The projects MARYPORT REGENERATION
A better town for residents, visitors and businesses Maryport is a fantastic place with a stunning coastline, fascinating history and incredible heritage. We want to make it an even better place for local people to live and work - and tourists to visit. That's why our Maryport regeneration team has been working hard devising regeneration plans which build upon the town's assets and bring investment into the area. And we've had successes so far! Our bids to the High Street Fund and Heritage Action Zone pot of money have been accepted.
The town centre and high street We want to make Maryport town centre even more sustainable, with shops and businesses which attract visitors and shoppers during the day and night. Centred on Senhouse Street we're looking at ideas which result in improvements to transport and infrastructure, better housing, and conservation of the fantastic architectural heritage. We also want to manage a series of events which help promote the town and boost business.
The harbour Maryport harbour has huge further potential as a visitor attraction, a great business location and a place to live. We're looking at various options to fully make use of this part of the town, which will compliment and feed into the town centre.
The promenade Who doesn't enjoy a walk along Maryport Prom? We want to make it even better and are looking at what we can do with this area to attract more local residents and visitors to use this part of town.
