The Hatching Of Wawa's New Goose

Article by Brian Lachine, Photos supplied The Municipality of Wawa has been gearing up for the Canada 150 celebrations and the unveiling of our new goose on July 1st. We have been receiving updates from Research Casting based in Trenton, Ontario, who are making our beloved new goose. The goose is almost completed and is made of stainless steel with a copper coating to prevent rust, which has plagued our current goose for years. Research Casting is scheduled to be taking down the current goose on Monday, June 26th, so the Sunday evening would have been your very last chance to take your final picture with the goose before it is dismantled.

Don’t forget to make your way down to the Tourist Information Center on July

1st for all of our Canada Day activities as well as the grand unveiling of our new goose!

Wesdome Gold Mine Inc. has committed a 3-year $15,000 donation to the Lady Dunn Health Centre Foundation.

“We wanted to provide meaningful support to the Lady Dunn Health Centre Foundation in its goal of investing in modern health care equipment and services towards our community. Our hope is that our three year financial commitment helps the Foundation in meeting

Seniors Expo Offers Info For All Ages

The Seniors Expo held last Wednesday in the Community Centre was a buzz with more than 15 exhibitors offering information and innovation making life enjoyable in our senior years.

Representatives offered great information and friendly assistance in many areas.

- Robert Holland, D.Ch. a Registered Chiropodist with over 30 years' experience is now taking appointments in Wawa. Bob offers help in alleviating and curing many foot conditions such as ingrown toenails, athletes foot, bunions, corns, spurs, warts, high arches, Plantar Fasciitis and much more. To book an appointment or for more information call Lady Dunn Hospital.

- Wawa Family Health Team offer a wide range of healthy activity programs: "Stand Up" fall prevention exercises, chairbased fitness programs, walking program, and total fitness programs. Two demonstrations were held periodically at the venue throughout the Expo for people to join in and get a sampling of what to expect in these worthwhile programs.

- Elder Abuse - "It's Not Right" is a program whereby one can identify abuse and help older adults at risk. You may be the neighbour, friend or family member who can make a positive difference in the life of an older adult experiencing abuse. It is everyones responsibility to recognize the warning signs and learn how to be supportive and safe. Go to www.its notright.ca for more information. Look for other national events happening as every year at this time the "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day" brings universal recognition to this accelerating problem.

- Royal Canadian Legion Branch 429 - It's a very exciting time for revamping the accessibility of the Legion Hall.

Plans to install an elevator in the Hall are gelling and "Lift for the Legion" fundraiser kicks off July 1st holiday weekend. Look for the sombreros and be sure to have a nacho and a margarita or two in support of the Legion's fundraising celebrations.

- North Algoma Diabetes

Education Program - sponsored by the Lady Dunn Health Centre. If you are 40 years of age or over, you are at risk for type 2 diabetes and should be tested at least every three years. If not treated or properly managed, diabetes can result in a variety of complications, including: heart disease and stroke, kidney disease, eye disease, erectile dysfunction and nerve damage.

Good diabetes management can help to prevent or delay these complications - talk to your health care provider.

- Canadian Red Cross - offers many community assistance programs: Priority Assistance to Transition Home (PATH) helping patients make the transition from hospital to home safely, smoothly and comfortably, Disaster Services, Meals on Wheels, Transportation, Home Maintenance, and Friendly Visiting programs. By phoning 2-1-1 information on many programs can be accessed: social clubs, recreation, seniors' centres, computer classes, home care services, utility assistance, chronic disease programs, elder abuse advocacy, grocery help, retirement homes, volunteer centres and much more.

- Wawa Goose Seniors' Club - designed for persons 55 or older and interested in socializing occasionally or regularly.

They offer organized activities such as bridge, bingo, euchre, cribbage, mah jongg, pot luck dinners for special occasions and special fundraising events.

- NE LHIN Home and Community Care Services.

Services include home nursing services to address medical needs, personal care support including bathing and dressing, physiotherapy assisting with physical problems arising from pain, illness, accident or injury, occupational therapy assisting with problems due to physical or cognitive challenges, speech language therapy, helping with nutritional difficulties, and maximizing social and emotional functioning. - Fenlon's Pharmacy - offers several confidential services to discuss health needs: Ontario Drug Benefit and Meds Check Program to review any concerns

about medication regimes, and Pharmacy prepared dosage packages whereby pills are separated into daily dosage packs for easy opening and visual identification. A recently introduced program addresses a very timely issue, the Naloxone Program.

The National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities has scheduled naloxone hydrochloride for injection when indicated for emergency use in opioid overdose outside a hospital setting. It no longer requires a prescription to be dispensed and Fenlon's pharmacy has on hand naloxone emergency kits free of charge to eligible patients.

- Flu and Shingles Vaccine Info - Certain vaccines are very important for people in their senior years and at 50 years or over, you are at increased risk.

Be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about the flu and shingles vaccine.

- Wawa's EDC Green Project - In keeping the momentum continuing on protecting our environment, EDC reps handed out a "toilet tank bank" to everyone visiting their booth whereby the bag when filled with water and hung in the toilet tank will reduce wasted flushing water volumes.

Also a rebate coupon for 50% up to $50.00 was offered to anyone who purchases a composter between June 14th and July 14th, 2017. Contact Shawn Mahon for details (705) 8564419.

- Chadwic Home - dedicated to the eradication of all forms of violence and abuse against women and children by providing short term assistance with housing, supplying emergency transportation, help with safety planning, information and referrals, advocacy, accompanyment to appointments and emotional support. 24 hour support line l-800-461-2242.

- Victim Services - specially trained crisis responders will provide short term confidential, emotional and practical assistance to victims of crime and tragic circumstance. In Wawa phone (705) 856-7852.

- Motion Specialties - serving Northern Ontario from Sault Ste Marie to Hornepayne, a company dedicated to providing health care products and services tailored to meet ones specific needs. They are committed to a program of ongoing education with partners and sales team made of kinesiologists, therapists and industry professionals. Techician Steve Bennardo was on scene to demonstrate a wide variety of scooters, walking devices, wheelchairs and a lift chair and encouraged anyone to take a spin around the demo area.

- Lions Club - has been serving Wawa since 1941 and offer a wide array of health assistance products: raised toilet seats, shower seats, slider shower benches, adjustable footed walking canes and a variety of walkers with wheels, brakes, and seats for pause comfort. All equipment is available for loan,

expense free.

Much thanks goes to Canadian Red Cross in Wawa where Darlene Trovarello, Community Services Co-ordinator and staff again worked diligently in bringing the Seniors Expo to enlighten us and urge us to look after our health to enable us to complete our community in adding wisdom in experience from all of us great seniors.

Wawa is expecting a new Goose! It was really nice to be at the farewell of the old Goose and I saw a few Legion members there who responded to President Mary Anne's invitation.

Everything is quiet and I hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far and hopefully the weather will be good for the Fiesta weekend.

Last Saturday cribbage winners were 1st Iris and Cliff, 2nd John and Keith, 3rd Carol and Joan and boobs were Jody and Irene. Meat spin was won by Jeanette and 50/50 by Luke.

Wawa’s Most Unpopular Summer Resident…

Beautiful Wawa Creek Falls aka black fly breeding ground.

Like the rest of Canadians, Northern Algoma residents crave the warm sun, lush forests and outdoor activities of our fleeting summer season.

However, the season is also a favourite time for Northern Ontario’s most prolific residents, the annoying mosquito, the swarming black fly, and the elusive no-see-um.

While the voyageurs of long ago used to grow their hair long for bug protection, and today’s tree-planters seem to swear by the repellant method of bathing only when absolutely necessary, centuries of travellers and Northern residents provide us with colourful and varied pesky tales and remedies.

A local Ojibway legend states that mosquitoes were introduced to the northern forests in order to keep men and women on their toes.

Women were created to keep the men company but as a result of this new companionship, regular chores and daily work were neglected. The villages were deserted and the woods became the romantic hideaway for lover’s and wedded bliss. As the story goes, Kitch Manitou created sawgi-may (the mosquito) and set him up in the forests and bushes as the preferred habitat. The results? Men and women were quick to return home and get back to work.

In 1798, the cartographer David Thompson noted that the future of scientific exploration on the shores of Lake Superior was hindered by the innumerable hardships they would encounter. The explorers “must carry their

Provisions with them, live in tents exposed to the Rains and Storms on the Lake, and the worst of all, myriads of Musquitoes.” Fellow travellers frequently commented on how they were denied the pleasure of enjoying the scenery, short hikes and beautiful waterfalls along Superior’s east shore, due to the clouds of flies that made exploration miserable.

Published in 1924, Charles B. Reed’s The Four-Way Lodge probably gives us the best description of the bane of Northern Ontario. When the thermometer rose, the flies swarmed out, as the poet would say, “in clouds”, or as the more practical … declared, “like smoke”. These pests divide up the day into watches and each species does his time religiously. As the sun goes down, the midges, or “no-see-ums”, fill the air and cover the skin like pepper.

About eight o’clock they retire in favour of the mosquito, who spends the night in ribald song and bloodshed. At daylight, the “no-see-um” comes on duty again only to give place to the black fly.

How have humans learned to survive while their skin and sweet blood is under constant attack? The indigenous inhabitants had a variety of methods. One was to crush certain leaves between their palms and rub the plants juices on their skin.

Reapplication was required after any exertion or long trek with necessary gear and equipment. Voyageurs and their passengers were sometimes known to mix animal

grease with skunk oil to produce a noxious odour that likely kept more than just the bugs at arm’s length.

While at rest, the campfire was the best weapon against the clouds of insects. A “smudge”, or smoke, was created by placing wet branches on the fire. If the shelter was aligned properly the smoke could be directed over the campsite in order that it protected the weary occupants from the constant droning attack of tiny air-borne predators intent on a taste of human nectar.

Author Stewart Edward White, who was a regular visitor to the east shore of Superior, attempted to prepare the outdoor adventurer and fisherman in his 1904 book The Forest. He suggested an array of prescriptions for protection against the insect pest.

A head-net falling well down over your chest, or even tied under your arm-pits… will keep vast numbers of flies out, to be sure. It will also keep the few adventurous discoverers in, where you can neither kill nor eject. Likewise you are deprived of your pipe; and the common homely comfort of spitting on your bait is totally denied you.

Next in order come the various “dopes”. And they are various. From the stickiest, blackest pastes to the silkiest, suavest oils they range, through the grades of essence, salve, and cream. Every man has his own recipe…As a general rule, it may be stated that the thicker kinds last longer and are generally more thoroughly effective, but the lighter are pleasanter to wear though requiring more frequent application. At a pinch, ordinary pork fat is good.

While we enjoy the relief that air-conditioned trailers, oily Muskol, greasy Skin-SoSoft and smoky Pic coils provide, just think of the grease covered travellers in summers gone by who sacrificed their blood and skin to the swarms of pesky forest residents before us!

SJD's Got Talent!

SJD’s got talent – instrumental, vocals, dancing, magical and comical talent that is! On Friday, May 5th, students, from as young as Senior Kindergarten to our older students sang, played the piano and guitar, danced, and performed magic for an audience made up of students, staff, parents and grandparents. What a show! We can't wait for next year!

Thank you to Spirit Council, Ms. Portis, and Ms. Russell for organizing this event. It was amazing!

On May 3rd SJD Floor Hockey teams attended a 3 on 3 tournament at Ecole Elementaire Saint-Joseph.

The tournament was very well run by some ex-Saint Joseph students as well as current students. SJD was able to send four teams, two girls and two boys teams.

Boys Teams (Green Hawks and Yellow Leafs) coached

by Josh and Carter. Girls Teams (Gold Oilers and Blue Sharks) coached by Brooke and Annika.

SJD’s girls teams played some excellent games but unfortunately lost in the quarter and semi final games.

Both Boys teams finished in first place in their pools, but the Green Hawks had a three-way tie for first so missed the playoffs by +/scores. The Yellow Leafs however made it to the finals against Dubreuiville and won the exciting full length gym game 7-5. Winning the Gold medal. Awesome Boys!

A big thanks to the four coaches and to all the students for their sportsmanship and excellent behaviour on such a great day.

Law Enforcement Torch Run Will Be In Wawa

(WAWA, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Detachments and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service (SSMPS) are pleased to announce that the Law Enforcement TORCH RUN for Special Olympics Ontario will be coming to Wawa Ontario.

With the support of community partners and the community itself, this initiative will assist and support the Special Olympics athletes.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.

Special Olympics Ontario provides sports training and competition for over 16,000 people with an intellectual

disability.

The Torch Run will take place on June 21st, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. located at 3 Chris Simon Drive Wawa and will conclude at 40 Broadway Ave. Wawa.

All donations will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged. Local drop off points for donations include the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Building at 580 Second Line East or the Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Detachment at 40 Broadway Ave. Wawa.

A Graduation Debacle It is graduation season again for another year. I remember in one particular school it turned into quite the debacle. This happened in 2015. The graduation ceremonies at Hillcrest Heights High School in the town of Schoolbrook were held in the auditorium on Friday, June 26thth. Afterwards there was a reception in the gym. Both the teachers and the Students Council put a lot of work getting things ready. It's too bad things turned out the way they did. As an interested bystander I can explain.

So, before this day arrived, there were several meetings of the teachers graduation committee to determine such things as the final graduates list and who the valedictorian would be that year.

The female staff wanted Jessica Whitmore. The male staff wanted Joshua Wilmot. They both were tied in their grade scores.

Jessica was Publicity Chair for the school paper, played basketball and volleyball, was a cheerleader, was in the school band, and the Glee Club. In fact, she was the student who got it going for the first time at the school.

Joshua also was active in sports: hockey, basketball, and soccer.

He was the quarterback of the football team. He also was on the executive of the school paper, and in the drama club. One thing everyone agreed on was that they were both well rounded students and both deserving of the honour. The principal, Emile French, came up with a novel idea – make them co-valedictorians. That suggestion was shot down immediately. After a lot of headed debate, in the end it was decided that Joshua would be the valedictorian.

Then they moved on to pick a guest speaker. After batting around many names, their choice was Dr. Avery Smith. She was a former graduate of the school, who had gone on to become a well-known and respected cancer researcher at Princess Margaret Hospital. The Math teacher, Georgina Harrington, knew her sister June Wilson. She had mentioned to her that she was coming to town to see her niece graduate, so she would be here anyway. She also was going to the Summer Wine Tasting event put on by the Hospital Foundation Saturday night.

Georgina agreed to contact her and see if she would be willing to give an address that night.

The final item was the awards and bursaries recipients. As always, that also created quite a heated discussion, but a list was finally agreed upon. They adjourned that particular meeting with an agreement for a final one on Wednesday, June 24th, just to make sure everything was coming together okay. Each teacher gave their report.

Miss Gertrude Booker, the Librarian, advised that the auditorium was all decorated, chairs were lined up for everyone on the stage. A section was roped off on the floor for the graduates. The podium was in place. The audio

and visual equipment had been tested, and were working fine.

The 'Congratulations, Graduates' banner had been raised. The piano had been tuned and put in place, ready to be used for the opening of 'Oh, Canada' and the closing of 'God Save The Queen'.

Miss Bea Oncy, the music department head, would do the honours. The table to hold the diplomas was in place. It had been agreed that no caps and gowns would be worn this year, but suits & ties for the boys, and a sensible dress for the girls was a requirement. Everyone knew the students hated wearing them anyway, and it had always been so expensive to replace missing items when they were returned to the church choir. Everyone agreed that this would eliminate that hassle and cost.

Mrs. Pauline English, coincidentally, the English teacher, gave her report on the status of the gym. It had been decorated with flowers and streamers of the school colours. The tables were set up for the refreshments and desserts, which would be delivered for six on Saturday.

Next up was the school secretary, Miss Mabel Henderson.

She reported the programs had been printed. She handed each one a copy. She informed them that Joshua had been notified of his valedictorian duties. She also advised them that Dr. Smith had agreed to be the guest speaker.

She thanked Georgina for arranging it and reminded everyone that her fee was to be donated to the Glee Club. Finally, she noted that the presenters of the awards and bursaries had been contacted, and given the details of what they had to do at the ceremony.

Once everything was covered, they turned to the latest gossip. Miss Booker lead off.

“Did you hear about the fight between our two hothead kids from Grade 12, Jack Willfail and Jason Wishtograd? As you know, Jack is a good friend of Jessica, and Jason is friends with Joshua.

Jack felt she should be valedictorian, while Jason defended him. I gather there was quite a scuffle down at Mickey's Diner at lunchtime today. I hope we haven't created a problem with our choice.”

Mrs. English commented, “It wouldn't matter who we chose.

You can't satisfy everyone. I think Joshua will do a fine job.”

Mrs. Harrington threw out another nugget. “I was talking to Dr. Smith's sister last night.

Apparently she is not too pleased that her niece Jasmine, is not the valedictorian. She also feels she should have been granted a spot in the program to show off her singing and musical talent. At least she is still going to be our speaker. I just hope she doesn't make any comments about this in her speech.” Everyone agreed that she was too professional to do that, or so they hoped.

Then they turned to rumours of what some of the students planned to wear. There was some concern about that too, but

just had to hope nobody wore anything too outrageous, trying to make a statement. After thrashing that topic over, they adjourned.

Friday night arrived. The ceremony went off without a hitch. Dr. Smith gave an inspiring speech without any reference to her niece not being chosen as valedictorian. Then the time came to present Joshua with his collection of bursaries, sports trophies, and diploma, and for him to give his address.

Mr. French called his name several times. He then looked around to the teachers on the platform, pleading for some help. They all just shrugged their shoulders, and looked back and forth at each other, obviously uncertain where he was either, or what they should do next.

Dr. Smith was still on the stage, waiting to see what would happen. Then she made her move, and piped up. “Seeing Mr. Wilmot is not here, I suggest we let Miss Whitmore fill in for him. Could you help us out here, Jessica?”

Mr. French seethed as he glared at her for this sabotage.

Before he could say or do anything, everyone began clapping as she came up onto the stage and stood by the mike, ready to deliver her own prepared address. He had no choice but to let her go ahead.

As much as he hated to admit it, she gave a fabulous speech, and it went over well with everyone.

She even sang and played the piano like she wanted, right after the speech. She got a standing ovation at the end.

Afterwards, there was a lot of chatter among the teachers and Mr. French. Nobody knew what could have happened to Joshua. His parents came up to him, demanding to know where their son was. He had to admit that he didn't know. He asked them if they had brought him to the school, or had he been planning to come on his own, or with some of his school friends. They told him that they had brought him. He left them about ten minutes before things began, saying he was so nervous, and had to go to the bathroom. He never came back. They had kept watching for him to join his fellow students, but he never did show up. They were worried.

Mr. Wilmot suggested maybe he had got locked in the bathroom somehow, and shouldn't security or a teacher check that out.

French agreed that was a good starting place.

They began with the nearest one to the auditorium, and expanded their search. The final bathroom was in the basement. They were just about to go upstairs after finding it empty, when they heard a faint tapping on the door of the janitor's room next door.

French opened it, and found Joshua slumped just inside. As he knelt over him, he smelled booze on his breath, and on his clothes. He had obviously been drinking to calm his nerves likely, he immediately thought, and said so out loud. His parents denied that. His speech was slurred and mumbled, but he finally got them to understand that he had been attacked in the bathroom by two guys, and dragged here. They poured some vodka all over his clothes, and then forced him to drink the rest of the bottle of

Vodka along with a pill that knocked him out. He just came to moments ago. The principal asked him who these guys were, but all he did was shake his head.

He told him that they had threatened to hurt his younger brother Jacob, if he ever said anything.

Jacob still had three more years at this school, and he wouldn't be around to defend him, so he agreed to say nothing. They took him to the nurse's station to sober up. Miss Henderson brought him a cup of coffee. He sipped at it. At that point, French said as he began to leave, “I am going to have a talk with Dr. Smith. I am sure she is involved in this, especially after that debacle earlier.”

He tracked her down in the gym as she was talking to her niece and sister. He angrily confronted them, demanding to know which students they conned into doing such a nasty thing. Jessica looked horrified at the suggestion. Dr. Smith just grinned and shrugged her shoulders, claiming to know nothing.

Her mother said nothing, but had a guilty look, he noticed.

The weak link, he knew. He vowed to get her alone and get the truth out of her.

He got his chance a few minutes later, just as she was going into the ladies' bathroom. He blocked the door, and quickly got her to admit that they had persuaded two of Jessica's classmates, one of them being Jack, to 'incapacitate' him, but for just the length of the ceremony. They had tried to stop him earlier, but missed their opportunity. With him heading to the bathroom they knew this was their last chance. Lucky for them, unlucky for him, she declared. She got indignant then, and told him that her daughter deserved to be valedictorian more than him.

He had tried to seduce her at the Christmas school dance last year, as well as some other girls.

He was not as nice a person as he appeared, she concluded, and forcefully pushed past him into the bathroom. He was stunned at this revelation, musing to himself about who was worse, the kids or the adults.

He went back to the nurses' station to let Joshua know what he had learned. He was surprised to find him gone, along with his parents. He assumed they had taken him home. He had just gone a few feet up the hall towards the gym when his parents came rushing up to him. Mr. Wilmot panted, “We've been looking all over for Joshua.

Do you know where he is?” He stared at them, then said, “No, I don't. I just assumed you took him home.” They were interrupted by yelling coming from the gym. They rushed in to see what was happening. It was a fight between Joshua, Jack, Justin (a friend of Jack's) and Jason.

Chairs and the food table, including the punch bowl, smashed to the ground with a terrible noise in the struggle. Finally, the teachers were able to pull them apart. Once order was restored, Joshua raised his voice.

“I am going to give my speech now, so listen up everybody. I didn't spend all this time struggling with it, not to have it go to waste. Gather round.” He began.

French listened in amazement.

It was a rousing speech, but he wasn't sure if he was sober or still drunk, as he spoke. Once

he was finished there was clapping. Then there were cheers as he went over to Jessica, and hugged her. He took her hand, and faced her towards him. He looked into her eyes, and said, “I understand you gave a great speech tonight. Congratulations.

No hard feelings.” She smiled guiltily, and replied, “Yes, sure.

I apologize for what they did to you. I just told my mother that I would have liked to have been the valedictorian, but came to terms that it was not to be. I never dreamed they would go to such lengths to achieve it for me. I swear that I had nothing to do with what happened to you tonight. My mother just told me to get a speech ready, just in case you got sick and couldn't make it. She assured me it was just a precaution, like being the backup QB in football, you know. I'm so sorry!” He kissed her, and then turned to everyone and called out for the reception to continue. Unfortunately, the mood was ruined, as was the gym, so everyone began leaving. Jessica and Joshua stayed behind to help clean up the mess. Dr. Smith and her sister knew it was time to leave. They soon returned however. Dr. Smith was furious. She declared, “Someone has tampered with my sister's car. All the tires are flat. The air has been let out of them. They are flat as a pancake. And the door handles are covered in whip cream. Did you do this, Joshua?” He politely replied, “No, ma'am. I am too much of a gentleman to resort to those sorts of antics.” The jab did not go unnoticed. Then she turned to Mr. French and asked him the same question. He gave a mock look of shock. “Who me? I don't know anything about this, and I can't imagine who would do such a thing. What a shame. I am sure it's some of the kids acting up on their last day of being at this school. I bet you pulled some mean pranks when you were their age here at this school.” Those comments hit home. She realized this was payback, and she deserved it. So she just turned away, and headed out to the parking lot to wait for the tow truck to arrive. Her sister June began to follow her out, after quickly glancing over to where Joshua and Jessica had returned to the cleanup. Then she came back to them and sheepishly said to her, “Don't be too late getting home. Your father should be back from his business trip to Vancouver by now. He will want to see you, no matter how tired he may be, I am sure. So please don't be too late. But do have fun, but don't do anything foolish.” She glared at Joshua momentarily. Everyone knew that comment/threat was directed at Joshua. Then she quickly turned away, and disappeared out the gym door.

I can only imagine what sort of conversation went on out there.

And I can guess who really likely did flatten those car tires. Can you???? All I will say is I believe the initials are JW – maybe that Jason kid, eh? What, you think me? Just because my initials are JW too? Well, I say! Then again, you may be right. P.S. Let's hope things go better this year on graduation night this Friday, June 24th. However, after our last meeting before graduation today, Wednesday, June 22nd, I am not too hopeful. Still lingering after all the plans were finalized are the resentments from the same contentious issues over scholarships, awards, and who is to be the valedictorian.

Personality clashes are still there.

The guest speaker, Norman Cash, sounds pretty boring to me. He is a financial planner from our town's only bank. He is from their head office, so at least it is not anyone connected with the school. That should ensure there is no conniving like Dr. Smith did last year.

One nice thing, though, came out of last year's debacle. Jessica and Joshua are now a couple, despite being at different universities. I think they just might make a go of it. -JW-
