Welcome! Welcome back to the University of Stirling for the team’s third game in 8 days. It has been a very busy week for the coaches and players after Sunday - Wednesday and now Sunday games again. The past two games have been tough on the side having not picked up any points but both games saw some positives with strong individual performances and strong teamwork for spells of each game. Today’s game sees the return of Rangers Women to Stirling and last season both sides played out many excellent matches with plenty of goals from both sides. The two teams have already met this season as all teams have played each other once and the league is now onto round two of three rounds of games. The previous meeting was on the 15th April where Rangers won 4-0 at home so they will come into this game confident even although they lost their last league match on Sunday to Forfar. The Stirling players have a point to prove after their midweek loss also to Forfar, but Head Coach Barry Rodgers is determined that his side can find the same form that saw them beat Hamilton a few weeks ago. After today’s game the squad have a well earned break from fixtures until the 27th May and then they will be back into a busy schedule. Good luck to both sides today and we look forward to an exciting game and hopefully 3 points for Stirling! Alison Mackie - Chairperson

Today’s game against Rangers WFC will see the unveiling of the teams new match strips thanks to a new relationship with the company and their Managing Director Ken Simpson who attends today’s match. Chairperson Alison Mackie said about the sponsorship ‘We are delighted to announce this new relationship with IBC and to unveil our new strips today. The sponsorship is a massive boost to the women’s football programme and will allow us to continue to grow and develop the team on and off the pitch. A massive thank you to Ken Simpson and his company for their support’.
Youth Pathway Partnership We are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with Riverside FC to create a new pathway for youth to adult football for girls and women within the Stirling area. Before today’s #SBSSWPL game players and coaches from local club Riverside FC took part in a training session with the players from our ladies team. After the training the girls will be able to get pictures and autographs together and will the team mascots escorting both sides onto the pitch today. Club officials from both clubs have been working together to form a pathway that will see the university start a girls soccer centre that will then feed into the existing youth teams at Riverside for U9s to U17s and then the players can aspire to join the adult teams within the club.
Vice Chairperson Shirley Martin said of today’s announcement and event ‘This is an exciting development for the overall club which we have been planning for a few years. We are delighted to have partnered with such a great local club to provide a clear pathway for girls in football and to also give them something to aspire to in terms of potentially joining the university on a football scholarship!’ Riverside FC were established in 1998 and have been running girls and young women’s football teams for many years.
