“As ever, the production on [Wish Upon A Blackstar] is topnotch, rivaling the most widely renowned and respected producers in the industry, while the musicianship is simply above the standard industrial/electronic fare.” — RE:GEN

“Klayton (Celldweller) has ruthlessly forged a fantastic metal-infused dubstep sound tainted with unholy guitar riffs and haunting, glitchy, and highly nostalgic melodic work. When accompanied by a growling and slightly robotic lead synth capable of shredding the very fabric of reality, nothing can stand in the way of Celldweller.” — DUBSTEP.NET

Antisleep Vol. 01 is a collection of 18 eclectic, high-energy electronic compositions that showcase Blue Stahli’s production quality and writing styles. Composed originally for film/TV/video game licensing, these pieces fit perfectly in every fan’s collection, on the radio, or on the dance floor. So just what the hell is Antisleep Vol. 02? Much like Vol. 01, it’s a collection of tracks written for film and TV, but is a bit different than the vocal-based self-titled album not only because it is largely instrumental, but because there are ZERO genre restrictions, allowing Blue Stahli to flail wildly from heavy guitar-driven rock and funky breakbeats to full-on electro and glitzy Vegas action. “Slithers sensually along with breaking beats and groovy bass lines reminiscent of Paul Oakenfold, while the smooth and highly melodic vocals recall the ’80s retro rock of Julien-K.” — RE:GEN VOL. 01 Track Listing: Overklock • 88 Rounds Per Minute • Shotgun Senorita • Regret • Accelerant • High Heeled Low Life • Doublequick • High Roller Mojo • Mystique • Premeditated • The Ultimate • Hit Me • Shiny • East • Disco Punks on Jolt • Leadfoot Getaway • Bulletproof • The Perfect Heist VOL. 02 Track Listing: Let’s Go • Blast Action • Trash Glamour Rock Chick • So So Bad • Smackdown • Rapid Fire • Jet Set • Jackhammer Manifesto • Kiss Kiss Bang Bang • Glitterati • Railgun • Vegas, Baby • Fierce Pop Starlet • Dragstrip Burnout • Slick • Let’s Go (Instrumental) • So So Bad (Instrumental)

Raw, uncompromising, and visceral, Skinny Puppy live cannot simply be called a concert. It is an experience. Bootlegged, Broke And In Solvent Seas proves this to be true. Recorded in Warsaw, Bratislava, Hildesheim, and Budapest, this is a documentation of Skinny Puppy in top form. Unlike so many other live albums, there is no editing magic or trickery. These are the songs as they were played, captured from the soundboard and a handheld recorder by Ken ‘Hi-Watt’ Marshall. Ogre’s powerful vocal performances coupled with cEvin Key’s synth modulations & sound manipulations, with the machine-precise drums of Justin Bennet, make this a stunning testimony to the power of this legendary act.

In 2008, a group of friends started Starring with modest ambitions. In 2011, the group partnered with Matt Mehlan to write and record a full-length album. Drawing inspiration from new creative directions in their many other musical projects and collaborators (Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang, Pterodactyl, Frankie Rose, Skeleton$, Talibam!, Till By Turning, Anthony Braxton), the band spent six months writing this concept album, a landscape of trap doors and bizarre juxtapositions.

Catchy hooks and sweet vocal harmonies backed by a wall of thick, fuzzy guitars and hard-hitting drums with an added sprinkling of analog synth sounds—combined, they result in a truly unique sound. Hailing from Finland, Mangoo have been busting out the fuzz since 2005, when they released their untitled debut EP. Now, 2012 will see the release of the band’s second album and Small Stone debut, entitled Neverland. Displaying a more dynamic and varied sound, Neverland delivers the heavy, the mellow, the jams, and the hooks. If you believe Benny Grotto, who mixed the album, it’s “a really cool band from Finland who sorta sound like a cross between QOTSA, Rush, Yes, and the Foo Fighters. In theory, forming a rock group seems like a no-brainer: a group of musicians who have a shared love of certain bands, and who can get along with each other for at least an hour. But in reality it’s a lot tougher, and the essential ingredient—what makes the group truly unique and memorable—is something that can’t be defined, learned, or bought. Call it talent, magic, or whatever you want, but Greenleaf’s got it. A supergroup of the stoner-rock scene, the band was formed sometime in late 1999/ early 2000 by guitarist Tommi Holappa (Dozer), drummer Daniel Liden (Demon Cleaner, drummer on Dozer’s Through the Eyes of Heathens, and current member of AND The Machine Said Behold!), and engineer/ bassist Bengt Bäcke.

Featuring a revolving cast of fellow musicians who share a love of heavy fuzz rock, including Fredrik Nordin (Dozer) and Peder Bergstrand (Lowrider), Greenleaf has consistently defined what rock ‘n’ roll was, is, and should be. And now it’s time to rejoice, because Greenleaf is back with Nest of Vipers. Like their past releases, Vipers is a righteous kick in the ass and a testament to the almighty riff. This time, Tommi and Bengt are joined by Oskar Cedermalm (Truckfighters) on vocals, Olle Mårthans (Dozer) on drums, Johan Rockner (Dozer) on guitar, and a handful of guests. This new lineup keeps Greenleaf moving forward without losing track of what made them great in the first place. Take note: this is what a rock band should sound like.

Formed in Long Beach, CA in 2008, Joyce Manor is crunchy, catchy pop-punk that’s so good it’s almost a guilty pleasure. This four-piece band plays in their own style of easily likeable Jawbreaker-esque punk complete with driving bass lines, gang vocals, and bright guitars. Although definitely a departure from the hardcore that 6131 Records is known for, Joyce Manor’s self-titled album will no doubt secure the label’s growing reputation as having an ear for up-and-coming music. After hearing their demo, 6131 said, “there was no way we could not work with them,” and once you give a listen to Joyce Manor, you’ll understand exactly what they meant.

New York was always the breeding ground of legendary hardcore and crossover bands in the mid ’80s, so it was no surprise that a new darker crossover sound should arise. Bands like Sheer Terror, Crumbsuckers, and Carnivore combined the sound of New York hardcore with influences from extreme metal like Celtic Frost and Slayer. Formed in 1991, All Out War quickly started releasing demos and EPs to much praise in the underground scene, but it was not until 1995 that the band recorded their debut full-length, Truth In The Age Of Lies. Based purely on word of mouth, the band exploded with worldwide acclaim. Soon after, their label folded and the album became a highly sought-after underground rarity. Now, 15 years later, Organized Crime is proud to re-release this crossover classic with expanded packaging and bonus tracks. Track Listing: Resist • Truth In The Age Of Lies • After Autumn • Destined To Burn • Redemption For The Innocent • Fall From Grace • Cross Of Disbelief • Fight For God • The Deceived And The Deceivers • Crucial Times In Existence • Day Of Judgment • Destined To Burn* • Struggle Within* • Fall From Grace* • Stuck Inside* • Day Of Judgment* (*’92 Demo Tracks)

Publicity by Big Hassle. AAA & CMJ radio campaign by Tender Loving Empire. Summer tour dates including multiple festival spots. Release day social media giveaways.

The inspiration for Radiation City’s newest output stems from an old piano that has lived in drummer Randy Bemrose’s basement for eons. It’s old, cumbersome, and on its last legs. The band used sounds from the piano throughout the recording of this new EP … not just the keys, but the clicks and clacks from the body, the slamming of the lid, and virtually every other sound you can imagine making on a piano. After they were finished, the piano was beat up, out of tune, and falling apart. Having used the old piano for all its worth, and in celebration of an intense year, Radiation City engaged in the ceremonial destruction of the old piano documented on the first single’s video, “Find It Of Use.”

“One of the year’s more charming debuts, which drifts between moody, organ-driven numbers and more upbeat pop.” — BROOKLYN VEGAN “Let’s just say it’s really good.” — NYLON “Seriously, no shit, truly … this is SO good.” — MY OLD KENTUCKY BLOG “A belly-full of magnificent dynamic tension.” — DAYTROTTER “Superbly crafted, easily pinpointed yet unmistakably captivating, pop music.” — DEATH + TAXES

Emily Jane White’s third album is her most realized work to date. Drawing upon finger-picked folk, traditional country, classical music, and rock, White creates an expansive space for her intuitive lyrics and elegiac vocals. The spare skeletons of the songs are fleshed out with subdued electric guitar thrums, diaphanous organ, ethereal pedal steel guitar, lush strings, and White’s dusky alto with its signature catch. There’s a rare confidence to White’s songwriting; it’s at once generous and tough-minded, reflective and unsentimental. Her work shares some elements with folk music, but the term does not do justice to her ambitious songwriting and robust arrangements. White possesses a singular voice inspired by the raveled threads of the uncanny in American culture, including depression-era blues and classic works of gothic literature such as Toni Morrison’s Beloved and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper.

In addition to lyrics by the infamous poet Aldo Braibanti, Il Bestiario features arrangements and synthesizer from legendary avant-garde composer Alvin Curran, as well as the soprano saxophone of jazz great Steve Lacy. Sylvain Leroux’s debut Quatuor Créole is a blend of West Indian, African, jazz, and Western conservatory music. The record is built around the idea that jazz was born in New Orleans, largely because of the presence of Creole culture there. In Louisiana there were white “French Creoles,” mostly French and Spanish who settled there, and “Creoles of color,” who were free blacks who came from the West Indies. The idea of fusing these two Creole cultures is reflected in the lineup of this record—French Canadian Leroux and Haitian percussionist Sergo Décius are joined by distinguished pianist and vibe player Karl Berger, who Leroux has played and studied with for over 30 years.

“As a disciple of Ornette Coleman’s harmolodics, as a sideman for Don Cherry’s early ventures into the fusion of jazz and world music, as the eccentric visionary behind the Woodstock-based Creative Music Studio, and now as mastermind and conductor of the Stone Workshop Orchestra, Karl Berger has practiced and encouraged the art of opening oneself to the immediate, shrugging off preconceptions in order to hear the options inherent in the here and now.” — JAZZ TIMES Track Listing: Oxossi • Tanganika • fantaisie créole • Fantancolo • dans la forêt • le message • Notis • Monk in paradise • MIH • Gambalou Key Markets: Hometown: New York

Selling Points

• Highly anticipated follow-up to Threadgill’s This Brings Us To, Volumes 1 & 2, which topped the Village Voice, DownBeat, and Jazz Times Year-End Critics’ Polls and was named among the Best Releases of the Year by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Reader, Detroit Metro Times, San Jose Mercury News, and many others. • Recently the subject of feature profiles with NPR’s All Things Considered, New York Times, The Wire, DownBeat, JazzTimes, and Signal to Noise. • RIYL: Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Anthony Braxton, Art Ensemble of Chicago.

Media & Marketing

• Full press mailing to newspapers, magazines/jazz magazines, music critics, and influential blogs. • Full radio servicing to CMJ and JazzWeek panel jazz stations, and NPR programming.

Tomorrow Sunny / The Revelry, Spp is the new release from Henry Threadgill, whose prior releases This Brings Us To, Volumes 1 & 2 topped many critics’ year end lists in 2009 and 2010. The CD features Zooid, the longest-running band of Threadgill’s 40-year career, which now includes Christopher Hoffman on cello, rounding out the band to Threadgill’s originally intended instrumentation.

“Threadgill has long been one of the most thrillingly elusive composers in and around the jazz idiom: a sly maestro of unconventional timbres, bristling counterpoint and tough but slippery rhythms.” — NEW YORK TIMES “The jazz world is coming to realize that he’s a true idiosyncratic great … Threadgill’s music staggers and lurches and creates dissonances, and it still brings the mad-scientist funk.” — NPR

“Bewitching, if tough to pin down … Resisting familiar chord changes, scales, and overt structure, the album won’t be the easiest of listens for some, but somehow it never sounds the same way twice. As its mysteries unfurl, This Brings Us To ultimately remains rewarding simply by being so much fun to follow.” — LOS ANGELES TIMES

The Tampa Bay area’s Alexander & The Grapes are a revelation. Young minds and hearts meld with influences worn boldly on their collective sleeves. We won’t say indie or alt-country. We won’t declare them breezy singer/songwriters. But … with “wise beyond their years” touches of “The Last Waltz” sprinkled with sounds of peers and contemporaries Dr. Dog or David Bazan, we will say all of the aforementioned exist within the realm of The Grapes.

“With its big riffs and ’90s college rock indie boy vocals, ‘East Coast’ almost certainly would have been perfect for an episode of ‘My So-Called Life,’ had the two met at the right time.” — FUZZY LOGIC “Charos sings about falling short and other hallmarks of the human condition with the honesty and economy of Gram Parsons and Kris Kristofferson.” — CREATIVE LOAFING “With their first LP due out this coming year, Alexander & The Grapes are sure to draw attention.” — SXSW.com

The Daredevil Christopher Wright The Nature of Things Selling Points

• Second full-length album from this trio. • Vinyl version includes digital download card. • RIYL: Fleet Foxes, The Decemberists.

Media & Marketing

• Promotion by Daniel Gill at Force Field PR.

Born in 2004 out of the thriving indie music scene in Eau Claire, WI, The Daredevil Christopher Wright unites brothers Jon & Jason Sunde with the percussion and vocals of friend Jesse Edgington. Their first full-length album In Deference to a Broken Back, an expansive and collaborative effort, was released through Amble Down Records. Their sophomore album, 2012’s The Nature of Things, is the result of asking what can be created by three men at ease with their instruments, storytellers at heart. Where In Deference enlisted the help of a large group of friends and fellow musicians, The Nature of Things scales back. Recorded by Patrick Stolley, founding engineer for the celebrated music blog Daytrotter, the album reflects simplicity. Their classical voice training and pleasing, unexpected harmonies are evident throughout the album in pieces such as “Church” and “Ames, IA,” where we are allowed to glimpse, in eavesdropped conversations, a couple divorcing, a meth addict begging for freedom, and church bells tolling for no other reason but that the dead rest below.

“With lightness, vigor & appetite, these Wisconsin folkies set themselves apart from all the lonelies and weepies.” — SAID THE GRAMOPHONE “Much like the death-defying motorcycle jumping performance artist for which they’re named, this Wisconsin trio is fearless in their pursuit of artistic glory.” — MY OLD KENTUCKY BLOG

Kawabata Makoto & à qui avec Gabriel Golden Tree Selling Points

• Beautiful new work that strongly contrasts Kawabata’s playing with Acid Mothers Temple. • Japanese accordionist à qui avec Gabriel has released work on John Zorn’s Tzadik label.

Duo collaboration between Japanese female accordionist à qui avec Gabriel, who previously released a solo album on John Zorn’s Tzadik label, and Acid Mothers Temple guitarist and guitar-drone soundscape artist Kawabata Makoto. Kawabata’s guitar traces heretical designs through the stoically beautiful illuminated manuscripts of à qui avec Gabriel’s accordion and voice, and the combination is deeply phantasmal.

“Weaving shimmering phrases and drones, Makoto brings to mind the soundscapes of Robert Fripp’s more recent solo releases.” — IGLOO “There has always seemed to be something of a spiritual component to Makoto’s work, in the manner of a Buddhist monk sitting in silence for as long as It takes. Whether it’s through amphetaminefueled heaviness or, as here, cosmic drone, Makoto specializes in Oneness-With-Everything.” — STYLUS “It’s easy to feel jaded, or at least overwhelmed, by the sheer volume of Acid Mothers Temple-related product that comes out every year, and tempting to look at the already sagging shelf and just say enough. The problem is, by doing so you might miss out on something pretty cool.” — DUSTED

Philadelphia-based Cesium_137 has garnered a rabid following due to the act’s ability to embrace varied electronic dance music genres in order to forge a fresh, innovative sound. From the opening notes of the lead track “Aftermath,” the quality and effort become immediately apparent.
