We address the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. Through the generosity of donors, we provide volunteers with free, on-the-job training, enable direct impact and rebuild safe, disaster-resilient infrastructure. Charity Navigator rates us, on operational and financial efficiency, among the top 10% of charities in America.
Our Smart Response Strategy RESPONSE Immediately after a disaster, we carefully listen to the community to identify their greatest needs, effectively begin response work, and create a long-term action plan. RECOVERY Where needed, we make a long-term commitment to build disaster-resilient homes, schools, daycare facilities and community centers—the hubs of every community. RESILIENCE By laying out and constructing disaster-resilient buildings to code, we ensure the structures are stronger and more sustainable to weather future disasters. RENEWAL We live in the communities where we serve and become a part of them. This leads volunteers to uncover new ways to help, which invariably brings fresh ideas and creative solutions.
Our Story The lives of founders David Campbell and Petra Nemcova were changed forever by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. In 2005, David started All Hands Volunteers and Petra established Happy Hearts Fund. In 2017, these two organizations merged to form All Hands and Hearts, allowing more donor support to directly benefit disaster-affected communities.
