2002 Dhaka – Belgium Nasrin was carrying out environmental studies in Bangladesh when she received a bursary and therewith the opportunity to continue her studies in Belgium at the Institute of Environmental Physics at the University of Brussels. Her fiancé had been living in the UK since 2000 and was getting ground under his feet. With her move to Belgium, the young couple where looking forward to seeing more of each other and finding out where to settle and start a family.

When a new mosque was built, he felt sure enough of his position as Imam to the community to bring along wife, three youngest daughters and son. The oldest daughter had already married and started a family in Dhaka, and therefore stayed behind.

1998 one month 2000 half a year when one of her daughters got married. The family choose to celebrate the wedding in Dhaka and Refu went to organise the big day 2003 four months, when the next daughter got married. Again, the family hosted the celebrations in Bangladesh and again, Refu went with her daughter to help her organise the wedding. Unfortunately, Refu’s own mother was taken ill whilst she was there and Refu prolonged her stay take care of her.

2000, four weeks connected to a family wedding 2003, all year on sabbatical and really wanted to try how it would be to live in Bangladesh 2005, a couple of months whilst she was studying at Kent Institute of Art & Design. She researched folk arts and traditional crafts in Bangladesh as a part of her studies 2008, she is looking forward to spending her full month of holiday in Dhaka and will again see if she can find work and make her stay there more permanent.
