UHT milk as the name suggests is subjected to

The resulting milk is all void of germs and bacteria has a longer shelf life (3 - 6 months) and is enriched with nutrients as much as the raw milk is. Once the packaging is opened, the milk has to be refrigerated and consumed within three days.

The longer shelf life itself is a huge selling point of UHT milk. The major set of consumers of UHT milk is naturally of the ones who require storage of milk for longer durations.
