STATEMENT
Using the visual and structural qualities of textiles inspired by the company, Sockwell, the design of the space will be unified and dynamic. The interwoven qualities of textiles create a cohesive form while working independently to hold the structure together. This will drive the use of linear and angled walls and forms to separate spaces while keeping the office culture interwoven through consistency of materials, lighting and clear sightlines. The organic nature of threads will be abstracted using linear forms that interconnect physically and visually. The concept of being interwoven will also promote the design of the office to promote the communal and active office culture that Sockwell aims to maintain. The feeling of belonging and collaborating is essential for Sockwell’s success and creating both public and private spaces that embrace employees and connect various departments will help to achieve this.
CONCEPT + GOALS 9
to be
interwoven...
between performance and aesthic pleasures in design.
GOALS - Welcoming and inviting atmosphere through use of bright and warm lighting schemes. -Dynamic and flexible enclave and small meeting spaces through multiuse furniture and adaptable dividers and layouts - to promote collaboration -Unity throughout space through linear elements of wayfinding in ceiling articulation and flooring materials. -Promote wellness in workplace with zen enclaves and quiet spaces for meditation and quiet time -Encourage activity to walk around and stand such as coffee bars and use of internal stairs. -Efficiency in the workplace promoted through clustering work groups near corresponding managers.
