DEN

DENVER COLORADO The City and County of Denver is the capital and most populous municipality of the U.S. state of Colorado. As of 2014, Denver is also the most populous county in Colorado. Denver is located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Denver downtown district is located immediately east of the confluence of Cherry Creek with the South Platte River, approximately 12 mi (19 km) east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Denver is nicknamed the Mile-High City because its official elevation is exactly one mile (5,280 ft or 1,610 m) above sea level, making it one of the highest major cities in the United States.[9] The 105th meridian west of Greenwich, the longitudinal reference for the Mountain Time Zone, passes directly through Denver Union Station.

DE V E LO P M E N T When starting exploration for my mark I had lots of ideas, mabye even too many. I had created too many aethetically pleasing marks instead of relflecting the city I was assigned. So I went back to the drawing board and Google to get a better understanding of what my logo had to represent. I came across a map of elevations of the Rocky Mountains (above) and made the connection between the two marks I had made (below) and the measurment of elevation. You maybe asking how this relates to the actual city of Denver. Well Denver is known as being the “mile high city, so I used this fact to again connect it to measurements and the mountains .

LET TERMARK

My logo represents the picturesqe landscape view of the city in front of the moutinas. DEN is cut up into different layers to represent measurement and how the altittude rises as you travle further into the city and up the moutians. The E is backwards to reflect the background mountains and their sudden accent from the flat plains of the midwest.

B O O K A N T I Q UA I chose a san serif font to serve as a contrast between my logos font style. This also represents the contrast between the urban, heavily populated area of Denver and the natural, desolate moutains that sit beside.

PRIMARY—TEAL GREEN [59Y]

C O LO R S All three colors are cool toned to reflect the cold whether that is always associated with Denver and living next to mountains. The light green symbolizes the light and airy snow atop the mountains and dark blue reflects the dark earth beneath. The lighter blue is the life and energy of the city below the mountians.

SECONDARY—INDIGO BKUE [96M], MIDNIGHT [75M, 85M]

TO U C H P O I N T S

This mark helps reflect the famous landscape of the city and an unexpected twist on how we look at measurements

The mark is bold and breathtaking, just like the mountains in the distance that can be seen anywhere in Denver.
