SHOP DINE GUIDE
SHOPPING AND DINING IN LOWER MANHATTAN
It seems every year Lower Manhattan becomes an even more vibrant place to shop, dine and play. With scores of new retailers joining the downtown scene, it’s easy to see why our neighborhood is known as a world-class 24/7 destination for dining, shopping and so much more.
In the past year, we’ve gained dozens of new restaurants of all persuasions and price ranges, from omakase at Tsubame to a gluten-free lunch at Springbone Kitchen to an elegant date night at Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson. And at long last, after a pandemic-induced hiatus, neighborhood favorite Delmonico’s has returned to its historic home in Lower Manhattan. All these options at every turn do nothing but stoke our appetites.
In addition to these new high-end eateries and casual neighborhood joints, there are now even more reasons to hang out downtown outside of work hours. We recently welcomed the first Manhattan outpost of Brooklyn’s Sixpoint Brewery to Brookfield Place, which is complete with a 3,000 square-foot outdoor beer garden. Meanwhile, below the Beekman Hotel, the new Club Laissez-Faire brings a glamorous dose of New York nightlife downtown as the spot to dance the night away.
If the dynamism of these streets isn’t enough to wake you up, luckily, Lower Manhattan is also one of the best places to grab a cup of joe in the city. This past year, Simpl Coffee, Coffee Project and Birch Coffee opened in our neighborhood to give you the jolt of energy you crave.
We were also thrilled to officially welcome the highly anticipated Perelman Performing Arts Center to the
neighborhood last fall. This jewel now joins the ranks of other cultural institutions downtown like the National Museum of the American Indian, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
The shopping scene got even better downtown with the additions of many new retailers, including Nike Well Collective at Brookfield Place and Pretty Well Beauty at Shops at the Oculus. We are also looking forward to giving French department store Printemps a warm Lower Manhattan bienvenue when it opens its first U.S. store at 1 Wall St. in the coming months.
No neighborhood is complete without places to work hard and play hard, and downtown is no exception. Luckily, several new additions include Open Squash, Court 16 and Lawn Club at the Seaport, which has classic lawn games and great cocktails. Looking ahead, we’re also excited for health-club chain Fitness International’s new three-level, 36,650-square-foot home, as well as the downtown iteration of SPiN, a Ping-Pong gaming center, which plans to open later this year.
Of course, the beauty of Lower Manhattan is in its continual evolution. With that in mind, please remember to go to our website, downtownny.com, for the most up-to-date information.
And as always, if there are shops, restaurants and activities youʼd like to see in Lower Manhattan in the future, please let us know by filling out our Contact Us web form at downtownny.com/about-us/contact.

Jessica Lappin PresidentWe apologize for any errors or omissions. All information is subject to change.

POINTS OF INTEREST
New York City as we know it began in Lower Manhattan, and the neighborhoodʼs rich history visibly stretches from the pre-Revolutionary era through contemporary times. Downtown is also home to some of the cityʼs most celebrated museums. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and the gateway to the Statue of Liberty are just a few of the sites youʼll find. Come for landmarks like the Oculus and the New York Stock Exchange, stay for photo-ready spots like the “Charging Bull” and Isamu Noguchiʼs “Red Cube”. Hereʼs what to do and see.

ABOUT US
Founded in 1995, the Alliance for Downtown New York is the business improvement district for Lower Manhattan, south of Chambers Street. Our mission is to provide service, advocacy, research and information to advance Lower Manhattan as a global model of a 21st-century central business district for businesses, residents and visitors.
We do this by supporting commercial tenancy; promoting and sustaining the tourism, technology and retail sectors; and acting as Lower Manhattanʼs authoritative research and information source. Our operations team strives to make the neighborhood safe, clean and welcoming. We provide free public transportation, offer homeless outreach, maintain public spaces, empty hundreds of garbage and recycling receptacles daily, clear snow off of sidewalks, remove graffiti and repair street furniture. Our public safety officers work with the NYPD to keep crime rates among the lowest in the city. The Alliance is dedicated to making Lower Manhattan a thriving and enjoyable place for all.
