Poetry What Have I Done
A Human Being
The Decision
What have I done She's gone…What have I done With all the fun I had With the one That I almost won Oh wait... That's my mistake, I offered a flake At the time of her headache, I didn't know… What I had to know, About her flu… I had no clue. At my leisure… She was under pressure… It wasn't a pleasure That was destiny… That took her away from me Away… apart… it was hard Her aflutter hair... I missed Her soft skin.... I missed Our future… I kissed goodbye I don't want to die…. Alone But I want to fly Up high.... into the sky Leaving all guilt behind As if I were blind.
What's there to a human being? Open eyes but not seeing Beating heart but not feeling Filling the air with his screaming Give back to him his meaning Without it he can't stop bleeding And now he has stopped believing In this world, he now dies tearing Leaving behind all the pain Becoming alone and in vain Always searching for something more Which always leaves him tired and sore Losing grip of everything Always left with nothing Choking on every single word Trying to fight with a blunt sword Sweating so much in the freezing cold Greying hair yet not so old Losing life with every second passing by Born with no wings yet always trying to fly Hiding behind the truth it will always lie No matter how strong it will always die What's there to a human being Open eyes but not seeing In the face of its foes always fleeing The end of its road, it will always be fearing
I‘ve been sitting long in The dark Searching long and hard within my heart, Is it worth the years I will spend? Or will I suffer in the end. Are the praises that I will receive Worth more than the cries no one will perceive. A choice that can tear me apart, Or that can grant me a blessed heart. The time is near For an answer I shall make absent of any peer. And one I will make confidently and bold. A life saving lives, I have been sold. Into a journey that’s unfamiliar but friendly That my heart has sent me, It is worth the years I will spend And it is worth it in the End.

What is a human being? The dictionary describes it as “having the characteristics or nature of people.” So what are these characteristics? Human nature in itself refers to traits we have naturally, independently of external influences. This idea of humanity has been a matter of historical debate dating back to Socrates. His students believed that the “human soul” is divided into parts; one part is rational, ruling over the remaining parts, which are home to desires. In the Middle Ages “human nature” became a common term, but the debate of what it is or whether it exists continued. One modern take proposed that humans had once been without reason, language or communities. A common idea is that babies are born with white slates, so what influences our “writings?” Are we directed by external factors, or driven by innate rules? It’s difficult to maintain an argument that can withstand all criticism; we notice how everyone smiles the same. However some humans override our “basic instinct” of survival by committing suicide. This doesn’t mean human nature does not exist; it could be our nature is subordinate to our mind. This has not been won by any side, and may never be. I believe that everyone is different, yet everyone is exactly the same. Y O U R
