Book Illustr ators Gallery B 1 Central Public library

The Book Illustrators Gallery (BIG) aims to showcase the works of local and regional illustrators and artists — across genres and borders — and promote them to a wider audience. This year, close to 150 submissions came in from neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, as well as from the Middle East, including Iran, Afghanistan, Israel and Turkey. Entries were also received from India, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The curators of this year’s gallery are Dr Tony See, who lectures at National University of Singapore; and author/illustrator Susanna Goho-Quek, whose picture books include God Is Hu? and Fun at the Opera. The BIG Opening Ceremony will happen on 23 May at 11am at the Central Public Library.

AFCC offers schools the opportunity to engage with internationally renowned writers and illustrators in the classroom. Each year, AFCC brings to Singapore a group of talented writers with a wealth of information to share with students — from creating comics from day-to-day experiences to writing mysteries.
