Welcome to the Total Package Female Sale. We appreciate your interest and your time evaluating our offering. This group of cows represents the work of three generations of the Wolf family starting with Jim Wolf’s decision to breed Angus seedstock in 1965 with the purchase of a group of cows from Jorgenson Land and Cattle in Ideal, SD. Jim was a pioneer in performance testing and recognized as the Seedstock Producer of the Year in 1979 by the Beef Improvement Federation.

His commitment to performance testing has continued for over 50 years and is represented in our Total Performance motto for the bull sale. When thinking about this female sale and what it represents, the Total Package is what we believe these females to be. They’re sound, productive, balanced in their genomic profile and appealing to the eye. As a fully integrated system from conception to harvest, we see the benefits and costs of our genetic selections in a very real way on a day-to-day basis. We balance our drive for feedlot performance and carcass quality with the fertility and function of the Angus female. Our goal is always to maximize yearling growth while maintaining a moderate mature size to minimize cow cost at the ranch level. This has been the basis for our commercial herd since the 1920s and will continue for years to come.

We really believe in the future of the females offered in this sale from the proven donor cows to the babies on side of the fall cows. We think they offer a multitude of possibilities for matings and profitability for the seedstock and commercial industries. The maternal sisters to WAR Calvary B063 and their offspring are right for the times and balance $B with $M. The E241 donor cow is the highest Marbling EPD cow in the herd and is a great embryo producer. She’s in the prime of her life.

There are cows that have produced herd bulls for some of the most progressive breeders around the country. The calves they are carrying excite us and make it bittersweet to see them leave.

Commercial Bred Heifers

We are excited to offer a superior set of Commercial bred heifers to you, our customers. They are sourced in two ways. First, we sort through 750 of our own ranch-raised heifer calves. Then we augment them with quality replacement heifers purchased from our bull customers and other top producers in our area. We were fortunate enough to be able to buy heifers from Dewey Cline, Dunlap, IA; Dierks Ranch, Ewing, NE; 7 Hills Ranch, Albion, NE; Kayton Cattle, Albion, NE; RB Angus, Newman Grove, NE; and Wagner Land and Cattle, Petersburg, NE. These heifers have had the same extensive vaccination and mineral program as our own heifers.

Dr. Haley Brethauer, MC Veterinary Services in Ericson NE, ultra-sounded these females for pregnancy and due dates on September 9 & 10th. They will be running on corns stalks prior to the sale and will be recon firmed for pregnancy before loading. The offering has had one round of Scourguard 4KC at pregnancy check but will need a booster within six weeks of calving.

85 head of AI bred heifers due 2/14/2023 to Woodhill Complete A130-C2. These are a very fancy set of all black, ranch raised, and purchased heifers. They were AI’d one day and not exposed to a bull. Every heifer that stuck AI is available with none held back. Woodhill Complete A130-C2 is one of the most balanced and proven calving ease sires in the breed. He’s featured at Beef 360 and used heavily in the R.A. Brown and Woodhill programs. His influence can be seen throughout the offering, and he will be on display sale day. They will weigh approx. 1100 lbs.
