Since Aki Onda was a child, he has had a special fondness for Mexico. Some of his earliest memories are watching his father’s homemade Super 8 films from his time in Mexico City during the 1968 Olympics, where he competed as a member of the Japanese hockey team. On this recording, Onda uses three cassette Walkmans to record his travels through Mexico. The imperfect condition of the recorders produced beautifully messed-up sound collages that blur the boundary between reality and imagination through chaos. Dehn Sora began his solo project, Treha Sektori (meaning “the place where they fall”), from a feeling of absence that he wanted to express through music.
