Miracles for Myeloma 5K Run/Walk The third annual Miracles for Myeloma 5k Run/Walk took place at Oakridge Park on Saturday September 26. Over 40 club members attended to help set up, face paint, walk/run and clean up. One member named Hart took first place for his age division in the 5k run! Vice President Brianna and Editor Simonne also participated in the race (all pictured below). It was a great event and showed the amount of help ALJ Key Club can do.

Happy Halloween From Key Club !

On Tuesday October 27, senior Key Clubs took a visit to Clark’s preschool in the morning. ALJ Key Club does multiple trips to the preschool throughout the year to teach the little kids important life lessons. This visit’s theme was manners with a Halloween. twist. The seniors participating on the trip met afterschool Monday to rehearse the skits for the preschoolers. The seniors split into groups to present to the children. To add to Halloween themed trip, the Key Clubbers dressed up in silly costumes. The next preschool visit will be open to all grades, so be on the look out!

Helping Out The Crusader Nation

The first two months of school are always busy and Key Club is always willing to help out the schools in Clark. Key Clubbers attended the high school back to school night to be tour guides for the parents and take care of set up/clean up. Then, at the 8th grade orientation hosted by ALJ high school, a few key clubbers were needed to represent the club to the future freshman. Vice President Brianna stated that the 8th graders were really excited about Key Club and couldn’t wait to join next year.

Key Club Clothing Drive On Friday October 23, ALJ Key Club had their clothing drive afterschool in the front entrance of the school. Members helped unload boxes and bags full of donated goods from cars. Then, everyone separated the bags and boxes by content. After three hours, the front of ALJ High School was covered in donated goods. The highest amount of goods was 15 bags and 2 bags! We raised 302 dollars from the goods donated. At the end, key clubs filled the truck with all the items. This event took a lot of muscle but it was a great time!

Spooky Service!

Take pictures & send them to the board’s emails or DM them to our Instagram! @aljkeyclub

Halloween is around the corner and this year, ALJ Key Club is asking it’s members to trick-ortreat for UNICEF this year. It’s an easy and fun way to help out the international community! All members have to do is pick up a box from Mrs. Zamboni’s office and then ask for donations on Halloween night. All proceeds will go directly to UNICEF. This year, make Halloween sweet like candy for everyone!

Pumpkin Painting The first night meeting took place on a Wednesday October 28th at 7:00pm. Night meetings are much different than our afterschool meetings. They are a bit longer ranging from 30minutes to 1 hour. Key Clubbers get a chance to do service during the night meetings. Last year, we made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless and needy at a night meetings. Our first night meeting was a service meeting and the board asked our members to please bring in a small pumpkin to decorate. After we decorated the small pumpkins, they were given to the elderly at our local nursing home.
