Along the main road in the village, it is away too crowded to build a school. Therefore, after analyzing several possible locations, I finally comfirmed the site which is in the middle uphill part of the village. I started to arrange different schemes, and the logic of the one chosen is firstly placing four blocks enclosing middle part with corridor surrounding(let the massing be scattered to avoid heat assembling) , and I rotate two blocks in 20 degree owing to the height of the hall may block the prevailing wind. In the last, I internalized corridors and extend the middle space to exaggerate the concept, and a giant cover roof is to prevent from the rainfull.

Climate Stategy and Human Activity The main strategy principle is to maximize the ventilation and minimize the direct sunlight but introduce diffuse light. In terms of structure, corridors are applied, so does overhang truss. I intentionally planted trees against the prevailing wind direction. By doing so, it can block off the hot sun, on the other hand, while the wind blowing through the shade of the trees, the wind temperature may be cooled off before penertrating into the indoor spaces. In terms of human activity, different temperature spaces including indoor, semi-open, open, shaded space are offered for various demand people. Plus, the continuous sectional isometric diagram shows how people occupy the spaces and active within them.

Bird view (right) The school become an iconic landmark surrounded with tropical greens in the village due to the giant fabric suspesion cover roof supported by four leaning concrete piers. The graphic cross form can be easily identified, and the louvers spread all over buildings.
Entrance and Plaza (down) Since I found that in this village it is lack of community open spaces, I aim to make the school not only a education center but a venue that festival or seminar etc. can be held that residence can join.

Classroom with one operable wall opened
To be contrast with rigid form of classrooms, interlocking circular slabs are created as a tree pavilion, growing experiment space and sand box for kids to explore and advent.
A flexible size of room provides chlidren various activity using. By means of utilizing the normal classroom space and the multi-functional room, intergrated learning experience can be realized. For instance, different subjects can be held within different classroom configurations, students can thus play music, paint, present group activity etc. or interact with students from other classes.
Hallway outside classrooms (left) A 3 meters linear wide corridor offers opportunities for students to walk in on others. It trigers them to have chances to chat, learn and share on their way. This is not only a corridor, but a large semi-open space for dining and relaxation which is under the fence climbing with vine. At the end of the corridor is the canteen counter where students can buy their meals and snacks. The rotatable bamboo rattan doors can also be seen in this view.
Learning center is a retangular shaped form with diversed program including projection room, library, computer learning space, lounge, and science presentation area. I intend not to insert any partitions to divide the spaces; instead, the layout of the programs themself indirectly define the space boundary. Since it is a long linear building, and large amount of sunlight is blocked by the corridor and overhang, thus, a small courtyard planted with tropical plants is installed in the middle to introduce adequate but diffused light.
Mezzanine floor (left) This special space is created for pupils to have an alternative to play or take a rest. It is totally free for them that I even didnt program it. In the initial stage, I stacked all the programs according to the brief together without considering any details idea, such as circulation and opening. It is the stage to test different possibilities of arranging assigned programs.
First step was trying to transfrom the calligraphy stroke to fit the site which had already considered the site constraint. Then literally transformed the concept to the architecuralform (extrude the stroke) and tested whether the programs fit the form suitablely or not.
After encountering program-arranging problems and working deeper with the site constraint, new form was born with well-considered circulation and program layout.
Finally, by doing more research and working with the process, the form was comfirmed. Circulation, residence, and entrance have been made a big improvement and the parti eventually showed up concisely. Openings and some revisions are improved in the final model as well.
