This five-movement suite honors five iconic sculptures by Elizabeth Catlett, a revered multimedia artist, human rights activist, and African-American heroine of the highest order, whose work is featured in museums and public places around the country. • Multi-award-winning Rufus Reid, respected as one of the top bassists and educators in jazz, has earned over 15 major international awards including a Congressional Achievement Award and a Living Legacy Grant. • Reid will tour to support the project via special collaborations with existing big bands & orchestral ensembles in major cities, and at universities.
