On the fourth day, Muhammed ordered the mares to be released, to which they galloped across the banks to reach the fresh, glittering water below them.
Fromabove.
Madeah gave these mares his blessing and decided these mares from now onwards were the only mares dedicated to breeding. They were known collectively as “Khamsa al-Rasul Allah” - The five of the prophet of Allah. They were then named individually as: wi, AlthoughKuhaylan, multiple
these strains, each Bedioun family would breed purely, which was valued widely amongst their community, with many families only owning one strain. For centuries, Bedouins would record the ancestry of each horse verbally. The first written and specific “Arabian” pedigree produced in the Middle East dates to 1330 AD. Horses of the purest blood were known as Asil. They valued mares most of all, as they would often out-produce themselves, as well as being the chosen steed for battle as they were silent when sneaking up to an enemy Crossbreedingcamp.of
the strains was discouraged, but not forbidden by some Bedioun tribes. Substrains began to develop in each main strain which were often named after celebrated mares or Sheikhs, but each development could be easily identified to the strain of which they belonged, such as the Saqlawi Jidran.

The arabian horse was a fundamental way of life to the Bedouin desert tribes and an imperative part of day to day life and family living.
The traditional tale states:
“One morning, Muhammed the Prophet of Allah established his camp on the banks of a flowing river, that gushed continuously as a saving grace in the desert. With him travelled hundreds of beautiful arabian mares who had transported Muhammed, his people and his belongings miles to base.
different strains and various versions of this tale exist, we will focus on this tale and the strains
The five blessed mares…
At this moment, Prophet Muhammed blew his trumpet, which was an order to return to him and a test of loyalty. There were only 5 mares that separated themselves from the herd and returned to their master before being able to quench their thirst.

Another Bedouin legend which is told from generation to generation is the tale of the five main family strains.
By inspiration of Allah, Muhammed decided to keep the mares in corral and not give them any water for three days and three nights - a cruel act, in preparation for an interesting test.
Throughout time, there have been multiple Bedouin le gends that tell tales of the noble arabian steed.

and the ideal combination of arabian traits.
The Hamdani strain was considered to be the most athletic, with larger bones and more show of masculi nity than the Seqlawi and the Abbayan. Their profile was usually straighter, and they were one of the largest strains. They were usually grey or bay and stood up to 15.2hh.
The Seqlawi strain was popular for refinement and femininity. They were fast, which although shrouded with beauty did not dampen their endurance ability. They had fine bones, with longer necks and faces. They were most commonly bay and stood up to 14.2hh, with high spirits and natural showmanship.
The Abbayan strain, when standing next to the Seqlawi, was very similar in type. They were also refined, but had a longer back and were much shorter than their counter parts. They were usually grey. The Bedioun tale behind the name is that during a raid, a Bedioun threw off his ‘beyyah’ - cloak - to lighten the mare’s load as she ran. When he looked back to check the distance between himself and the enemy, he found his beyyah had been hooked onto the high tail carriage of the mare.
The combination of the Kuhaylan and the Seqlawi strains are considered to some to be the “golden cross”
original stain.

The Hadban strain echoed similarities between the Hamdani. Hadban also consisted of big bones and a masculine build. They were known for their gentle natures, and were smaller than the Hamdani. They made good all-round horses who held great endurance and strength. They were usually bay, with few markings and stood up to 14.3hh.
A traditional Bedouin concept is to explain the workings of arabian strains using a “rasan” or “rope”. It is founded on wrapping the first two strands of the rope which represents the sire and dam, with the strain name given to the original dam. Each strand is then wound together which produces the weaving of the rope.

“Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”
Sometimes in life you just feel you must, with no explanations for why, do something. This happened with Bahar El Lawrence. We had such an explosion of emotions and happiness after welcoming Batistah to our family, and again when her daughter, Soleada Le Soleil, arrived, that when we saw Bahar, out of Batistah and by the magnificent Lawrence El Gazal ... we couldn’t let her go.

THE NationalBrazilian2022 Arabian Horse Show SHOWS AND EVENTS 56 | TUTTO ARABI - www.tuttoarabi.com
Overall, the total sale’s revenue generated during all the above events reached an unprecedented amount of over 10 million reais with horses sold to Brazil, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and the USA.
A memorable show indeed with many champions coming back to secure their titles, runner ups aiming for the gold and some exciting newcomers willing to fight for their spot in the sun. A fierce competition surrounded by a lot of fun and camaraderie: that is the overall vibe that year after year the Brazilian National Show brings to its exhibitors and spectators.
In the meantime, in the indoor arena, the Brazil Cup and then the Brazilian National Show took place, once again dazzling the audience with the great quality level of the horses shown.
This year the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association had the big challenge of bringing the show back to the month of July, hence having only six months instead of a whole year to organize what is arguably the biggest Arabian horse show in Latin America. It proved to be a wise decision, since the event received a record number of approximately 5000 visitors, not only domestic but also from all over the world, not to mention over 35.000 accesses to the live broadcast of the show.
T
he 2022 edition of the Brazilian National Show, held in the beautiful facilities of Helvetia Riding Center, from the 6th to the 12th of July, was once again a great success. The six-day event included the halter and performance classes from both the Brazil Cup and the National Show, as well as the ridden classes from the ANCAF (National Arabian Horse Association for the Functional Horse) circuit and the beautiful Welcome Dinner awarding the best of 2020 and 2021.
SHOWS AND EVENTS www.tuttoarabi.com - TUTTO ARABI | 57
Throughout the week of the National Show, many other related events enriched the schedule. The Functional Arabian Horse National Association (ANCAF) jointly with ABCCA National hosted once again the championship finals for their classes in barrel racing and base in the outside arena.
With an eye for fostering the youth within this great community, the ABCCA through its Promotions Vice President Cristiane Guardia created the ABCCA Kids program. This year an innovation was presented where the kids were invited to the center ring to experience the job of judging in halter. A great idea that is sure to be repeated in future venues.
The traditional Brazilian Farm Tours (this year’s hosts were Haras Vila dos Pinheiros and Haras Cruzeiro) and the Special Presentation (a showcase open to all breeders to offer breedings, embryos and horses from their programs) were held on the three days following the show.
The endurance and the racing were also very present with races taking place in both São Paulo’s Cidade Jardim racetrack and in Indaiatuba, closing a successful calendar year full of amazing events.
To judge the Brazilian National show this year, a very diverse and internationally accomplished panel of judges was invited, namely:
Paul Kostial (USA)
Reinaldo da Rocha Leão (BRAZIL)
T
he Brazilian Nationals is arguably one of the few shows in the world to constantly display a very broad group of judges from all over the planet, meaning that if a horse eventually accomplishes at this show a unanimous win, or at least a win in the majority of the judge’s cards, odds are that he or she is going to win big anywhere else.
Marek Trela (POLAND)
To watch the younger halter divisions at Nationals is always an amazing learning experience for it is the moment where the breeding trends in Brazil get evidenced through the mostly chosen stallions in absolute numbers of descendants as well as with most wins at the show thorough their presented offspring. Sires like Dominic M, Bandit SRA, HDF Lugano, Quasim CRH, Ragnar Rach and Vivaldi al Shawan, among others, marked a strong presence in that sense.
Brian Ferguson (USA)
Claudia Darius (GERMANY)
It is also the moment to witness the debut presentation of some exciting upcoming sires get, such as last year’s National Young Champion Stallion EKS Farouk (by Ibn Farid), the reigning National Young Stallion Champion TM Itaipu (by *El Tino), as well as Jytan Meia Lua (by El JahezWH), Kaburr el Karim JQ (by Karim el Power), Cash del Tino JM( by El Tino), HTS Domenico (by Dominic M), Talaal Serondella (by Shiraz de Lafon) and Pharaoah HBV(by Psyche HBV), among others.

Gold Young Colt - Polarhis HVP
The Gold Young Champion Filly in 2022 was the beautiful Melody by Vivaldi (Vivaldi al Shawan x HAH Sweet Ventura by HK Keav Power) bred and owned by Humberto Florezi, yet another proof of her sire and maternal grandsire’s prepotency as champion producers, both bred by Cesar Schmidt by Haras Katu. Interestingly her full sister HK Sweet La Vita bred by Haras Katu and Haras Al Hosçan and exported to Anvil Arabians in the U.S.A was the winner the same age group class at the National Show in 2021. The Silver Champion Filly La Belle de Jour HBV (Pharaoh HBV x Prada HBV by Sir Famess HBV) was bred and owned by Luciano Cury of Haras Boa Vista. Luciano was also the breeder of the famous stallion Sir Famess HBV the grandsire of this filly. Pharaoh HBV, her sire, is quickly being recognized as one of the present top upcoming stallions having sired both Silver Champion Filly and Colt not to mention the recent Silver Filly Champion at the Elran Cup in Europe, as well as other additional winning

get. His sire Psyche HBV, also bred by Haras Boa Vista is by the great Padrons Psyche out of the famous black Bey Shah daughter NV Cocoa, hence a full brother to the international Champion Psyches Illusion HBV. His mother is the ethereal Brazilian National Champion Mare RFI Sophie el Maktub. The Bronze champion filly title went to Zahra di Azraff JM, by U.S. and Argentinean National Champion SM Azraff and MC Vitoria by Vitorio TO. She was bred and owned by Jose Alves Filho of Haras JM.
The Young Colt Championship was the only one to earn a unanimous win. Rightfully so the impressive Polahris HVP reigned supreme at this year’s Nationals confirming his great quality, already witnessed in 2021 when he won the Platinum Cup and highest point horse at the prestigious Brazilian Breeders’ Cup Show. He is by U.S. National Champion Polidoro FC out of the beautiful Hariry al Shaqab daughter Chaaris RBV. He is bred and owned by Haras Vila dos Pinheiros who is grooming him to become their future herd sire. Quite a task for any horse since they also bred such notables stallions as Magnum Chall HVP, Vulcano HVP, Menton HVP and Laman HVP. Winning the Silver was another beautiful son of the above-mentioned Pharaoh HBV, Kidark HBV (x Seduction HBV by Power World JQ). Also from Vila dos Pinheiros was Lughan HVP (HDF Lugano x Princess Marwan HVP by Marwan al Shaqab) the winner of the Bronze title.
Silver Jr Colt - Royal Dominion
Once again Dominic M made a strong presence in the Filly Championship. All the way from Chile, where she was named Reserve Champion Mare, Lonco Dalilah (x Stig Zaphyra by El Tino), bred and owned by Ricardo Duch’s Haras Lonco, came to win the Gold in Brazil. In the Silver spot was the Silver beauty Sapphire RB (Emerald Jx Symphony RB by Sirajj UB) bred by Haras das Cascatas

and owned by Luciano Cury of Haras Boa Vista, Royal Arabians and Desert Sky Arabians, a filly that earned top glories in the previous big wins including the Brazilian Breeders’ Cup and the Nationals. Wrapping up Dominic’s incredible results was his daughter Hermione 7F (x Beatrix ZR by Salieri K).
Silver Colt - Unno Serondella
whose mother Only Serondella was last year National Silver Champion Senior Mare and also the mother of five winners at the same show. The impressive dark bay colt RFI Petrus HPA (Quasim CRH x Evening Star TGS by Lumiar Amadeus), bred and owned in partnership between RFI Arabians from the Forte Family and Marcos Quintella of Haras Panorama was the winner of the Bronze title. He is a three quarter brother of National Champion Mare Lumiar Ethna, and like her he inherited the beautiful dark color from their grandmother Promise V the beautiful Brazilian National Champion Mare and daughter of the legendary Huckleberry Bey V in the dam line and from RSD Dark Victory in the sire line.
Bronze Colt - RFI Petrus HPA
The typey bay colt Rhayn el Kaburr JQ (Kaburr el Karim JQ x Ryhana el Shawan JQ), a fourth generation of Haras dos Faveiros breeding brought the Gold to his proud owners Dr. Jairo Queiroz Jorge and his son Iran Jorge. Claiming the Silver was the beautiful son of El Jahez WH, Unno Serondella, bred and owned by Haras Serondella,

Dr Jairo Queiroz Jorge
Haras dos Faveiros also have the rare distinction of creating and keeping a sire line for four generations within its breeding program, a rare branch of Kuhailan Haifi line, which is very scarce in most countries in the present time.
From Karim came Kaburr el Karim JQ (x Dhevla ATA by TS Don Brave) who despite a very young age has already shown his amazing quality as a sire at this year’s Nationals through his son Rhyan el Kaburr JQ who was recently named National Champion Colt. A special mention to another important son of Power World JQ is also due.
Though bred not by Dr. Jairo but by his longtime friend Cesar Schmidt, HK Keav Power (x HK La Rosa Laswan) though deceased at a very young age, has become one of Brazil’s most important sires, with many National Champion get to his credit. According to Cesar the breeding that allowed Kiev to exist, was a gift given from Dr. Jairo to him, yet another testimony of his kindness and friendship to so many. A full sister to Kiev is the beautiful and accomplished HK La Fiesta Power, a multi national winner and the mother of the Brazilian National Champion and top sire Vivaldi el Shawan, both also bred by Cesar Schmidt of Haras Katu.
Another important chapter on Dr Jairo’s history was the purchase and the creation of the FA El Shawan partnership, a stallion that became one of the horses with most National wins in Brazil and the sire of some of the most important sires of our times, including FA El TheRasheem.legacyof

The Levantine Arabian Racing Club (LARC) has presented its new concept in Beirut. Mr. Diaa Karaali, director of Al Dawla stud is the organizer. He comes from Lebanon, but has spent many years in Australia, to come back home now with a part of his Arabian horses. His center of attraction is the hippodrome in Beirut, which urgently needs support and new racehorses in training. Their concept of a new racing club, Levantine Arabian Racing Club (LARC), which aims to promote the integration of WAHO registered racehorses at the track, is interesting and could be successful. At the WAHO Conference from October 8-14 in Aman, Jordan, Mr. Diaa Karaali will present his concept. (Savier)
The Levantine Arabian Racing Club and the Beirut Hippodrome
design www.tuttoarabi.com - TUTTO ARABI | 113
Like its predecessor, The Levantine Arabian Racing Club, is being proposed in order to deal with the concern over the disappearance of a specific type of Arabian horse; namely a good, sound, versatile horse that is registered as an Arabian and recognisable as one; yet not just the modern show horse, nor the ‘superfast’ selectively bred racehorse.
By being influenced by the Polish and Russian traditions of using racing as part of the selection process for breeding, LARC, in our assessment, would help the Beirut race track recover and lead on two fronts: It would help maintain a certain style and stamp of horse that has been historically known in the Levant, i.e. the Eastern Mediterranean region of Western Asia, especially in the greater Syrian desert and along the northern and eastern Lebanese hinterland and in the more arable valleys of the eastern and western banks of the Jordan River. Another reason LARC would be appealing locally, i.e. in the Levant, as well as in such countries as Australia and Brazil is that in those countries and regions racing is considered as a potential market for the Arabian that they are currently breeding, many of which eventually go into endurance; racing can bring added value if the horse has had a sound successful racing career.
Map of Beirut with Hippodrome during the war (1975-1990).
SPECIAL 114 | TUTTO ARABI - www.tuttoarabi.com
While we don’t discourage the modern Arabian endeavour of breeding for exotic beauty and speed, we are, how ever, concerned with preserving as wide a gene pool as possible, which means caring about and making a place for the old and traditional lines which are disappearing or being disproportionally mixed with imported bloodlines through the use of shipped and frozen semen.
The Levantine Arabian Racing Club (LARC) at the Beirut Hippodrome is being closely modelled on the former Heritage Arabian Racing Club (HARC), which was formed at the instigation of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2015.
The racecourse in Beirut during the fifties.
INTRODUCTION
Unfortunately, as it is noticed worldwide, as soon as the ‘superfast’ horses are imported they tend to dominate the racing and destroy the local market and in the end the racing starts to die as local breeders who want to stay in the business of racing a certain type of Arabian give up. This is painfully obvious in such countries as the USA and the UK where despite high quality racing and greatly improved prize money, the numbers of Arabian horses racing continue to decline.
The first racetrack in Lebanon was built in Tyr by the Romans.

SPECIAL www.tuttoarabi.com - TUTTO ARABI | 115
SPECIAL 116 | TUTTO ARABI - www.tuttoarabi.com
The criteria for inclusion as a LARC horse is one of the most difficult matters and contrarian to some of those coming from a strictly racing background where only speed matters, but we hope that they would accept that what we are attempting to do is for the long term good of the Arabian horse that we are passionate about. We would ask them to respect our criteria just as we respect those for whom speed is paramount. We fully accept the WAHO definition, and we are aware that talk of the issue of purity in the Arabian still affects racing at the highest levels, however this is something LARC is not determined or even qualified to enter into.
Our LARC definition, like that of HARC, was developed because the study of race times and observation over a cen tury and half of average race times for given distances remained more or less constant whether in the USA, Russia, Poland, Egypt or even going back to India in 19th century. However, over the last 30 years or so, these times have been routinely broken not by few seconds but 7, 8 and even up to 10 seconds by the highly successful descendants of selectively bred stallions and mares. Excessive speed, especially without any attention to certain basic breeding characteristics goes against the philosophy of LARC, and therefore the lines of these ‘superfast’ horses where the greatly increased speeds were or are consistently produced through a horse’s descendants are excluded. We reserve the right to add further horses should we feel it is necessary. No mares have so far been specifically excluded because when we looked at a number of exceptionally fast mares it appears that their descendants are excluded through the stallions they have been bred to. Finally, I would like to point out that our ‘selective’ idea of exclusion is not new, I give the example of Egypt in the early parts of the last century where the selection of Arabians for racing was based on height and tail carriage.
LARC is today in the initial stage of inviting WAHO breeders and horse owners registered in Lebanon, as a first step, in order to formulate a Proposal that closely follows the following mission statement (modelled on HARC): "The aim of LARC is to help ensure, through racing, the long-term future of the purebred Arabian horse, where original, classic characteristics, in the broadest terms, are valued along with the breed hallmarks of athletic ability, soundness and versatility.”
Membership and contribution into LARC will soon be welcomed from all countries which are interested in supporting this Lebanese initiative and where we would ask that each country be represented through two nominated delegates, one from its recognised racing organisation and one from amongst the breeders or owners.

“In order to preserve the classic characteristics of the purebred Arabian horse, it has been agreed that a Levantine Arabian Racing Club (LARC) racehorse is any purebred Arabian registered in any WAHO accepted studbook but it must not contain the blood of the following stallions in any generation of its pedigree; the excluded stallions are (1) AMER, (2) BAROUD III, (3) BURNING SAND, (4) DRAGON, (5) ST LAURENT and (6) TIWAIQ.”
LARC also reserves the right to add other horses if considered necessary after formal approval by the Club commit tee. I trust from all that has been said above that it can be understood that the LARC definition has no bearing on WAHO. As far as IFAHR (The International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities) is concerned we like to think that in due course we can come under that umbrella, offering another layer to the IFAHR racing fabric. The LARC races maybe a little slower but there is no reason why they should be any less professional than any other type of racing.
Most Arabian breeding societies promote the Arabian as a versatile horse, and they encourage individuals to try all equestrian sports. If you take dressage or show jumping for example, no one expects an Arabian to be a world champion, but it does not mean owners should not be able to enjoy taking part in those sports within their own group. The Arabian is not the fastest horse in the world so our belief is that Arabian racing should be available at many levels to suit the variety within the breed and in different parts of the world.
The Levantine Arabian Racing Club plans to support such racing at the Beirut Hippodrome and to protect it from adverse competition from outside its racehorse definition. LARC also intends to be an international forum for like-minded breeders and horse owners from the Middle East and North Africa, Europe, the Americas, Australia and beyond who would be encouraged to send their WAHO Arabians to Beirut for race training. We hope that we are not too late to revive interest in those countries, such as Lebanon, where Arabian racing is in decline and that we can bring back serious breeders of all types of Arabian horses.
In recent years, in addition to the races, the Hippodrome also hosted Arabian Horse Shows.

In recent history, there have been various political and financial decisions made in Lebanon that have led to the mixing of the Arabian lines with particular lines that WAHO does not recognise as purebred Arabians.
AL DAWLA ARABIANS
Horse racing results at Poland’s state stud, which are recorded on the show horse pedigrees are restricted to the specific lines that are bred by the stud and that do not include any of the ‘superfast’ WAHO stallions that are used outside their stud farms. Such a program has been very successful and it has functioned coherently with their shows, their racetrack and with their endurance competitions, not to overlook the show jumping capabilities of these same horse lines
Geographically and historically, however, Lebanon is situated as a perfect place for East-West linking to take place, and what more than the Beirut Hippodrome can one aspire to use as a starting point for Lebanon to regain its influential posi tion as an international leader in the domain of Arabian horse events for both Europe and the Gulf countries.
In early 2022, more than 20 mares and several young colts made the long trek from Sydney Australia to Beirut in Lebanon without any incidents, and they are now all happy and settling into their new environment at the newly purpose built mega stud in the ancient village of Kfar Qahel in North Lebanon along the pristine banks of the Qadisha River. Amongst the pedigree lines of the transported Arabians are Egyptian, Polish, Spanish and those Crabbet lines that initially came to Australia from Al Sham via the United Kingdom, the founding country of WAHO. We want to share these special lines with the world from Beirut Lebanon.
The Beirut Hippodrome initiative would be an excellent opportunity for breeders from all over the world who want to support the Arabian horse and the Beirut racetrack. This can help increase the international attractiveness of the WAHO horse. In recent years, ECAHO shows for WAHO registered horses have also been held at the Beirut Hippo Fordrome.us, the ideal Arabian horse remains one that can do both, win a race and perform successfully in a show class - similar to what the Janov Podlaski State Stud does in Poland.
With this major relocation of our best Arabians to Lebanon, we believe that today we represent the cream lines of the Australian and British breeding programs over the last 100 years.”
*We welcome enquiries and comments through info@aldawla.com
We feel that an emotional and a practical enlightenment has driven us to connect with the wider world out of Australia, whereby the Arabian horse can lead us on a historical journey that can give hope to future generations of horse lovers in both Australia and Lebanon. Being close to the international horse shows in Europe and the Middle East and seeing the high demand for the WAHO horse abroad has definitely been an added encouragement with our mega task.

AL DAWLA ARABIANS: FROM AUSTRALIA TO LEBANON
Diaa Karaali, Director*, Al Dawla Arabians (Lebanon)
“Organising horseracing in Lebanon for WAHO registered horses has been an organic growth to our story with the Arabian horse. We have dedicated, with the assistance of SPARCA, at least thirty boxes in the Beirut Hippodrome to launch an important and valuable project at the Beirut racetrack.
Lebanon was once part of Al Sham or Greater Syria, and it had the finest purebred Arabians that were exported by Lady Ann to Crabbet Park in the United Kingdom. During the mid-1900’s purebred Arabian horses were bred particularly for racing in the Beirut Racetrack but ironically enough these lines are today not recognised by WAHO and therefore valueless to the outside world.
In the 60s, so many horses were sent to run in the Hippodrome of Beirut twice a week, with up to 20 horses taking part at each race. Then the civil war came (from 1975-1990), which changed the scene in Middle East dramatically, and throw the Hippodrome of Beirut to a dark time ended with a big crisis. But Beirut did not give up.
Probably it is not widely known that the historical relationship between horse breeding and Lebanon goes back thousands of years.
Horse breeding reached Lebanon through the Greeks, who were already masters of chivalry centuries before Christ. Moreover, Lebanon has the first hippodrome in Middle East which was built during the Roman Empire era, ca. 2000 years ago, in Tyre city, south of Lebanon, and it is the only one of its kind preserved and considered today as a UNESCO World Heritage.
Today, after many more existential crises and wars, the Hippodrome is trying to resume its operations in order to give horses and staff a chance to survive and to preserve this historic place for culture and horse lovers, not only from Beirut but from all over the world. (Savier)
In 1916, during the time of Ottoman occupation in Lebanon, the present racecourse was built in the Beirut Park right in the central city’s district. Forty years later, the Hippodrome of Beirut considered one of the most presti gious and busiest racetracks in the world. The racing days were considered as an international occasion that gathers business and entertainment.

The connection between Lebanon and its famous racetrack in Beirut and Australia, is already older than 100 years. As early as 1918, Australian soldiers in Beirut bet on the horses of the racecourse and took part in the social life of the Parc du Beyrouth. Today, Australia again plays a role in supporting the racecourse in BelowBeirut.are three events held at the Beirut Hippodrome between 1918 and 1941, and which have been photographed by Australian camera lenses.

22 November 1941 The Beirut Hippodrome grandstand was filled with crowds including Australian, English, French and Indian troops, as well as, local civilians who attended the Allied gymkhana and race meeting; lightheartedly dubbed the “Melbourne Cup". The event was held in aid of British and French hospitals. Horses were paraded first and then held in the saddling paddock before the each race. There were no bookmakers. All bets were on the totalisator, where the total amount of registered bets were divided among those who won. Instead of backing one particular horse bettors backed an owner. If an owner has several horses in the race, as is often the case, the chances of collecting are higher. Stable betting was general throughout the Middle East, particularly in Beirut.
Captain H. Hunt, a well-known cricketer and sportsman, was also in attendance as a rider, as well as, Captain W. Payne of the Dragoons, and a well-known English steeplechase rider (photographed). The only women competitor in the race meeting was Lieutenant Miss K. Tathan Warter of the Harsfield Spears Unit. You can just rely on Giacomo capacci. on June 28, 2022, the European Summer Sale was back. it was not for the first time that he rewarded fans of arabian horses from all over the world for their coming, staging an inspiring festival in his famous Training center in the rolling hills of cortana, in Southern Tuscany. after what felt like almost two years of lock down, it was high time for an event that was real, and for Giacomo’s analogous world of arabian horse breeding and training to reopen its gates. an estimated 500 to 600 visitors from all across the globe had traveled in to the “European Summer Sale”, looking forward to finally being able to make plans together with friends and acquaintances, or to move things forward in their breeding or their joint

Thebusinesses.titleof the event referred to the origin of the horses, as lots of the guests, often together with their bodyguards, had come in from the arabian Gulf Region to acknowledge and appreciate the European marketplace and the effort put in by Giacomo and his team. The atmosphere was lively and hearty, as for long months, communication between breeders had been reduced to their home offices. mailing, blogging, chatting, posting, googling – smartphone or laptop almost occupied the most important place in most people’s lives, and every second, Facebook, instagram, or Whatsapp messages came in and went out in the virtual world of arabian horses. For a long time, even the streamed arabian horse shows were not enough to cheer up people, as
ultimately, it’s the entertainment that’s in the foreground. on an interim basis, media feedback and lots of “likes” served to compensate for the fact that the real horses were so far away. When finally, however, the fine scent of neapolitan pizza was joined by the pleasant smell and snorting sounds of the horses, a feeling of relief kind of emerged. at last, a reallife meeting with people and horses! an open House event such as this one makes it possible to experience communication and passion in company with each other, to discuss things on an equal footing, as with these events that do not actually feature a competition, there are neither winners nor disappointed people, hierarchies are flat, and there is a lot of common ground.

For a long time now, numerous breeders have been discussing real life alternatives to digital presentations and to the commercial shows that are hardly being attended by European studs anymore; just a few of these initiatives, however, actually left some tracks.
The floodlit auction proper was held late in the evening. Basically, it was merciless in bringing to light the current situation on the arabian horse markets: outstanding top-quality horses will always find a buyer, while in times of crisis, good horses have markedly less of a chance to attract interest at a fair price.
Giacomo capacci had orchestrated the professional live presentations of mares, stallions, and foals just perfectly. The showings were great experiences which were also well organized didactically. The mares were partly showcased with their foals, and wherever possible, the stallion that had served the mare
So Giacomo’s call to join his Summer Event arrived at just the right time. Traditionally, the training center team will experiment with different ways of staging their event and of providing the audience with meals. This time, the auction was held on the hill adjacent to the stallion barn. catering for the guests was taken care of by Donato Prisco’s stud and his team. They had brought in a genuine stone baking oven and presented original neapolitan pizzas that tasted outstandingly good, living up to their name and their origin with nothing left to be desired. They were introduced by buffalo mozzarella and other delicacies, with noble desserts and after rounding off the evening as far as culinary delights were concerned.

Every horse has his or her own charisma, enabling them to enchant the spectators in their individual ways. Simultaneous life stream videos in the background served to point out how very much less impressive horses are when just depicted on a monitor. Even their type appears more flat, less lively – for in order to perceive type with all senses, you need to be able to look into a horse’s face and to hear him, so as to be able to experience his charisma and personality. So, the result is: horses need to be seen and heard live, so as to be able to judge them fully. The guests had gone without that for more than two years, and were finally able to enjoy this experience again during this gripping, well-made evening. Rounding off the European Summer Sale, there was also an auction somewhat fallen out of time, featuring four different embryos. The audience’s opinion on that matter was quite clear. For a long time now, many breeders as well as trainers out of the horse industry have been asking why there are still some (few) studs that use embryo transfer not just in individual cases, but as a large-scale commercial breeding method. There is another aspect: Those outstanding foals who also reap high commercial value correspond to the particular individual characters of the mares raising them in real life, as the receiving mare during pregnancy and baby phase, she stamps the foal with her personality. over the evening, the audience of breeders, owners, trainers, judges, Dcs etc discussed a lot and cooked up ideas for improving the

show circus. Together with his wife, Koenraad Detailleur, an EcaHo judge, reported on their plan to conduct shows in a way that will European breeders make to want and to be able to take part in them again. Their suggestion was an event in Belgium, featuring show classes, but not championships; instead offering a character test of horses in-hand, and other creative classes. Emilio manzi from naples commented: “The main point is to have events like this one here again, as otherwise, everybody will be on his or her own and isolated.” We appear to have quite some things in common with horses, as we flourish in groups, we love to eat together and communicate with others, to share and perfect some passions in groups – reaching far beyond

Moving to the males results it is an extreme chance to watch over the best colts and the most famous stallions of the world in this one place. Many of them would not only continue their triumphant march across the shows this year but they are also the best future sires for the breeders worldwide and Menton may be the first chance to see many of them debuting at the big European stage, especially those young ones. And so in the yearling colts we had a chance to see the successful cooperation of Al Jassimya Farm bred and Akmal Stud own Baz Al Jassimya one of the first Exxalt sons on European soil and what a successful one: with class winner and Beat Head of Yearling Colts B but also Gold Medal and Best in Show Male! This filly has a very good show season that started with Gold in Dubai this year already and in Menton she also won Best in Show Female title. Silver Medal Junior Female – as well as the winner of the class 3 years old, Best Mover Junior Female and Best Head in her class was born in Italy at Alfabia Stud and currently own by Al Jassimya Farm – it was Brianne Alfabia by EKS Alihandro, placed in the championships in front of AJ Kayya the daughter of AJ Kafu out of EKS Alihandro daughter representing her original home of Ajman Stud. AJ Kayya was bronze last year at World Championship and this result she repeated in Menton. Al Shaqab this year left the show with the great result of receiving Gold Medal Senior Mares for Safiat Al Shaqab by Kahil Al Shaqab, the winner of the mares 4-7 years old. The class winner of eldest mares 9 years and over and a Silver Champion Senior was Bshaier Al Nasser a beautiful daughter of

Menton used to be a kind of confirmation who is the best stallion and also the most desirable sire of the season not only for European market. This year there were a few candidates for these prestigious titles and the level of cheer for each of them during the Sunday championship was overwhelming the whole sea coast that day. It’s enough to mention that some of the fans went up on the VIP tables to be more visible and more audible!
