Our Work Across Five Continents 2020 is shaping up to be the busiest year in our history. Because of you, we’re able to give more homeowners a safe place to live and enable more students to return to disaster-resilient schools. In this winter update, you’ll see the impact of your support for both individuals and communities across the globe. Learn more by visiting our website.
New Programs Opening We’re opening new programs in Australia, Mexico, Mozambique and the U.S. March The scale and scope of need are extensive on Kangaroo Island, Australia. Our first priority is the installation of sediment fences to protect water supplies from contamination and additional scopes of work will focus on environmental impact, habitat restoration and livelihoods support. April We’ve been asked to return to Florida to assist homeowners In Jackson County. This community was heavily impacted by Hurricane Michael but received less media attention and disaster relief assistance.
We have earned a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator six years in a row and a Perfect 100. Less than 1% of rated nonprofits have received this distinction for financial and operational efficiency.
May With the combination of success from earlier phases of work and the high need, we’ll return to Oaxaca, Mexico and Lamego, Mozambique to continue rebuilding schools.
The Bahamas Hurricane Relief Our focus has been on repairs and rebuilds of schools (seven to-date) and roofing repairs on homes. "Much of the population in Abaco evacuated or were displaced. And now they’re largely unable to return because there is no housing," explains David Eisenbaum, Director of International Response, "There's a tremendous need for manpower and the recovery is limited by this shortage of labor."
