From my results, its clear to see that establishing shots at the beginning of the film are important to the audience, to understand the location of the film and to begin to understand the story line. Lighting which I believe to be one of the most important code and conventions in horror films, got 100% positive responses about the impression of danger that the flashing lights gave and the increasing tension.

I consider sound to be one of the most important conventions in horror films, to build tension. My questionnaire supported this as 24 people out of 26 thought that the use of the loud alarm, was effective in create a sense of doom for the character. 84.62% of my responses to my questionnaire thought that the camera shot of the long corridor created a sense of claustrophobia and doom for the character.Â
From my results it's clear to see that the characters costume
was important when helping the audience tell who the character is. However, lighting is seen as the most important mise-en-scene and most effective from my responses. Which is the same as what I have said in my vlog about the most effective codes and conventions.

From my responses, the audience thought that because the 'monster' wasn’t shown it increased the suspense as there is a sense of the unknown. Furthermore, almost 100% of my responses thought that the use of the classic title at the beginning was effective. Additionally my group and I could use a similar style in our final film.

My responses from my questionnaire thought that the set being at night created a overall atmosphere of, danger and fear as it gave a eerie effect. Therefore, in my final film my group and I could perhaps experiment filming certain things at night. Also it is clear to see that the quick pace of the camera shots added to the overall tension of the opening scene.Â
