JARDIN DE NIÑOS 13 DE SEPTIEMBRE PRESCHOOL ● The concrete foundation has been poured and block work up to the plinth beam is complete. ● The playground has been painted.. ● Fence refurbishment has started. ● See here for a video about the preschool.
Volunteer fundraising Paola and Marion, bravely vowed to shave their heads if the base could raise $700 before midnight. The team exceeded their target and raised a grand total of $1,600! This is a great example of just how much volunteers contribute - not only by working on site 6 days a week, but also by fundraising. In March, volunteers raised over $12,000.
Kites with kindergarten A team of 6 staff and volunteers made and flew kites with the kids, parents and teachers of the kindergarten! They spent 2 hours making the kites from scratch and another hour flying them. Volunteers and kids were super happy to share this experience had lots of fun together!

DISASTER PROFILE The Central Mexico earthquake struck on September 19, 2017. The 7.1 magnitude earthquake caused severe damage in the state of Morelos and the greater Mexico City area. OUR WORK In partnership with Happy Hearts Fund Mexico and with support from donors, partners, and volunteers from around the world, All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response has run an impactful program in Mexico since February 26, 2018. Initially working in the state of Morelos, we are now able to expand our efforts into Oaxaca, where we are working on Celso Munoz Primary School and Jardin de Niùos 13 de Septiembre Preschool. Our work on the classrooms, computer room, office, and bathrooms, will give students schools a safe, secure place to go to school everyday.
OUR MISSION To effectively and efficiently address the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. By listening to local people, and deploying a unique model of engaging volunteers to enable direct impact, we rebuild safe, resilient schools, homes and other community infrastructure.
