Airgo’s extensive network of partners ranges from public relations, radio promotion, and music supervision, to online and offline marketing, publishing, and lifestyle/brand marketing.

NAIL WELCOMES TRIPLE -B RECORDS

pg 11

Sam Cooke’s voice carried a full 30 yards on the humid air that night, floating from the juke inside Sonny’s BBQ to the browning mango tree beneath which Sam Yarmuth was conceived. Much to the amazement of all involved, these humble beginnings in America’s deep south some 23 years ago have produced Triple-B Records, the aggressive music monopoly of sublime appellation you read about now. The last 18 months saw Triple-B release some of finest pieces of music ever pressed—Dead End Path’s phantasmagoric Blind Faith, Fire & Ice’s magnificent Collections, and a reissue of Bane’s magnum opus Give Blood. Upcoming releases include Disengage, Stick Together, Sweet Jesus, Clear, D.N.A, Languid Flowers, and more—yes, Triple B Records is here to stay, rising up in a cloud of blazing gold vermillion over the mountain of sonic excrement left in its wake. Triple-B Records comes to NAIL via REV Distro.

This year marks a milestone for the Chicago Underground Duo—their 15th year together as a band! In celebration of this momentous occasion, the duo now releases a new record on a brand-new label. Finding time to get back in the studio was a challenge, as Rob has been touring with his trio Starlicker, The Sao Paulo Underground, and the Exploding Star Orchestra while Chad has been with the Marc Ribot Trio, Side A (Ken Vandermark, Havaard Wiik), and Digital Primitives. And yet, the duo persevered to complete the new record over four days in Chicago with Todd Carter (TV Pow). “Their stripped-down minimal approach to music produces an apocalypse of sound.” — All About Jazz

On msg rcvd, Neptune employs an array of new techniques and methodologies to explore indeterminacy and difficult phenomena such as feedback. Moving away from guitar feedback, this record features amplified drum feedback as well as the introduction of two new “feedback-organ” machines. On msg rcvd, the listener becomes eerily aware that trash is not just the junk on the street and in alleys, but is also the invisible radiation that surrounds and permeates us and, in an expanded sense, the very material of which our bodies and experiences are made. One man’s trash, another man’s Neptune.

If you enjoyed Iota’s 2008 Small Stone debut Tales, then you are going to dig the hell out of Dwellers! This could be, in part, due to the fact that it features Iota songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Joey Toscano. So yes, you’ll get the heavy, fuzz-soaked, freaked-out, psychedelic guitar assaults. But what sets Dwellers apart from the aforementioned band is a more focused approach to songwriting. The songs are a bit shorter (if only slightly) and dive a little more into the psych/blues territory. You could say that Dwellers are a bit more straightforward, but there are definitely many surprises to be had… Track Listing: Secret Revival • Black Bird • Vultures • Ode to Inversion Layer • Lightening Ritual • Old Honey Key Markets: Hometown: Salt Lake City. As their name alludes, Hellbound Glory is well on the way to proving they are a force to be reckoned with in the country music world, fusing superior songwriting and hard-living characters with a hard-edged honky-tonk sound. The group is known for its instrumental dexterity, while vivacious frontman Leroy and his compadres are notorious for their down-home, good-old-boy attitude. This attitude—and the songwriting chops to back it up—have won over fans far and wide. Whether they are playing in front of 200 or 2,000, Hellbound Glory leaves audiences begging for more as they envelop the crowd with Leroy’s powerful storytelling and showmanship.

Since rising from Phoenix’s punk/rockabilly scene in 2004, The Earps have delivered extravagant honky-tonk tales of drinking, women, and police evasion; a blend of glam-metal distortion and debauchery tempered by old-school country twang. They embody the hard-partying, devil-may-care attitude of vintage ’80s cock rock, and perfectly inject that attitude into these reinterpreted Buck Owens classics. I’m sure the purists may roll their eyes, and that’s OK. The ghost of Buck Owens haunts this record, and celebrates these re-imagined tunes. I’m sure the purists rolled their eyes at Buck back in the day as well…

London omni-metallers Astrohenge are back, and someone must have slipped something into their coffee! Based around a concept of going on holiday to a strange planet of women, the second Astrohenge album takes their trademark sound and applies an amphetamine enema—10 songs of utter chaos dealing in gargantuan riffage, breakneck drumming, bonkers keyboard playing, and the spectrum of heavy sounds from sludge, thrash, and death metal to prog and god knows what else. Possibly their Reign In Blood due to the velocity and brevity with which they tear through the material, this album is a punch in the face to anyone expecting a predictable listen. The band has a fierce live reputation—with supporting slots for Between The Buried And Me, Cannabis Corpse, Taint, Ramesses, Monotonix, and more—and has been chosen for this year’s Damnation Festival. In the world of Mind.In.A.Box, minds are imprisoned and usually unaware of their confinement. It is a metaphor for everything that prevents our minds from truly being free, from the shackles of everyday life to the feeling of solitude in an increasingly self-centered world. With the new album Revelations, MIAB once again took us into this world as voices, lush sounds, and elaborate rhythms blended into a staggering sonic mélange. This stunningly beautiful world is further explored in the follow-up Revelations Club.Mixes, a fantastic release that sees the band reimagine five tracks from the album into club-friendly dance versions.

On this first volume of the Die Aesthetik der Herrschaftsfreiheit trilogy, the aesthetic dimension is one of immediacy. This is made plain by the choice of the recording techniques used—throughout the entire production, Jerome Reuter used only analog equipment—and the raw, unrelenting sound. ROME finds musical expression in multifaceted, stylistically different arrangements, from haunting sequences reminiscent of audio books to plaintive ballads and experimental industrial collages.

On part two of the trilogy, ROME presents a stylistic and emotional potpourri where all manner of things are on offer: rousing folk numbers with an almost seditious air, dark romantic ballads, and intimate collages. Without ever becoming enslaved to one particular ideological alignment, the song cycle portrays the history of the libertarian/revolutionary movement within Europe and, at the same time, underlines the human importance of such an endeavor. “Among these ballads of conquest and defeat, love and loss, you will detect an underlying power.” — Plague Haus

On part three of the trilogy, ROME preserves a necessary critical distance from its subject without sinking into formlessness. At the same time, the band succeeds in illustrating the warm-heartedness of their protagonists and demonstrating the unity of art and the struggle for freedom. From Plato to Nietzsche, all innovators mistrusted art even though it is inseparably connected to revolt, because artists want to create the world anew. “This full-length debut CD is nothing less than an impressive piece of work … ROME truly is a fresh new talent.” — FunProx.com Track Listing: The Conquest Of Violence • All For Naught • You Threw It At Me Like Stones • Automation • Time And Tide • Dawn And The Darkest Hour • Years Of Abalone • Petrograd Waltz • Disbandment • Ballots And Bullets • Appeal To The Slaves • A Cross Of Flowers

Alto saxophonist Steve Lehman has arrived. The New York Times described his 2009 release Travail, Transformation and Flow as “a breathtaking accomplishment” and its #1 Jazz/Pop CD of 2009. That album solidified Lehman’s status as a young visionary composer with powerful new ideas about the future of jazz. On his new trio CD, Dialect Fluorescent, Lehman defies his reputation as a future-fixated modernist and combines his own state-of-the-art compositions with a program of compositions by jazz legends like John Coltrane and Jackie McLean. But this album isn’t just about paying homage—every piece is treated as an opportunity to demonstrate a broad continuum of possibilities within the jazz tradition.

Blackie and The Rodeo Kings Kings and Queens: Deluxe Edition

• Deluxe re-release features two new tracks! • Features Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Pam Tillis, Exene Cervenka, and more! • Full radio servicing & publicity campaign planned.

In 1996 when Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing, and Tom Wilson came together to record what was supposed to be a one-off tribute album to the great songwriter Willie P. Bennett, there was nary a thought that they would eventually become a going concern as a band. At the time, all three members were deeply committed to burgeoning solo careers that they had no intentions of putting on hold. Twelve years later, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings has organically evolved into one of the finest roots-oriented bands in North America, releasing six CDs and remaining one of Canada’s greatest musical treasures. Now, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are proud to announce their upcoming release, an impressive collaboration by the name of Kings and Queens. This release pairs the band with some of their favorite female singers and friends—and some of the biggest names in roots, blues, and jazz—Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Pam Tillis, Serena Ryder, Lucinda Williams, Cassandra Wilson, Amy Helm, Janiva Magness, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Sam Phillips, Sara Watkins, Exene Cervenka, Patti Scialfa, and Holly Cole. Grammy- and Juno Award-winning producer Colin Linden (Bruce Cockburn, Tom Wilson, Stephen Fearing, Colin James) took the helm for the album, and the new recordings have taken the Kings from Nashville to Toronto.

The idea for Kings and Queens was hatched in a rental van at the end of a Rodeo Kings tour. Late one night, on a long drive, the band began talking about the various female artists they had worked with over the years. What began with a page torn out of a notebook and a lot of interjections like “Hey, what about…” transformed into a whole album featuring these legendary and iconic female voices—one on each of 14 stellar tracks.

Necrotek’s second full-length album on Vendetta is an homage to the psychedelic electro-industrial sound of the ’80s and ’90s. While staying true to his old-school influences, Necrotek has developed a singular sound, setting him apart from the usual “industrial” fare of the current scene; the music is menacing and hypnotic, energetic and evocative, with lyrics that explore a philosophical questioning of existential experience.
