FFor the fourth consecutive year, the global Arabian community gathered on the beautiful Polo Grounds of WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona, for one of the marquee events on the international calendar: the Arabian Breeders World Cup. Condensed to a more engaging three-day schedule, the show was held from Thursday the 28th through Saturday the 30th of March, moving forward one day to avoid a conflict with Easter Sunday.
Scottsdale has been home to the World Cup since 2021, when the life-saving decision was made by the Arabian Horse Breeders Alliance (AHBA) Board of Directors to conduct the show outdoors at WestWorld rather than miss another opportunity to host the show in its original location in Las Vegas at the South Point Events Center. The global COVID-19 pandemic had cancelled the 2020 World Cup just weeks before show date, and remaining restrictions for indoor venues in 2021 made hosting the World Cup an impossibility during the traditional time frame of mid-April. Thus the long-held dream to host an outdoor internationalstyle show in Scottsdale finally came to fruition, with the World Cup.
For those not accustomed to outdoor halter events, the World Cup at WestWorld has been a welcome respite. The Polo Grounds are the perfect venue: an expansive, beautifully manicured, green field, ideally situated near the facility entrance with easy access and ample parking, all set against the imposing backdrop of the Mc-
Dowell Mountain range. Once the white marquees are assembled to enclose the show ground and provide shade for the VIP guests, officials, vendors and awards, it’s as if a new pristine facility has popped up overnight, one purposefully created to showcase the best of the Arabian horse and to provide maximum comfort and enjoyment for the breeders, owners, professionals and enthusiasts who have come to support the breed.
While there has been growing interest from the international community for the World Cup to return to Las Vegas, the most recent Scottsdale edition of the event gave everyone reason to reconsider, as the show put it very best foot forward with increased sponsorship support, an elevated set-up and design, more rewarding perks for VIP guests and even more prizes and awards for winners at an event already known for the best award haul in the business. With the exception of gale force winds that challenged the integrity of the sponsor banners on Saturday, the weather was perfect for Scottsdale in late March – sunny, dry and pleasant, with temperatures comfortably in the 70s, following cool nights and the wettest Spring in the region for more than a quarter century.
For guests and exhibitors alike, fellowship, camaraderie and sportsmanship were at an all-time high, reminiscent of the first World Cup events in Las Vegas, when everyone worked together to support each other for the betterment of the breed. The welcome addition of the EMIRATES
ARABIAN HORSE GLOBAL CUP, a first for North America to host an ECAHOaccredited event supported by an international Arabian Horse Society, contributed considerable excitement and celebration, with more awards and titles distributed to a greater number of owners and breeders and significant prize money won by breeding horses of all ages.
While the glitz and glamor of the event in Las Vegas is certainly missed by most, the evening farm visits, in which local breeders can showcase their breeding programmes and everyone comes together in a genuine and warm sense of community, have elevated the experience of the entire event to its most important and authentic purpose, aligning perfectly with the mission and vision of the AHBA to promote the breeding of Arabian horses and advance the breeders responsible for each new generation of excellence.
Most reassuringly, given the recent decline in horse numbers at most Arabian shows worldwide, entries remained at the same level as 2023, with 125 horses forward to compete for the ultimate honour of World Cup Supreme Champion. The additional appeal of earning prize money at every age and of being crowned Emirates Global Cup Champion buoyed interest considerably, with a significant number of small breeders supporting the show, many for the very first time. A comprehensively global team of judges – comprised of Helen Hennekens (Belgium), Mario Braga (Brazil), Ted Carson, (USA) Jonas
The Arabian Horse Breeders’ World Cup and participants thank His Royal Highness, Mohammed VI, King of Morocco and his Royal Stables, Haras de Bouznika, for his gracious and generous patronage of this world class event.
Salzmann (Kuwait), James Swaenepoel (Belgium) and Isaac Taylor (USA). The presence of Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS) Director-General Mohamed Al Harbi, EAHS Consultant Deirdre Hyde and ECAHO President Jaroslav Lacina added further prestige to event, as all were on hand not only to present the awards in the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup, but also to meet and engage with local breeders, owners and exhibitors and to support the evolution of the World Cup. For the first time since the trailblazing event had been held in Scottsdale, it was beginning to feel like the ‘world’ was once again rightfully represented at, and an essential part of, the World Cup.
For those who have faithfully supported the World Cup since 2007, when the event burst onto the international scene with great fanfare and seismically transformative change, they understand and appreciate the attention given to amateur
handlers as integral to the success of the show. Created with inclusivity in mind, it has always been the aim of the World Cup to showcase amateur handled and/or owned horses alongside the best Arabian horses competing in the breed, to not only make those owners and exhibitors feel a vital part of the elite global community, but to also give those horses the opportunity to shine under the same prestigious spotlight at an event that enjoys universal acclaim and respect. The magnitude of the awards presented to the Amateur to Handle (ATH) Supreme Champions, which include some of the largest cups awarded in breed anywhere in the world, attest to the high regard in which these horses, handlers and owners are held at the World Cup.
Competition was once again fierce in the Mare/Filly ATH division, with several gorgeous females presented in every age split. The three entries scored highest proved triumphant in the Supreme Mare/Filly
ATH Championship, with the refreshingly complete VICTORIA AS named Gold Champion for Sonrisa Farms. Linebred to World Champion Gazal Al Shaqab (Anaza El Farid x Kajora by Kaborr), VICTORIA is also blessed with the invaluable influence of two esteemed international aristocrat dams: Veronica GA (Versace x Echo Belle by Echo Magnifficoo) and *Taamara HVP (Don El Chall x Tananaa by Namek), both responsible for her exceptional quality, feminine elegance and impressive length and shape of neck. Named Silver Supreme Champion was the exotically headed, colourfully marked, chestnut ROYAL BELEZZA, whose cherished parents are both Brazilian in origin and trace back to many of the most celebrated Arabians from South America, including the iconic matrons Jullye El Ludjin (Ludjin El Jamaal x NV Justa Dream by Bey Shah) and MFA Exoticaa (Echo Magnifficoo x MFA Hucklehoneybey by Huckleberry Bey).
The youngest filly amongst the competition, the exquisite POSHA GIANA PCF, was named Supreme Bronze Champion for proud owner Sam Peacemaker. Representing an impressive eight generations of PCF breeding on both sides of her distinguished pedigree. POSHA GIANA is the daughter of venerated Scottsdale & US National Champions Pilatus PCF (Exxalt x Alexandria PCF by PCF Vision) and Giana Leah PCF (Polidoro FC x Aliyah Vision PCF by PCF Vision). Her capable handler, Koy Moody, was awarded the Amateur Handler of Excellence Trophy from the international judging panel for her skill, sportsmanship and horsewomanship, all of which gave Team PCF more reason to celebrate. While Murray & Shirley Popplewell, always formidable competitors in this division, were left out of the winners’ circle on Championship Saturday, they did not leave empty handed as their homebred RD RHAFIELLA was awarded the High Score Feet & Legs trophy for her exceptional conformation.
Entries in the stallion/colt/gelding ATH division were surprisingly light, with just five horses forward. The geldings, which are always rightfully celebrated in North America, held their own, taking home both the Silver & Bronze Supreme Championships. Lisa Atterberry and Dina Cale’s flamboyant, athletic and substantial MEER AUDAZ V gave a sensational performance with Ally Nelson at the lead, which secured him the Bronze
Champion title, while Koy Moody’s own JAIDEN ENB, a decidedly more refined and elegant gelding with considerable length of leg, finished strongly as Silver Supreme Champion. The same combination of genetics, with World Cup Supreme Gold Champion *AJ Radman (Vervaldee x Felicia RLC By *Shael Dream Desert) as the sire and Brazilian breeding legend El Tino (DA Valentino x Imprimista CF by Bey Imprimis) as the maternal grandsire, were responsible not only for JAIDEN ENB, but the eventual Supreme Gold Champion Gelding ROYAL REIGN. A beautiful, smartly marked, bright chestnut, very reminiscent of his illustrious sire, ROYAL REIGN lived up to his namesake for proud owners and breeders Cindy McGown and Mark Davis with daughter Amanda Pagan capably at the lead for a command performance.
ROYAL REIGN was also named Champion AHBA Legacy Futurity Yearling Colt/Gelding ATH, with JAIDEN ENB earning the championship in the AHBA Legacy Futurity Two Year Old Colts. RaeDawn’s dynamic RD INDIGO, a son of six-time National Champion *Preludio OSB (Dominic M x Partyssima OSB by Sir Fames HBV) and out of their premier broodmare RD Quianna (Shanghai EA x PCF Crystal Vision by PCF Vision), was honoured with the Reserve Championship and the corresponding futurity prize money payout behind ROYAL REIGN. Rae-Dawn prevailed, however, in the division with the biggest prize money pay-
out, that for AHBA Futurity nominated Yearlings. The homebred and owned RD ATTIKA scored a respectable 325.0 with Murray the at the lead, four points ahead of the Reserve Champion ROYAL LUKA and Amanda Pagan for Cindy McGown & Mark Davis.
The winner of the hotly contested AHBA Auction Futurity for yearling fillies was the captivating CHAMPAGNE NIGHT LRA, a fourth-generation Armstrong Arabians-bred beauty that was expertly handled by Jordan Simons for an ecstatic Ron and Laura. Brynlee Guimaraes finished just one half point behind with the undeniably charming OLIVIA ANVIL as Reserve Champion in the AHBA Auction Futurity Yearling Filly Championship, after winning the championship the day prior in the AHBA Legacy Futurity Yearling Filly ATH with the exact same score of 325.0 for a very happy Alejandro & Ana Vigil. Royal Arabians scored two more winners in the AHBA Legacy Futurity Filly classes with daughters of their very successful sire AJ Radman. ROYAL GHADA was honoured as Champion Two Year Old Filly and highest scoring exhibit among all the futurity entries, and ROYAL PANDORAA was named Reserve Champion Yearling Filly. The Cedar Ridge-bred AMES ARMARETTO KISSES, a fancy daughter of multi-National Champion Stallion Polidoro FC (DA Valentino x *ABHA Palma by *Marwan Al Shaqab) was Reserve Champion Two Year Old Filly for owners Sandro Pinha and Gil Valdez.

As had been the case since the very first World Cup seventeen years ago, the largest section was once again yearling fillies with 26 entries forward. Superior quality was present from top to bottom, with the ten highest scoring fillies returning for the Supreme Championship on Saturday afternoon, a premier attraction that follows just after morning brunch and official opening ceremonies. Two of the brightest stars from the Scottsdale All-Arabian Show just six weeks earlier were again rewarded for their excellence by yet another panel of distinguished judges. The most talked about horse of the show proved to be the filly who earned the Supreme Gold Championship with four votes for gold and two for silver – the magnificent MARLAYNA PCF. Improbably tall and captivatingly elegant with a gorgeous forehand, exuberant tail carriage and a commandingly confident show ring presence, MARLYANA, is even more impressively, an eight-generation PCF Arabians-bred masterpiece, with two crosses to their inimitable foundation sire PCF Vision

The reigning Scottsdale International Gold Champion Yearling Filly SEDRA ALGHAZALI redeemed herself in the championship final, finishing as Bronze Supreme Champion, after a rather sedate performance in the qualifying class. An exceptionally pretty filly with an abundance of size, grace and charisma, SEDRA is yet another testament to the prepotent siring ability of *AJ Radman.
The most refreshing surprise in the final line-up was the triumph of AL NOOR MIRALENA as Supreme Silver Champion, one of the youngest contenders in the class who made her show ring debut
at the World Cup. The quintessential success story for small breeder and owner Sherry Conrads of Al Noor Arabians in California, MIRALENA is a consummate blend of the best bloodlines from both the Om El Arab and Varian Arabians programmes. An exquisitely petite filly who exudes refinement, quality and femininity, MIRALENA remained compellingly composed every time she came into the ring, enchanting the judges and spectators alike while gaining an enthusiastic fan base of support. MIRALENA’s triumph, both in the World Cup and the Emirates Global Cup, was an indisputable highlight of the entire weekend and proof positive that the small breeder can most assuredly achieve at the highest level. From the very first foal crop of Om El Maximus (Magic Magnifique x Om El Bint Beneera by Om El Shahlimar), MIRALENA is a testament to his ability to sire exotic type of the highest calibre, including her breed ideal head, which was justifiably awarded the trophy for Highest Scoring Head. The judges were all in agreement that the quality of the yearling colts was as high as the fillies, a rare occurrence anywhere in the world. So deep was the competition in 2024 that several of the most highly rewarded colts from the Scottsdale Show in February were left out of the medals entirely at the World Cup. Ultimately, the three highest scoring colts ended up ranked in the exact same order in the final line-up, beginning with the impressively complete and well balanced *NADER ALBIDAYER winning the title of Supreme Gold Champion. A fourth-generation Albidayer-bred champion, NADER is not only one of the finest examples of the siring ability of his four-time National Champion sire *Rhan Al Shahania (*Marwan Al Shaqab x Jwaaher Al Shahania by FA El Rasheem), but
his tail-female line traces directly to one of the most illustrious mares in Arabian breed history: three-time World Champion and twice undefeated Triple Crown, *Pianissima (*Gazal Al Shaqab x Pianosa by *Eukaliptus).
The judges’ choice for Supreme Silver Champion was the reigning Scottsdale Reserve Champion Junior Colt SYNATRA, the banner carrying progeny of the popular sire *Sharif Al Zobair (FA El Rasheem x Risalah Al Zobair by Marajj). A tall, scopey, handsome and refined colt with immense eyes and a striking silhouette, SYNATRA is very reminiscent of his venerated dam: international champion *HDF Fontonella (Quasim CRH x HDF Baronesa by HDF Lugano), a Brazilian-bred beauty who was
sagaciously leased by Joe Polo and successfully campaigned in North America. Recognized with the Supreme Bronze Championship was another powerhouse mover bred by Rae-Dawn, RD BACARO, who was deservedly awarded the crystal trophy for the Highest Score in the category of Movement. Sired by Brazilian National Champion RFI Unique (AF Maden x RFI Ultraa Maktub by RFI Maktub), BACARO is more importantly a third-generation RD-bred champion, tracing back to the iconic multi-US National Champion NW Siena Psyche (Padrons Psyche x NV Shanteuse by Bey Shah) through the ‘Queen of Rae-Dawn’ - RD Marciea Bey (Bey Ambition x RD Marciena by QR Marc), who has been recently honoured with her very own Breyer replica.

Among the junior fillies, the choices gained more international momentum, with pedigrees, origins and ownership of the medallists representing a broad-cross section of taste, style and acclaim. The Supreme Gold Championship was justly awarded to the highest scoring female of the entire show: the evocative VANNA
A, bred by Australian-American Alexandra Hodsman and now proudly owned by Peng Jiang of China. Exotically beautiful with size, scope and elegance, VANNA was fresh off her Scottsdale International Silver Championship from February, looking even more polished and composed in the outdoor setting. Sired by international sire of significance S.M.A.
Magic One (Psytadel x Majidah Bint Pacha by AS Sinans Pacha), a Belgian-bred supersire now in residence in the UAE, VANNA is yet another superlative example of the prolific production of her venerated dam Ava Maryia (Eden C x Dakara EA by Dakar El Jamaal), source of World Champions Algamra (by AJ Portofino) and Aisha Al Sheikh (by Jyar Meia Lua).

A consistent winner at both Scottsdale and the Arabian Breeders Finals as a yearling, ROYAL MIA is a second-generation McGown & Davis-bred champion with direct links to Brazilian royalty through both her sire and dam. The Supreme Bronze Champion, *ROYAL BLACK MOON, was actually bred in Brazil by Royal Arabians and recently imported. Named United States National Silver Champion in the Two Year Old Breeding Pay$ Futurity in October, the aptly named BLACK MOON is a beguiling filly with a promising future and an impeccable pedigree.
Unsurprisingly, the colt that emerged victorious in the Junior Colt Supreme Championship was the same that had triumphed in Scottsdale less than six weeks earlier: RHAPHAEL SBA. Honoured as Supreme Gold Champion RHAPHAEL is yet another rising star among the growing collection of acclaimed progeny sired by *Rhan Al Shahania, and, more importantly, a direct tail-female descendant of legendary broodmatron Amety B (Eternety
x Amiga-B by Bask El Amigo), source of all the Angels, Princesses, Duchesses and Goddesses of Marwan fame. Earning the Supreme Silver Championship was another royally-bred colt – ARIA HELIOS, proudly bred by Sahara Scottsdale and now under the ownership of PCF Arabians. The ultimate honour of the title of Supreme Senior Mare Champion is a jewel in the crown for any show mare who accepts the challenge of elite competition at the World Cup. The contenders forward were some of the very best ever to grace the ring in World Cup competition, the result of which resulted in an unprecedented threeway tie for Supreme Gold Champion. Breaking the tie for the Silver and Bronze
Supreme Championship titles was decided in the category of movement, giving the edge to three-time United States National Champion EXXALTRESS. Masterminded by the Emirates Arabian Horse Society to encourage the breeding of Arabian horses worldwide, the truly global initiative encompasses ten shows on six continents over the course of a calendar year. The annual tour plans to award over a million euro in prize money to small breeders for horses locally bred and owned, all funded by the generous patronage
of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates. A total of 250,000 emirati dirham, an equivalent value of just under $70,000 USD, was committed to the North American Championship, with prize money paid from first through fifth in all ten qualifying classes. Designed to reward small breeders/owners, those who breed fifteen or less purebred foals each year, the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup is unquestionably the richest prize money programme for halter horses of all ages ever offered in North America.
The Global Cup provided its own unique scorecard, which assesses exhibits in seven categories from one to ten, giving judges the opportunity to score a single exhibit twice under two different systems. Only three of the five judges selected to adjudicate each of the breeding classes were tasked with scoring the Global Cup qualified exhibits twice using both the World Cup and the Global Cup scorecards, which allowed for greater variation in results and more opportunity for horses to earn acclaim in both competitions. With prize money only allocated to qualifying classes, 5000 emirati dirham for each place getter

from first through fifth, great fanfare was given to the prize giving in all the Global Cup qualifying classes, with winners receiving EAGHC-NAC logo emblazoned caps and photos taken with large format checks alongside a representative from the EAHS.
On Saturday, those horses qualified for Global Cup Championships returned for one final assessment following the Supreme Championships in their corresponding age divisions. Just four championships were offered in the inaugural season – a Junior Filly and a Junior Colt
Championship for horses three years and younger as well as a Senior Mare and a Senior Stallion Championship for horses aged four years and older – with several high-profile horses choosing only to return for Global Cup honours as a testament to the importance of the competition.
The Junior Filly Championship proved to be the most highly competitive, with eight gorgeous fillies forward for assessment. The unanimous choice of all three judges was most predictably AL NOOR MIRALENA, the Supreme Silver

SILVERA highlight of the World Cup is always the competition for the highly coveted Breeders Cup, which honours those breeders whose horses have achieved the greatest results across all division. An integral part of the show since the very beginning, the Breeders Cup recognizes five Breeders of Distinction each year, with the breeder who accumulates the most points afforded the ultimate honour of having their name engraved on the base of the grand silver cup synonymous with the event’s identity worldwide. For 2024, the breeders celebrated in centre ring just prior to the Senior Stallion Supreme
Championship were Dr. Ben Bassichis of Stella Bella Arabians, Sam & Sandy Peacemaker of PCF Arabians, Murray & Shirley Popplewell of Rae-Dawn Arabians and former winners Psynergy Enterprise Developments LLC, represented by Michael Weinstein, Jean Edwards and Arturo Uribe. Claiming top honours for the second successive year were Cindy McGown and Mark Davis for Royal Arabians, elevating them to exalted status alongside Al Jassimya Farm, Pegasus Arabians and Om El Arab International as the only programmes to be honoured multiple times.
The 2024 event gave everyone much to celebrate - more champions crowned than ever before, as well as sponsorship and attendance, both domestic and international, were at their most enthusiastic levels since before the pandemic. We look forward with great excitement to the 2025 the Arabian Breeders World Cup and the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup North American Championship when they will return with even more innovation and energy, ready to trailblaze ahead for the breed into the next quarter century and beyond.

Mayrit Arabians Stud is a very Young but promising stud that started breeding arabian horses in 2021, is located in Madrid capital of Spain.
It is a vision and pasion of two diferent generations, father and son. The love and pasión for the arabian horses brought them into this new exciting proyect.
In 2021 Mr. Luis Aguilar, bought the foundation Mares of the stud. Having in mind all the qualities that the foundation mares should have, they wanted to have an open breeding program with diferent genetic lines but all of them with the same target, combine all this diferent qualities to bring the truly arabian horse breed to Mayrit Arabians Stud.
Between the foundation mares we can find extraordinary pedigrees, having some of the best sires in our recent arabian horse history, like Ajman Moniscione, Frashera Masar, Shanghai EA, Makissa Adagio, Abha Qatar and Versus Magic who is tracing back to Vervaldee.
In 2022 Mayrit Arabians was blessed with three beautifull fillies, two of them from AJ Sanad and one of them by Makissa Adagio.
LAA Allegra is one of this beautiful fillies born at Mayrit , and truly representing the breed of Mayrit Arabians Stud. She is a daughter of AJ Sanad out of an Ajman Moniscione daughter DAA Bambolina, one of the foundation mares of Mayrit.
In 2023 a beautiful colt was born by AJ Nawash and out of a Makissa Adagio daughter DAA Athena another foundation mare of Mayrit, becoming into a very refine, elegant and typie yearling colt.
Finally this year many new foals are born bringing to reality the dreams of every arabian horse breeder and being in this case the definition of the breeding program of Mayrit Arabians Stud, an achivement very remarkable for a very Young stud.
Looking forward to see the new generations of arabian horses in Mayrit Arabians Stud and feeling blessed for those that already are the soul of the farm.
Inviting all of you to come to visit us in Madrid and to know more about our Breeding program, of course you Will be warmly welcome in our farm. q

Firstly, I would like to thank His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emirates Arabian Horse Society for his generous patronage and increasing the total prize money to 4000000 Euro. Also to thank Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society for his continuous supervision, along with HE Mohammad Alharbi and his fantastic organizing team which he has been managing for some years with great professionalism and competence, developing this event to be one of the most interesting and famous in the Arabian show world.
It was an honour and a privilege to attend the Abu Dhabi International Arabian Horse Championship first title show 2024 which was also chosen as the second stage of the Global Champions Arabians Tour.
The event was held in Abu Dhabi, specifically in the new location, the imposing Etihad Arena on Yas Island. This part of the UAE capital is famous for its great attractions and installations. The best known is certainly the F1 circuit where numerous races take place, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld and many tourist attractions. The arena does not need comment, it is one of the most beautiful in the region and with the addition of a VIP area set up on the three sides facing the ring first class facilities were provided. It took four days of show to allow the 19 invited judges to judge the 319 horses entered. As usual, the categories were divided so as not to exceed 20 contenders per class. For the championship judging the judges were drawn by lot. The draw itself was made by EAHS team who put on a show involving people from the audience. We must thank the many judges for their hard work, also the well assorted DC team: Mrs. Jackie Vandyke, Vet. Laura Mascagna, Vet. Mohammed Hammad, Mr. Salem Alkatheeri, Mr. Hamed Alharthi.
Two Ring Masters alternated in the Ring: Mrs. Lizette Svensson and Mr. Peter Hegemann.
I recommend you follow our Instagram channels for a broader view of the events: tuttoarabi_magazine and tuttoarabi_showsandevents.
I leave you with the unedited photos of the show taken by our photographers Sunnita Sassudelli and Simone Bergamaschi. q

It is a unique place where the tradition blends perfectly with modernity. A prosperous and modern state that retains the traditions of its Islamic culture and is commonly considered the Cultural Capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The city of Sharjah is home to many museums with splendid collections of artifacts and art as well as exhibits on science and natural history. The Emirate of Sharjah also host many cultural festivals, educational conferences, fairs and economic expositions.
Sharjah is also a birth place place of the first equestrian club in the United Arab Emirates - The Sharjah

This comprehensive equine establishment covers an area of 2.8 km2 and is home to the one of the largest indoor riding facilities in the Middle East. SERC has been at the forefront of encouraging equine sports in the United Arab Emirates and continuosly it hosts numerous equestrian events. One of the main goals in establishing the SERC is to showcase the highborn and elevated progeny of Arabian horses and to encourage the breeding of this noble horse to increase its pedigree.

ARABIAN HORSE Festival
to enjoy and to celebrate the 25th edition of the Sharjah International Arabian Horse Festival and it was a celebration indeed. The festival lasted four days. During the first three days we enjoyed the the beauty of arabian horses competing with each other and the fourth day rewarded us with the competition of senior stallions and with the championships where the best of the best horses of the show presented their beauty, quality and movement.
It all took place on the outdoor arena specially prepared for the event in the traditional and elegant arabian style. Just as in previous editions of the festival the organisers did their best to ensure that everyone felt welcome and that everything was prefectly prepared and going well. The weather was also very welcoming and sunny
and the atmosphere of the show was very enjoyable. The arena was very well prepared to handle the large amount of horses that entered the show ground and the horses did their best to show their unique qualities to the gathered audience. This ECAHO A Show was judged by the international panel of judges: Mrs. Claudia Darius (Germany), Mr. Eric Gear, Mr. Lucas Goździalski (Poland), Mr. Nashaat Hegazy (Egypt), Mr. Christian Moschini (Italy), Mr. Gideon Reisel (Netherlands), Mr. Tamas Rombauer (Hungary), Mrs. Martine Van Hee (Belgium) and Mrs. Michaela Weidner (Germany).
We really enjoyed this festival, the emotions and the atmosphere that it has to offer -you have to see it for yourself. q

EL KHEIR CUP | 1-2 MARCH
In the saga of the Libyan Arabian horse breeders, we witness a powerful story of passion, unwavering dedication, and resilience. Confronted by formidable political challenges, the Arabian horse breeders remain resolute in their commitment to safeguard and breathe new life into the prestigious heritage of the Libyan Arabian horse breed. After 14 years of relative silence, the re-emergence of the Libyan Arabian horse is a remarkable testament to the passion and determination of the Libyan breeders.
Guided by the leadership of Dr. Emadadin Alhatoushi, Chairman of the National Centre for the Arabian Horse
(NCAH) and the Libyan Arabian Horse Breeders Society (LAHBS), and supported by the experienced Dr. Mohamed Machmoum, a founding member and adviser of LAHBS/NCAH, along with Dr. Salah El Dine Al Mechri, Vice Director of NCAH, the concerted efforts of the entire LAHBS/NCAH staff have played a vital role in the genuine revival of Arabian horse activity, symbolizing a phoenix rising from the ashes.
The combined efforts of excellent leadership, advisement, and the broader breeder community have set the stage for a promising future, embodying the spirit of endurance and determination in the face of challenges. The narrative
paints a hopeful picture of the continued growth and success of the Libyan Arabian horse breeding field.
Despite the cancellation of the Ecaho National Championship in 2023 due to unforeseen circumstances, the subsequent year saw the construction of the splendid ‘National Centre for the Arabian Horse.’ During its official inauguration on March 1 and 2, finally, the Libyan National Championship took place, graced by the presence of the exceptional public, numerous dignitaries and ambassadors from the capital. Mr. Abdullah AlLafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya, symbolically cut the inaugural ribbon,
marking the fulfilment of the commitment to the new governance of NCAH/LAHBS. The event garnered international attention, with widespread coverage in the local press and media. The inaugural ceremony also witnessed the signing of significant international agreements, including one between the National Centre of Arabian Horse in Libya, the Libyan Racing Authority, and the Polish Jockey Club. This collaboration aims to foster knowledge-sharing and the comprehensive development of Arabian horse breeding.
Beyond the show event, a fascinating city tour was organized, featuring an exceptional visit to the National Museum under the guidance of Director Dr. Kamal Al Shtewi. The museum showcased an impressive collection of ancient artefacts, Greek statues, mosaics, and hundreds of coins dating back to 300 BC, providing a profound insight into the rich cultural and historical heritage of the country. Furthermore, Libya itself served as an open-air museum, adorned with obelisks and historical arches dating as far back as 500 BC.
All of us hope with all our hearts that soon we will also be able to visit the hinterland where the most important archaeological sites are located, such as Ghirza and its necropolis, Sobrata, the volcano Waw Namus with its lakes, and much more.
The National Championship took place over two days. Five judges were invited to judge the 75 horses entered:
Mrs Urszula Leczycka from Poland, Mr Basil Al Jadaan and Mr Mamdouh Ahmadia from Syria, our compatriot the Italian Mr Roberto Ceccaroni and Dr Vet. Said Wafae from Libya. The DCs Mr Abbaas El Hamri from Morocco assisted by Dr Tarek, Dr Rhuma, and Mr Harrous from Libya did an excellent job. The Ring Master Mr Said Khouya from Morocco, was assisted by Mr Frjag Alberrani from Libya also were able to contain the enthusiasm and impetus of horses and handlers. The scores were managed by Mrs Leila Hachalaf from Morocco and Mrs Samira Aldwigen from Libya,
and announced by the ringing voice of Jordanian Mr Abdallah Albarmaki.
There were 10 classes with four championships, Fillies, Mares, Colts and Stallions. A special prize was awarded to the only female handler/breeder so far in Lybia Mrs Sima Bubteina from Benghazi. The daughter of the late Othman Boubtaina is intimately familiar with this, as her esteemed father was a prominent breeder who played a substantial role in the resurgence of the Arabian horse in the country.
The collective effort put into the success of this event is truly remarkable and exciting, and I wholeheartedly support it. Now, enjoy the photos captured by Simone Bergamaschi, the official photographer for Tutto Arabi. Special thanks to Mr. Mahmood Dardoor, the centre’s photographer, and Mr. Nouri Friwan, who led the reception committee and consistently stayed with us, describing our surroundings and letting us experience the positive changes in life in Libya. A special thanks also goes out to the public for creating a great ambience. q

Do you dream of snow-capped mountain peaks and the frozen Lake St. Moritz at your feet? As the smallest and most intimate of St. Moritz’s major five-star hotels, the Carlton Hotel is an ideal base for exploring the abundant natural wonders of the Upper Engadin. After a day in nature, the hotel’s individually decorated rooms and suites – including the 386 m2 Carlton Penthouse Suite, the largest suite in St. Moritz – are your heaven and place of retreat. The expansive Carlton Spa is similarly inviting. Whether you’re relaxing on the panoramic terrace or cosying up in front of a crackling fire, authentic hospitality is what they do best. For refined cuisine in a cosy ambience, head to one of the three in-house restaurants: the light-flooded Bel Etage, the newly opened Grand Restaurant or the celebrated Restaurant Da Vittorio (2 Michelin stars and 18 Gault-Millau points). Guests of the Carlton also have the opportunity to partake in Moving Mountains, a holistic programme of holiday experiences aimed at boosting vitality, reconnecting with nature and celebrating the joy of life. Tutto Arabi visited this charming hotel and this is what we can tell about it before you decide to visit it in person. It is worth!
Carlton Hotel St. Moritz – a sanctuary in St. Moritz
Perched high above the lake, the Carlton Hotel is St. Moritz’s most refined hideaway.
Exclusivity and privacy are the components of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, which is open for the winter season from the beginning of December to the end of March. The luxurious five-star hotel beguiles all the senses with a southern exposure and a view of Lake St. Moritz in all 60 rooms and suites, culinary delights of the highest standard and a spaciousness that is second to none. The rooms and suites, furnished with the finest materials by Swiss interior designer Carlo Rampazzi, offer the highest level of comfort. Top-class dining culture is celebrated authentically and informally in the two restaurants the Grand Restaurant and Da Vittorio - St. Moritz. For a light lunch at noon or afternoon tea, the spacious sun terrace - probably the most beautiful in the entire resort - is the perfect address. In addition, the 1,200 m2 Carlton Spa offers numerous retreats to relax and take a deep breath.
The Building
Built in 1913, the Carlton Hotel is characterized by a historic character worthy of preservation. With the total renovation in 2007, which took over the outer silhouette identically, the historical values are visible, interpreted in a contemporary way and implemented in a modern way. The Carlton Hotel is constantly evolving. In 2022/2023 the rooms and suites on the first and fifth floors have been given a new look and welcoming guests in a fresh, brighter tone. This time, it’s the turn of our sixth and seventh floors to be unveiled in new splendor. The Carlton Spa had seen some changes and is now welcoming guests with a holistic spa concept. In the Kids Club, Schellen-Ursli, a Swiss childhood hero, is making an appearance. The Bel Etage, meanwhile, offers the ultimate in sporty chic: the ideal meeting place for relaxed winter days.
The rooms and suites
The 60 spacious rooms and suites of the five-star hotel start from a size of 45 m and offer, in addition to the extraordinary variety of colors, the highest comfort as well as the most modern technology. All are southfacing with views of Lake St. Moritz and have balconies or terraces that provide a heavenly box seat for numerous top local events, such as the Polo World Cup on Snow or the world-famous White Turf. The Carlton Penthouse, the largest suite in St. Moritz, covers the entire eighth floor with 386 m2. Three spacious bedrooms with individual bathrooms, an open-plan living and dining area with fireplace, a kitchen and five terraces offer 360-degree panoramic views of Lake St. Moritz and the surrounding mountains. The public areas of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, such as the lobby area with two historic fireplaces on the Bel Etage, are also generously designed and offer guests very different places to relax and enjoy. Above the main entrance of the hotel is a large sun terrace, which can be reached from the bar and lobby and from which the St. Moritz mountain and lake panorama can be enjoyed to the full.
Culinary delights
The opening of the new Grand Restaurant marks the start of this year’s winter season at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz. After a number of years away from the Engadin, the opening also marks the return of Executive Chef Salvatore Frequente, who brings with him a dining concept with a difference. With unobstructed views of the Engadin mountains and Lake St. Moritz, the restaurant’s newly developed menu gives pride of place not only local produce but to wild products from the surrounding forests. Both the look and flavour of the dishes are inspired and enhanced by these gifts of the outdoors, which are picked and collected seasonally before being expertly prepared. The ingredients embody an authentic connection to the region we love so much. Since more than ten years the gourmet restaurant Da Vittorio St. Moritz is part of the Carlton Hotel during winter. The restaurant, under the management of brothers Enrico and Roberto Cerea, is famous for its Italian cuisine, which has been awarded two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points. In the Carlton Bar - the heart of the house and according to Forbes Travel Guide one of the 44 best hotel bars - and invites with the large sun terrace and a panoramic view of St. Moritz and the lake to sweet idleness. On the Bel Etage, the famous Carlton Afternoon Tea tastes best by the warm fireplace and with live music. Another highlight at the Carlton are the fondue gondolas. Right in front of the hotel, in the middle of the snow, there are two cozy gondolas where you can enjoy typical Swiss cheese fondue.
The Carlton Spa
The hotel’s spa area extends over 1,200 m2 and three floors and has six different treatment rooms where guests can enjoy a variety of massages and cosmetic treatments with a view of the fancy ceiling paintings. A 35 m2 spa suite with its own whirlpool, sauna, Dornbracht-Rainsky shower with light therapy as well as TV, DVD player and hi-fi system offers wellness in private for several hours or even for an entire day. On the lowest floor, guests will find the spacious sauna world with steam bath, caldarium, Finnish sauna and a private sauna for ladies. For cooling down after a relaxing sauna session, various experience showers, an ice fountain and a Kneipp path in the snow are available. In addition to the latest fitness equipment, the house also offers a spacious swimming and sports pool that motivates physical fitness and, as a highlight, the indoor and outdoor relaxation pool, which provides relaxation in accordance with the temperature.

For the love of the environment | Green Globe Certification
Since 2019, the Tschuggen Collection and thus also the Carlton Hotel have been operated in a completely climate-neutral manner. With the Green Globe certification, which hotel received for the first time in 2022, they have gone one step further, making them one of the most sustainable premium hotel groups in Switzerland. The certification reflects that their daily commitment to the most sustainable hotel operation possible is worthwhile. It motivates every day anew to do our part to protect the environment. Thus, they use 100% green energy, offset all our CO2 emissions, use eco-certified products whenever possible and are moving towards a plastic-free hotel. Furthermore, they support not only local and national projects for the protection of nature, but also for the preservation of cultural and historical treasures.
One of the most interesting things about this hotel is the attention paid to take responsibility for impact and to work to raise awareness.
“The Tschuggen Collection which includes Carlton Hotel St. Moritz the first Swiss premium hotel group to bring effective climate protection measures and exceptional standards of hotel management under one roof. Our prized locations amidst spectacular natural beauty serve as a daily reminder of our firmly-held belief: that protecting the environment is the most important challenge of our time. Accordingly, when the Valsana Hotel Arosa was constructed in 2017, environmental sustainability was at the forefront. One of Switzerland’s most sustainable hotels, the Valsana boasts a completely CO2-neutral building infrastructure that is heated and operated entirely without fossil (or other) fuels thanks to an ice storage system based on geothermal energy and heat recovery at 1,800 metres. In 2019, the Tschuggen Collection became the first premium hotel group in Switzerland to account for its entire CO2 footprint; today, it finances environmental and conservation projects with carbon benefits in excess of the calculated emissions. The Tschuggen Collection bears 100% of the costs for this. All four of the Collection’s hotels are certified by the globally recognised Green Globe standard, a quality seal awarded to tourism and events companies whose activities prioritise the respectful and economical use of resources.
The hotels endeavour to minimise CO2 emissions through sustainable construction, intelligent resource management, in-house green teams, an annual CO2 audit by the myClimate foundation, and close ties with local producers. Any unavoidable residual emissions are offset by the Tschuggen Collection’s support for sustainable international climate action projects and rewilding projects across Switzerland.
The first of these projects have already come to fruition. Rewilding work is now complete on two key Swiss locations: a raised bog of national significance in the Tourbières de Ponts-de-Martel nature reserve (canton of Neuchâtel) and the Bos-Cha lowland moor near Guarda in the Lower Engadin. A further project in the Lower Engadin, the Palü Lunga lowland moor, is entering its initial stages in collaboration with local foundation Pro Terra Engiadina.
By offsetting residual emissions through investments in climate action projects at home and abroad, the Tschuggen Collection takes responsibility for parts of its ecological footprint that have not yet been permanently removed. Importantly, the Collection does not see this approach as a long-term solution but rather as an inevitable and effective part of the road to get there. It enables us to face up to our responsibility in the immediate term and avoid delaying action until ‘perfect’ solutions become available.
While we are delighted to support these projects, our main focus is and remains the ongoing minimisation of our own emissions. Through constant action, the Tschuggen Collection has reduced more than 60% of its CO2 emissions over the last ten years. Going forward, the Collection will optimise its building infrastructures in such a way that fossil fuels can be almost entirely phased out by 2025. In future, the heating and cooling of the Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona will be controlled using lake and groundwater, while the renewable electricity we currently purchase will increasingly be supplemented by energy from the hotel’s own photovoltaic systems. Steps to further reduce emissions include the retrofitting of thermal insulation in accordance with the latest
standards, heat recovery for both exhaust air and waste water, and stronger adoption of a circular economy approach for renovation work and purchasing.
Over in our bars and restaurants, the menus we serve are thoughtfully designed so as to further reduce our ecological footprint. Among other things, all of the Collection’s restaurants now offer 100% plant-based menus alongside our carefully sourced meat, fish and dairy dishes. All of the personal care products in our guest rooms are Swiss origin products with 100% organic or certified natural ingredients, as are the products used to deliver treatments in our spas.
Of course, the Tschuggen Collection is also addressing indirect emissions within its value chain. We seek to continuously increase the sustainability of our purchasing through responsibly produced products with minimised packaging and short transport routes – with benefits for guests and nature alike. Sustainable, local or organic producers are prioritised, cleaning products are naturally degradable and eco-certified, and all of our printed material uses 100% recycled paper bleached without chlorine.
Strategic measures are similarly established for the management of waste, including food waste. Strict waste separation and rigorous recycling of all materials is ensured across all our hotels. Kitchen waste is distributed to producers of biogas fuels, and we work with specialist consultants to continuously minimise waste volumes through analysis and optimisation measures.
Last but not least, the Tschuggen Collection strives to constantly challenge the status quo, seek fresh solutions and raise awareness among guests of these vital issues.
In this spirit, we offer guests the opportunity to make their own contribution to climate action. Thanks to the myclimate foundation’s ‘Cause We Care’ initiative, guests can conveniently offset the carbon footprint caused by their travel to and from the hotels. 100% of the carbon offset contribution goes towards environmental protection projects by the myclimate foundation”.

SCOTTSDALE ARABIAN HORSE SHOW 2024
“ On behalf of the AAHA Board of Directors, I would like to thank all of our sponsors, patrons, judges, exhibitors, and volunteers for making this years show a huge success. The quality of the horses was incredible with many classes full of past national champions and perhaps future national champions. The show is called the Greatest Horse Show on Earth and this year, it truly was!” ~ Paul Glans, AAHA President
The 2024 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show marks the 69th anniversary of the event known as “The Greatest Horse Show On Earth”. With over 1500 horses competing in seven arenas in halter and numerous performance disciplines, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is the largest in the world. However, it isn’t just the number of horses competing that make this the greatest show on earth, it’s everything comes with world-class Arabians. This show is truly an international event with horses, breeders, and owners from around the globe attending. Scottsdale has long been considered the center of Arabian horse breeding and showing in the United States with some of the largest and most influential breeders as well as some of the most beautiful farms calling this city home and they are proud to welcome their equine guests to this amazing desert oasis.
The following pages showcase the champions of the primary purebred halter and breeding classes, including the Scottsdale Classic classes, the International Arabian Breeders classes, and the Straight Egyptian and Egyptian Heritage classes. The Scottsdale Classic classes were judged by two panels. Judging Mares, Fillies, Geldings, and the SSS classes were Mike Beethe, Bruce McCrea, and John Rannenberg. Judging Stallions as well as SSS classes were Donnie Bullock, Brian Ferguson, and Jeremy Harper. The international classes again welcomed guest judges who joined three American judges. The panel included Steve Dady, Van Jacobsen, John Ryan, Giacomo Capacci, and Robbie Den Hartog. The quality of every show is greatly affected by the quality of the judging and we thank these gentlemen for contributing their expertise and professionalism while at the Scottsdale show.
Every year, we welcome hundreds of thousands of people to the show, those participating with the show, as well as the general public. Yet there are thousands who only wish they could attend. For them, we provide the always popular live feed. This year, we had the honor of welcoming a new sponsor, the Global Champions Arabians Tour, who very generously covered the live feed, making this service available to viewers around the world. We thank them and all of our wonderful sponsors who support the show though their important contributions.
We hope you enjoy this showcase of magnificent Arabian horses from the 2024 Scottsdale show. Plan now to attend next year, the dates are already set. Join us February 13-23, 2025. “ It was a great year to judge the halter division with the most amazing weather we’ve had in years! We had many beautiful classes in the female group. Our Junior classes were outstanding. Our 2-year-old filly went on to be unanimous Junior Champion and was my favorite of the show. Our Senior mares were wonderful with an amazing front line in the championship.
