and held annually in Monaco, the NFL invites the athletes, both professional and amateur, to run, during its eight days of competition, on its specially arranged running track at the Port Hercule. For each kilometre covered by the runners, the Children & Future Association promises 1,15€ for the children in need around the

According to the tradition, the first ever athletic competition was inaugurated in 776 B.C. at Olympia in the Peloponnesos, Ancient Greece. Later on, theses games were also practiced in other Greek-speaking cities such as Delphi, Nemea, and Isthmia. These games were then called Panhellenistic (pan=all, hellenikos=Greek). Athletics, for the ancient Greeks, were all about one's physical endeavor to overtake an opponent. For this reason, sports in ancient Greece generally excluded team competitions. For this same reason, footraces were a major attraction during the Olympic Games. The race was the ultimate summation of the feat of an individual, propelled on his own on a racecourse before a demanding public, and – ultimately – his triumphant struggle against elements.

Global Climate Change

Since 2013, the Cuomo Foundation, in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, grants scholarships to a number of doctoral researchers from developing countries. This scholarship programme, originally launched in 2011, is an initiative of the Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change (IPCC), Geneva. Established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988, the IPCC is the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. The relevance of the submitted project proposals to the issues related to climate change is in fact a determining factor to be eligible for this programme.

that the
Foundation could provide the University with. The fact that this University has been conducting valuable research and creating highly skilled professionals for over fifty years in the field of natural resources management – especially of water – particularly appealed to the Foundation. It goes without saying that, in order to limit the harm already caused to the planet by climate change and to implement solutions for the future, States need to have their own local actors who perfectly grasp the specificities of each country. Hence, both the fellowship programme and now this future partnership with the Water Resource University are major steps taken by the Foundation to contribute to the global efforts made in favour of a sustainable natural resource management.
