Advisor to the President Hadi for Defense and Security Affairs Ali Mohsen Saleh al-Ahmar headed on Wednesday for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) along with official delegation on an official visit.

Upon his departure, Saleh said that the visit aims to convey a letter from President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Chancellor and Special Envoy for the Saudi King.

The letter deals with cooperation relations between Yemen and Saudi Arabia and ways of strengthening them. rested three al-Qaeda militants who were planning to carry out assassinations against political and security officers in the province, Yemen’s Defense Ministry website reported.

The arrest came under the extensive crackdown that the security services in Taiz has been carrying out since the beginning of this year to hunt down all terrorists, outlaws and wanted people in the province.

GOV. COMPENSATES PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS AFFECTED BY 2011 CRISIS The Supreme Committee, formed recently by the Cabinet, has agreed to compensate the private institutions in the capital which have been affected by the 2011 crisis with a total cost estimated at $ 3 billion and 800 million riyals, the state-run news agency Saba reported.

This came in a meeting of the

Committee, which was chaired on Wednesday by Finance Minister Sakhr al-Wajih and Public Works Minister Omar al-Kurshomi as well as his undersecretary engineer Mo’een Hashim al-Mahageri.

Al-Mahageri noted that the compensation came after the Higher Ministerial Committee had discussed the technical reports on the concerned people to restore their affected institutions as spon-

sored and approved by both the Capital Secretariat and the Public Works Ministry.

He also said that the Committee also approved the disbursement of compensation to the beneficiaries directly across the Postal General Authority, pointing out that it was agreed upon to pass on the exchange bills completely too each affected party through the Capital Secretariat bureau and the

gether to resist these criminal actions and put an end to them.

The Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce asked the state to live up to its responsibility in the provision of the simplest human rights to its citizens realized in the protection of their lives, rights and properties, declaring the refusal of all Yemenis of the criminal actions which cause damage to the national economy and distort the image of the local market in the minds of the private capitals which desire to invest in Yemen as well as being a repellent to the national capital, which is a major national force.

YEMENI PRESIDENT ACCUSED OF TREASON Some MPs supported MP Beshr’s act, while others representing the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) bloc objected to the request and asked Beshr to withdraw the charge, but

the latter insisted on his request based on the reasons he presented, which include breaching the sovereignty of Yemen by allowing U.S. raids and government corruption.

Parliament Speaker Yahya al-Ra’ee asked Abdo Beshr to withdraw the charge, although he said that Hadi is responsible for the mistakes.

A legal source said that the legal aspect of Beshr’s demand is ambiguous, as in natural cases and with the consensus 151 MPs the parliament has the right to charge the president with treason. After being charged with treason, the president is referred to trial and the House Speaker assumes powers of the president until presidential elections are held.

However, the legal source pointed out that the GCC initiative has suspended the current constitution which raises confusion about the legal status of the Parliament’s requests to charge senior state officials with treason.

and founded with a group of colleagues who left the GPC a new bloc in the parliament. The bloc which was formed in 2011 was called the Free MPs bloc.

Beshr was then dismissed from the Free MPs Bloc in April 2012 to establish a new party called Ahrar Organization.

nprecedentedly, Aden city is seriously experiencing deterioration in security and morality all together.

Drugs and Qat chewing are sweeping Aden youths as this phenomenon is on the raise. Many dwellers of this city are nagging and complaining the recent and wide spread of this bad phenomenon which destructs lives of youths.

Security sources in the province stated that nearly 10 million drug pills have been caught in Aden which had been transferred inside the city.

Abdul-Razaq Abdu, 55, is a dweller of Aden city said that there are hidden political agenda “I believe” behind all this chaos and insecurity.

“Aden is targeted and wanted to be destructed morally,” Abdu confirmed.

One of Aden businesswomen, Masia Ibrahim -35-, said that Aden city is collapsed. “Aden youths now use drug pills in a horrible way. They do not work; they just spend their time chewing Qat and use drugs. They

She confirmed “they sometime steal money from their parents or somewhere else.”

“This is really tragic and must stop.”

“I’m working on a project right here but parties we work with do not carry out work on time. They complain and postpone. They are not determined to implement work. People unfortunately

A pharmacist Finan Ahmed, 30, expressed resentment of situations in the province saying these acts are disastrous. “What is going on here is unacceptable.

The politicians further attribute this to the role played by Hirak (Southern Movement) which emerged in southern provinces to protest injustice following the 1990 unity.

Hirak tried to create chaos and organize marches and commit disobedience in an attempt to split from the south. The movement called Yemen security and army as occupation that should leave southern provinces according to it. It wants autonomy.

POVERTY DEMOLISHES CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS SANA’A – For sceneries, Yemeni people stuck to their rich customs and traditions which made them distinctive however, the constant economic deterioration demolishes and shrinks many of these customs. During the past two decades, Yemeni people found themselves obliged to drop many of their customs due to the price hikes and declining economy. The UNICEF report of 2011 stated that 45% of the Yemeni people live under poverty line.

Having small wedding parties instead of big ones is one of the main customs influenced by the economic deterioration in Yemen. In the past, the wedding party used to last for one week during which the families of both the bride and the groom used to invite all friends and relatives to spend about one week with them celebrating the wedding.

The costs of food, fireworks…etc. were high.

However, during the past two decades people shrink gradually many of the wedding party rituals; the duration becomes one day, only close friends and relatives are invited for lunch and no fireworks or live ammunition…etc.

Rashed Ahmed, 58, of Sana’a said, “people used to celebrate the wedding for five to seven days when everything was affordable, but now many rituals vanished.”

He added, “people now celebrate the one day wedding and invite only neighbors and close relatives.”

Moreover, it was a custom that the brothers-in-law bring 50 Kg of wheat, 50 kg of sugar, 20 kg of ghee, as well as one sheep, Qat and tobacco as a support for the groom, nevertheless people have abandoned this custom and replaced it with amount of money, “ the food stuff that we used to bring in the past with about YR 20,000 cost us now about YR80,000 which is difficult to provide particularly for people in villages, “ mentioned Ibrahim Yahya, 56.

brothers-in-law when they built their houses but could not afford the same support to his cousin when he built his house three years ago, “ it has become a big burden and very difficult to provide,” he said adding, “the affordable help nowadays is restricted to giving a loan not free support.”

Moreover, having a banquet and slaughtering a sheep when receiving a new son is one of the customs demolishes due to the declining economic situation.

When a father receives a new son, the father making a big banquet and invite the relatives and some of his close friends. Also, the uncle of the infant brings one sheep as well as some food stuff.

Hamed Ali Saeed, noted that his brothers-in-law had seven sons and with

it was a custom to bring sheep or to money for any of your relative as an aid if he is building house the coming of each son, he brought one sheep but nowadays he stopped as his economic situation does not help, “that was in the past but now it is difficult…if I want to buy sheep to give it to my brother-in-law, I have to give more than half of my salary,” Saeed confirmed.

SAUDI BORDER GUARDS SHOOT DEAD SMUGGLER, ARREST THREE OTHERS Al - Masdar - 03.09.2013 - A Somali smuggler was killed Saturday by the hands of Saudi Border Guards in al-Mejanah area while three Yemenis believed to be smuggling Qat were arrested. Sources said that the Somali smuggler nicknamed “Ghost” was killed as he attempted to escape a Saudi Border Guard patrol.

The Saudi Border Guards raided the smugglers area after monitoring them Saturday night via thermal footage and surrounded them before shooting dead the Somali who attempted to flee to no avail.

A source at Taiz’s Security Committee said that security apparatuses arrested three alQaida elements as they were plotting for assassinations of security and political officials in the province. Yemen won, Tuesday September 3, three awards at the eighth session of the Dubai Cultural Creativity Competition 2012/2013, in the areas of Short Stories, Novels and Fine Arts, in addition to the Fine Arts jury notification of a participant from Yemen.

Yemeni contestant Khaled Abdulhalim al-Absi won second prize for his collection “Pains that lost their charm," while Ziad Nasser Al-Ansi won fourth prize in the field of fine arts. In addition, Bassam Shamsuddin won the fifth prize in the field of Novels with "The Curse of attitudes," the jury noted participation of Zeinab Ali Rani in the field of Fine Arts.

The award also comes in recognition of his efforts during his leadership of the Secretariat of Sana'a and his constructive contributions to the infrastructure development in addition to his contributions in preserving the old city of Sana’a, one of the historical Islamic cities.

The conference lasted for three days with the participation of more than 400 members of the OICC, agencies, institutions, government agencies, consultation offices, private sector and local, regional and international bodies. According to Saba, Secretary of the capital, Abdelqader Hilal said that the conference reviewed best practices and products of scientific, research and applied technology and the successful experiences of the Islamic capitals. He said that it also discussed the organization's activity on the achievement of sustainable development in the Islamic Capitals and Cities.

Hilal pointed out that he discussed on the sidelines of the conference a number of topics related to strengthening bilateral relations between the capital Sana’a and a number of Islamic capitals and the possibility of twinning with other cities. He also discussed benefitting from the successful experiences of some countries, especially in the work of the municipalities, the service sector and how to take advantage of their expertise to work on the development of the capital Sana’a.

First place in the field of handicrafts and craftsmanship was secured by Yousef Ahmed Yousef for his copper scissors and won YR 300 thousand. The duo Mohamed Yehya Mosawa and his wife Fatima Mohammed took second place in the field of sewing quilts and won YR 250 thousand, while the third prize was equally shared between Walid al-Sarrem for his work on his wood sculpture and Atiqa al-Amrani for her “Palm Fronds” craft which amounted to YR 150 thousand.
