November 18, 2022 WAGONHAMMER RANCHES Female Sale CHAROLAIS Females
Welcome to the Total Package Female Sale. We appreciate your interest and your time evaluating our offering. This group of cows represents the work of three generations of the Wolf family starting with Jim Wolf’s decision to breed Charolais seedstock in 1967. Jim was a pioneer in performance testing and recognized as the Seedstock Producer of the Year in 1979 by the Beef Improvement Federation. His commitment to performance testing has continued for over 50 years and is represented in our Total Performance motto for the bull sale. When thinking about this female sale and what it represents, the Total Package is what we believe these females to be. They’re sound, productive, balanced in their genomic profile and appealing to the eye. As a fully integrated system from conception to harvest, we see the benefits and costs of our genetic selections in a very real way on a day-today basis. We balance our drive for feedlot performance and carcass quality with the fertility and function of the Charolais female. Our goal is always to maximize yearling growth while maintaining a moderate mature size to minimize cow cost at the ranch level. This has been the basis for our commercial herd since the 1920s and will continue for years to come.
We really believe in the future of the females offered in this sale from the proven donor cows to the babies on side of the fall cows. We think they offer a multitude of possibilities for matings and profitability for the seedstock and commercial industries. The Duchess cow family has produced AI Sires including WR Foreman and WR Travel Agent and national champions like WR Sandy. Some of the most proven cows from that family sell. The Lot 1 female ties quality and genomic excellence into an exciting package. Two maternal sisters to the legendary AI sire WR Wrangler W601 sell. The calves they are carrying excite us and make it bittersweet to see them leave. We hope you can join us November 18th at the ranch between Bartlett and Elgin, NE. We are excited for you to evaluate some of our very best and are looking forward to watching them be the Total Package for you.
Sincerely, Jay Wolf, Alex Wolf & Joe Epperly

The Wagonhammer brand was established in 1910, and since then they have been pioneers in western agriculture. This is still true today as Jay and Alex Wolf, and Joe Epperly lead Wagonhammer Ranch into the future of beef cattle production.
The Charolais breed has always been at the heart of Wagonhammer Ranch, but under the progressive direction of Joe Epperly they are stepping more towards the forefront of the program. When Joe took over the program, he had a tremendous genetic base to begin with. From that he accelerated every aspect of the program with a balance an old school mentality with new school methods. The Wagonhammer operation believes in data, and knowing how the cattle preform in a commercial setting is paramount. However, that is not to say that these cattle are mated on paper alone, that is far from the truth. As you look through the catalog you will find cutting edge genetics, that blend phenotype and genotype to the highest degree.
Joe believes in mating cattle that not only look good, but also check as many boxes on paper as possible. Blending both phenotype and genotype is not an easy task. However, as you look through this offering you will find many dual-threat females that can work in a production or show setting. The cattle aren’t bred to push the envelope, they are bred with both ideas in mind. Cattle need to look good and have enough genetic merit to allow the buyer to decide how they want to move forward with them.
The cattle in this offering represent an opportunity that has never been offered to the public. Wagonhammer has never opened the door to the public in such a way as to offer this many females for sale at one time. This sale is designed to feature premium genetics, that are at the upper end of the breed. We are dispersing all the 2015 and 2016 model cows, the heart of the herd. Along with offering some of the very elite young cows, bred and open heifers. It is my firm belief that many future donors, and cornerstone dams will come out of this sale, and I am excited to be a part of offering them to you.
Please join us on November 18th, at the ranch in Bartlett, Nebraska to view what could be the finest group of Charolais for sale all fall. Please do not hesitate to contact anyone involved with the sale if you have questions.
Thank you for your interest, Colt Keffer
D645 | Lot 15
As Joe and I began to sort through cattle to form our sale list we wanted to find a sale feature that was right for the times. We feel that lot 1 fits that bill in many ways. She offers plenty of positives as an individual in terms of phenotype and genotype. She is extremely good in her birth traits, on top of being in the top 25% TSI and top 1% MARB. These traits are proven, her first calf ratioed 124 for IMF last year. She couples all of this with an attractive, refined look from the side, and good udder quality. She stems from the Freida cow family, which is the largest and most prolific on the ranch.
We feel that the biggest advantage offered by this great cow is her breeding flexibility. She combines everything needed to be mated in a way that makes her a major income producer. Her pedigree allows her to be mated to many of the high performing bulls in the breed. Her EPD profile gives you the flexibility to push the envelope on performance traits, while keeping calving in check, while already giving you extreme carcass figures. When we step back and look at the goal of Wagonhammer this cow checks all the boxes. The total package.

Her elegance from the side is only matched by her mass, and dimension from behind. Massive in her rib cage, stout hipped, and genuine in her build from the ground up. Yet still smooth as she ties into her shoulder, neat in her chest, and wild necked. When this female gets a new home, the possibilities will be endless when it comes time to mate her. She has produced three daughters that have been retained in the herd. 26 LOT 24 24 WR FRIEDA J604 We kick off the bred heifers with one that is flat good, I mean worth the trip to Bartlett. All throughout this catalog we have talked about multi-purpose cattle, cattle that can do it no matter what your end goal is. This lot 24 is the epitome of that philosophy. Eye appeal is second to none, with balance on the profile, depth of rib, and plenty of muscle shape, and dimension. Then look at her EPD tabulation and find that she is in the top 35% of the breed for 7 different traits, over a 250 TSI and ratioed 108 at weaning and yearling.
