In order to maximize Olongapo City’s potential as a premiere Freeport city of the region, the study shall be developed around the concept of “urban linkage” between the city and its economic anchor, Subic Bay Freeport Zone. This can be achieved by addressing the overlaps, parallels and constraints of culture, mobility and economy in between the two areas. This study shall also introduce a thorough interpretation of “linkage” in the city and the zone’s context as well as a comprehensive framework of translation, both conceptual and formal, that can be followed by future developments around the chosen sites. Furthermore, this study shall emphasize the need to effectively design critical “linkages” of sites, and shall set a guideline and considerations in presenting cross-border and cross-territory urban interventions.
