DO YOU HAVE MISTED / FOGGY DOUBLE GLAZING OR NEED WINDOW / DOOR REPAIRS?
Fibreglass Roof
In the trade we say that the double glazed sealed unit has ‘broken down’. This means that the perimeter edge seal has lost its integrity and that it is letting in moisture somewhere. The moisture itself is hard to spot at first, sometimes becoming only visible as the sun or another heat source ‘draws’ the moisture up. The only answer is to replace the double glazed sealed unit. No alterations or disruption to the window or door frames.

worcester carnival Worcester Carnival returns this year on Saturday 7th July. The event promises to be bigger and better than last year, with the procession starting at Pitchcroft before winding its way through the city centre. Helen Sherratt is one of the committee organising it and tells us more. The carnival will be bigger and better this year! We’re building on the success of last year’s event, when we achieved a lot in a short space of time. We’re extending the event across the whole day and we’re setting up a Carnival Village on Pitchcroft with a funfair, stalls to browse and a food area. There’s a community stage with music in the city centre and we’re also holding a football tournament on the day. If everything goes to plan, there should also be a flypast by a C47 Dakota aircraft, part of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. There was such support for the event last year which helped to spur us all on. On the day itself we didn’t know if it would work, but the positivity after the event was overwhelming. Some people estimated we had 10,000 people lining the route. I don’t know if that’s correct, but I walked at the front of the procession and the city centre was packed. It was a great day and we all came away buzzing! This year we’ve decided the theme will be ‘TV and Film’ which should give float decorators plenty to think about. We’ve had a lot of interest from groups registering. Organising floats is only one part of the hard work that goes into the carnival. We really need more people to volunteer their help and there’s all sorts of roles, from lining the route to helping on the community stage. If you’re interested then please contact volunteers@worcester-carnival.co.uk. There’s plenty of other activities apart from the day itself. We have a netball tournament taking place on Sunday 10th June. We also have a competition for local schools to design flags for the carnival parade (see the contact details are at the end of this page).
14
Purple Swan Photography Worcester City Council has supported us one hundred percent, along with several other key organisations and sponsors. The event is funded through sponsorship and grant-funding. On the day a bucket collection raises money for local charities. Last year we raised £1,500 which was split between Headway Worcestershire, Acorns Children’s Hospice and New Hope Worcester. We hope to raise even more this year, which will be donated to Worcester Play Council. Currently, the parade is scheduled to start at 3pm. There will be entertainment on the Community Stage in Cathedral Square in the morning and on the stage at Pitchcroft in the afternoon. You can find out more on our website as well as our facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds.

Recipe
tea-time fruit scones A recipe from Meg Edmunds at Roots At Roots we make A LOT of scones! There is nothing quite as comforting as the wafting aroma of baking scones and they really are simple to make. With a few store cupboard ingredients you can turn an afternoon cup of tea into quite a treat which is always appreciated by a friend calling in, or in my case, particularly enjoyed by children after a long day at school.
Ingredients 450g Self-raising Flour 75g Butter 50g Sultanas 1 tbsp Caster Sugar
Transfer the scones to the lined baking sheet. Dust with a little flour and put straight into the hot oven. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a cooling rack before serving with whipped cream and strawberry jam in that order (of course!).
Pinch of Salt 325g Milk You will also need a 6cm cutter (plain or fluted), a baking tray and some silicone paper.
Pre-heat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7. Light and fluffy scones require a gentle touch! Using the tips of your fingers, rub the butter into the flour until there are no large lumps. Then add the caster sugar, pinch of salt and sultanas, mix well. Check that the oven is up to temperature before adding the milk to the dry mixture. Once the milk is added work quickly to combine the ingredients into a rough dough and turn out onto a floured surface. Bring the dough together and knead through three or four turns, just until the dough is smooth and fully combined. Flatten the dough (using your hands or a rolling pin) to a thickness of approximately 4cm. Cut the scones closely together to minimise the amount of re-working cut offs (I have a rule of no more than three re-works) to give 8 scones.

Theatre News
the case of the frightened lady Building on the phenomenal, decade-long success of The Agatha Christie Company, which sold over two million tickets around the UK, comes a new thrilling chapter from 'the king of the detective thriller' Edgar Wallace, one of the most popular and prolific crime writers of the 20th Century. When Inspector Tanner is called in to investigate a ruthless murder at Mark’s Priory, the grand ancestral home of the Lebanon family, he quickly discovers that nothing is quite as it seems. As Tanner moves closer to the heart of the mystery he uncovers a shocking and closely guarded secret. The star cast includes Gray O’Brien, one of TV’s most popular actors, known for his memorable roles in The Loch, Peak Practice, Casualty and as Tony Gordon in Coronation Street; Denis Lill from long-running drama The Royal and Only Fools and Horses; and film star Oliver Phelps, who makes his stage debut having played the character of George Weasley in one of the most successful film franchises of all time, Harry Potter. Joining them is Deborah Grant from Not Going Out and Bergerac; Philip Lowrie, from Coronation Street; April Pearson, star of award-winning drama Skins; Agatha Christie Company stalwart Ben Nealon from the popular series Soldier Soldier, and Glenn Carter, widely recognised as the definitive Jesus in the hit musical and film of Jesus Christ Superstar. The Case of the Frightened Lady will be on stage at Malvern Theatres from Tuesday 17th to Saturday 21st July. Tickets are on sale at the Box Office 01684 892277 and online at malvern-theatres.co.uk
