, could care less about quality writing or providing useful, well articulated information. They are only interested in getting any article that remotely masquerades as information, published in a poorly managed directory, which will hopefully distribute their illwritten article because of lack of quality controls in place, solely to get the link back to their sites which they hope will create traffic and ultimately buyers of whatever their products or services may be. There are, unfortunately, hundreds of directories that will accept any author and publish any articles from good to bad. It is the responsibility of a quality article directory to manage its authors and weed out the accomplished authors from the link seekers by having responsible quality controls in place to do so. The primary functions of an article directory are to accept, distribute [publish] articles to the Internet, and to an extent syndicate them through various other methods, where appropriate. However, any article directory only has value, especially in these days of search engine crackdowns to ensure quality search results, if they perceive themselves, and act as, the caretaker and protector of the articles, the directory commodity, that an accomplished author is entrusting to them to manage responsibly, to help grow and to add more value to their hard work. Function and responsibility are two uniquely separate embodiments of an article directory. Any article directory can perform the function of distribution and syndication. Hundreds of them ONLY accomplish this aspect by blindly distributing and syndicating poor quality articles along with the good with no responsibility or quality control. The good, top directory, will only perform function if it completely incorporates the responsibility of totally managing the commodity with unquestionable integrity and impeccable quality control.
