Coming of age in Pennsylvania’s snowbelt, Roger Harvey began cutting his songwriting teeth in his early twenties as Dandelion Snow while laying down new roots in Brooklyn. Relocating back to his home state in 2010 to form the punk act White Wives, he quickly began collecting new material. After befriending producer/multiinstrumentalist J. Vega in 2012, the two holed up for over a year in Vega’s The Wilderness Recording Studio to piece together a new album, Twelve Houses, with the help of nearly a dozen friends and local music makers. A beautifully lush record saturated with horns, pedal steel guitars, unique percussion, and reverb, Twelve Houses sounds like the record Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) would have made if he’d grown up in the ’90s.

Die Krupps mastermind Jürgen Engler is a visionary who has had a lasting influence on the music landscape for decades. In the late 1970s, he was among the first German punk rockers with his band Male. In the eighties, he formed Die Krupps, a driving force of the industrial and EBM movements. When this scene was taken over by the mainstream in the nineties, the group from Düsseldorf integrated tough thrash guitars into their sound and became, along with Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, the most important source of inspiration in the electro metal genre, influencing numerous bands of the Neue Deutsche Härte and inspiring a genre that produced acts such bands as Oomph!, Eisbrecher, and Rammstein.

No doubt about it — this album sees Die Krupps not only following in the footsteps of their successful electro-metal phase of the nineties, it also sees them go even further in terms of sheer toughness!

Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame is Scott Fields’ first “proper” solo CD. He performs these nine compositions on a flat-top, steelstring guitar using a more-or-less classical guitar technique. Because steel strings are as hard as steel, they quickly wear down fingernails. Antonette Goroch is a singer, songwriter, writer, mother, and world traveler. A vocalist and storyteller since the age of five, she has binge-dabbled in various musical styles including live theater, opera, classical, Eastern European folk, punk, rock, blues, and Americana. Her sound has been compared to other contemporary folk artists like Neko Case and Penelope Houston, but she draws inspiration from artist revolutionaries like Kathleen Hanna and Bertolt Brecht, musical poets like Patti Smith and Leonard Cohen, and reflective observers like John Steinbeck and Jack Kerouac. Her music is equal parts celebration and seduction, pleasure and provocation, but always an inquisitive dissection of human connection and the power that flows from it.
